Recent knee surgery

hey guys. My Mcl was torn so I had a surgery on Friday. Arthroscopic knee surgery. I'm having a lot of pain, more than the doctor implied. They gave me codeine with Tylenol in it and it isn't really doing much for the pain. Usually as long as I'm not moving im okay. I tried vaping last night with the solo on 3 and it made me kinda edgy and seemed to make my knee ache even when I wasn't moving. Should I try a higher heat setting? What do you guys do for pain.

I also recommend higher temp settings on your vaporizer. Maybe edibles, if you have access. That, and pain pills is all you can really do, besides following your post op instructions to keep swelling down. Distractions can help too. Do things so you are not thinking about the pain all the time.

Okay thanks for the advise. By the way it was just a meniscus tear not mcl. Thanks for all the help

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
Painful none the less no doubt... so I hope you feel better soon !

Best you can do is raise your heat (as said), if you can take that (I can't, or prefer not to rather).
Also, make sure you raise your leg (pillow under your foot, and cushion under your knee, while lying back) to reduce swelling. Do make sure to follow through on your exercises or physio.... joints and their tissues tend to get lazy and tight if you pussy them too long

Thanks for advise. It seems like it's getting stiff. I tried higher heat last night and wow! I felt like I could walk around if I wanted to. I'm sure I could damage my knee without feeling a thing! It's great as long as I remind myself not to do that.

my sympathies, I tore my ACL and broke my tibia in one fall, took 6 months to rehab enough to be ready for surgery....had it done arthroscopically too, doc put my leg in a machine that would extend and contract my leg every minute of every hour of the day and that helped reduce scar tissue buildup but I was still experiencing pain.

Then I was introduced to cannabis, and combusting it at the time helped, but what helped even more was a distraction in the form of The Wire :)

Sorry, not really anything useful to add except that I wish you a quick and easy recovery. Edibles could also be a great boon too, at least from my experience using them

FWIW a stiff dose of Ibuprofen works much better for me for pain and inflammation than codeine and acetaminophen does.

Gosh I wish I had seen this thread earlier!

I also had arthroscopic surgery on my knee; followed by a knee replacement. I'm glad you got to the root of the problem. I agree that an anti-inflamatory is your best bet with high temp vaping.

I'm sure your doctor and pt have told you this, but keep up with the exercises! It's critical that you do this for mobility and so that scar tissue doesn't build up.

I had a meniscus repair about 2 years ago. Due to other health issues, I can't take anti-inflammatories, and narcotics mess with my intestinal system (and Safeway was out of Colon Blow cereal), so I took only one hydracodone after surgery. From that point I went with edibles and heavy vaping, and had no problem handling the pain. I'm a believer.

Cannabis: Could It Help Treat Bone Fractures?

Researchers at Tel Aviv University conducted a rat study that showed how the non-psychotropic component cannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD) enhanced the healing process of the femora just after eight weeks.

"We found that CBD alone makes bones stronger during healing, enhancing the maturation of the collagenous matrix, which provides the basis for new mineralization of bone tissue," Dr. Yankel Gabet, of the Bone Research Laboratory in the Department of Anatomy and Anthropology at Tel Aviv University, said in a news release. "After being treated with CBD, the healed bone will be harder to break in the future."
