What is Ploom's current battery replacement policy?

"The Limited Warranty does not apply to normal performance degradation of batteries or neglecting to adhere to cleaning instructions. Please contact Ploom Support to learn more about our Battery Replacement Service."

So nobody participating in this forum at the current time really knows. I imagine Ploom will clobber us for $100 or so when our batteries finally go. When the time comes for my Pax I'll contact them, find out the cost and then weigh whether anything new on the market would be a wiser choice. In the meantime, as my daily ride, it's been a great purchase.

Just a thought regarding battery degradation:

A friend of mine used to work at Batteries+ a chain battery store. They should be able to replace the battery in the pax if you disassemble it. Disassembly is easy, one torx screw and out it slides (Couldn't resist on my own but I plan on changing it myself if it goes). I know they have the equipment/knowledge to solder or weld batteries and should have some 18650's but don't know how much it would cost.

But if yours is dead and don't plan on sending it to ploom it might be worth checking out.

Ploom responded:

"Thank you for reaching out to us here at Ploom. I'm very sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your device. Unfortunately, any devices purchased from unauthorized third-party resellers such as eBay do not come with a valid warranty as we cannot guarantee the quality or authenticity of such devices. We strongly recommend you seek a refund from the seller and contact eBay to resolve the matter: http://ebay.com/coverage/

We do everything humanly possible to actively pursue these resellers and protect customers such as yourself. If you would like to let us know the name of the eBay seller and the serial number of the device, we can investigate further and try to discontinue their unauthorized sales.

Please accept my sincere apologies for this regretful situation. Don't hesitate to reply back with any further questions. You can also find more information about Pax's warranty here: http://www.ploom.com/pax-warranty-exclusions"

I've responded asking if they can ship me a spare heating element. No answer yet. Looks like I will have to buy another Pax. I'll order it in the USA this time, and have a friend ship it here. Sucks, but I can't live without this thing during the summer.

I just got an email from Vapeworld. Looks like the new set price is now $199.99.

Hopefully this price drip means they have something new coming instead of them just realizing that $249.99 is too high for this day and age.

If it's just about a price drop then I think they are still too high. I think $150 and under is where they should be. :2c:

Ah, nice. If I want to be sure that my Pax is delivered to TX before next week Wednesday, what do you guys recommend where I order? Directly from Ploom or from a reseller? Any reason not to order directly with Ploom? Please share shipping/support experiences. Thanks!

From PlanetVape:

Thanks for your inquiry. 199.99 is the new US MSRP, the Canadian MSRP was lowered to 259.00 because of the US exchange rate. We cannot sell them online either, just from our retail store. We also heard that Ploom will not warranty any PAX vapes not bought directly from them because of the huge number of exact duplicate fakes in the market.... be careful.

Kind Regards,
PV

Vapeworld offers the Pax at the same price. I tried ordering directly with Ploom but it won't let me as my credit card is not a USA one. Ridiculous :/ So, if I order with Vapeworld, do I get warranty? I can't find a list of authorized resellers. Anyone have advice? Thanks!

Look. I'm not looking for another knock-off with questionable or no warranty.

I'm looking to buy a Pax to be delivered within the USA within one week from now, paid for with a foreign credit card, with an authorized reseller.

Who knows what the best option for this is?

Hey dopehope

Why don't you just get a reloadable prepaid visa card (u.s.a) and buy it from vapeworld than
enjoy your Pax it's a great portable vaporizer

Be careful here. A lot of times companies don't honor the warranty if purchased off Massdrop.
Do you know of any companies? I haven't heard of that before.

EDIT:
I must mention that Massdrop gets their products directly from the manufacturer, Ploom has denied the Pax on Massdrop for a very long time and I'm guessing since they made 125 million off of their vape they are willing to sell it for less now. They are also going to get quite a lot more money with the price reduction on another price reduction when the vape was strongly always sold at MSRP (many more people will be willing to spend on it).

Is Vapeworld a safe place to buy warranty-wise? I may be able to use my foreign card with them.

I can't find any info on the Ploom website that shows what their authorized resellers actually are.

I have heard of denial on the DaVinci Ascent and the Herbalizer.

You may have luck with MD covering the warranty but I don't think that is in writing anywhere.

Just my 2 cents..get the reloadable prepaid visa card (u.s.a) and buy it from Ploom site . No middleman or worries about a fake

I just ordered one from Vapeworld. They have a Paypal option, so that worked fine. I read on several places that Vapeworld is one of the few authorized online resellers, and their price is the same as with Ploom, so I took my chances. Also no sales tax, so a bit cheaper :)

If anyone here can think of a reason against ordering a Pax with Vapeworld, please say so now and I can still cancel the order.

too much competition and too much new vapes... and nothing special in their sleeves, altough they bragged if there will be competition they have a lot in their pipeline don t think so... i do not like ploom, i have to say....

I honestly believe ploom will fall off. Portable game is a very different place now from when they started

Also the fact they are so popula has destroyed the stealth factor imo. The smell is pretty bad and it seems everyone and their grandma has seen a pax before and recognizes it, atleast in my area 85% of ppl I talk to know about pax even if they are not in the vape or mmj scene and without stealth the pax is out done by nearly every vape on the market

I love the pax because of its size and ease of use. I'm sure that better quality vapor can be achieved, and in fact my Arizer Extreme of course beats the Pax on that. But the main features for me are its small size so it fits in my party gear, and ease of use. I have not seen any other vaporizer that comes close in that regard. That's why I just bought a new Pax, hopefully with warranty this time.

Do you live in US or Canada?

Because if not it doesn't matter where you get your Pax from you'd have to ship it to your friend and have them file a warranty since Pax doesn't even do the warranty if you don't live in the US or Canada.

I think there are many alternatives to a Pax; T-Vape, Indica, DV, FM, Imag, Boss, Herbstick. I also only think the Pax is good in size, its not special in battery or vapor, its actually worse than over half the vapes I've used.

I really cannot see why the pax is so popular....iive tried it a buncha times..its OK

Heres my experience

I owned an EQ and my friend bought a pax cuz he wanted a portable vape and he bought into the hype...

All of my combusting friends including me hated it...never felt like we could get a big enoigh hit to get stoned from it.it became the laughing stock of our friends actually. "Leave the pax at home"...then I grabbed a solo and everyone was blown away. My friend ordered one and put his pax on the shelf.

So to a bunch of normal smokers...the pax gave vaping a bad name...and the Solo had them hooked

IMO they need to redesign/rerelease it if they want to stay in the game

No offense to pax lovers! Just wanted to share my experience
