The spacers are indeed glass.

Good to know I was mistaken! Can't wait to see how well they work

@CarolKing: Whats that lil rubber ring (?) around Eds black stem for? Some kind of seal?
That's a o-ring I use for a seal. My unit is from last Oct., I still have a little air leak. The GonG or WonG almost eliminate that. I would assume the newer models have a tighter seal. I have the seal around the top where the stem comes out the top of the unit. I took a picture a while back with the WonG.

CarolKing,

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
Thanks, Carol. How do I find out if I too have the air leak... don't know exactly what its all about?

i have recieved my ascent unit almost a month and a half ago. I havent posted any revieuws of the divice because i wanted to put is to good use first so i would be sure of what it is capable of, but now the time has come to put in the personal verdict i promised (implying that you all have been eagerly awaiting this ).

First impression is that this machine is sturdy, heavy and a feel of quality. Look-wise it is beautifull. couple of points on the build: -my bottom and top half dont perfect lineup, this does not seem to mess with the functionallity, it is only estetical.
-the top botton doesnt allways reply on the first push, you do seem to push down hard and youu dont have good space for that if you have big fingers. i do understand that this is a good place to place the on button to prevent accidental turning on.

I have allready broken off a corner on one of my glass screen tube but thats ok, I ordered 2 extra sets with my ascent and I find it to be a valuable lesson in learning how much pressure you can put on the little bugger. Apparently glass doesnt like to be treated to rough:rolleyes:.

The use is verry easy and i have found good result with and without the glas oil cannister as a spacer.

-Herb= awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(there is a reason why i used 27 exlamation marks)
-Old scool hashjis like afgaan and maroc = not so good results, even when mixed in with herb. My guess is that dry sift, highly pressed hashjis need a higher temp but then again i aint got no masters degree in vaporizing, i've only just finished my first month in vapeschool:lol:.
-oil = ok results when mixed in with herb. the oil jar is not so practicall for vaping oil imo it is a tool to press down herb and to use as a spacer.

Any downstem from a bong that has a right diameter could be used as a mouthpiece, i have the 18mm gong and i have found a glass downstem with a bowl wich fits in my ascent. As far as mouthpieceperformance goes, the bong downstem does an equal good job compared as the gong.

I have a straight gong piece and when i use my ascent on my bong i feel like i only get good bong hits for the first 2 or 3 drags. is it possible that a lot of vapor could be going to waist when keeping the asent in an upside down possition? what is your routine to vape through a bong or pipe when using the straight gong?

Sorry for any spelling or grammer mistakes, i am not a native speaker and beeing under the spell of the ascent does not make thing any easier :luv:

peace out!

Those who are looking for a portable session vape where you sip and enjoy the flavor, I am going to say the ascent beats my high priced portables (mighty-hits much harder, but not a session vape/ minivap-i get pretty messed up after 3 hits so it's also not a sipper).

The only concern for me was I did not perform initial burn offs. I just weathered the silicon taste (took about 2 sessions) to get a great flavor profile. Hope I didn't breathe too many toxic fumes. I think the vaporizer community is blessed to have such a wide variety of vapes to choose from.

I am hoping to hear about the spacer soon. Checked to look on the Davinci's website and didn't see anything. Having a single spacer will make it easier for portability.

I have been using my Ascent while watching the Saturday Night Live Special curled up on the couch tonight. SNL 40th Anniversary, it makes me feel old. This unit hits the spot along with some Grape Ape so smooth on 385 degrees. Using the glass GonG makes a better draw.

Obviously you didn't breathe in too many toxic fumes, you're still with us.......

And there's noting really toxic about those fumes anyway. Since this is 'food grade' rubber, the catalyst is selected to be non toxic (based on Platinum IIRC), higher price (isn't it always?) but safe in this use by conventional measures. Vape on in good health.

The funny thing is that it was my worst tasting vaporizer initially, but now has been my go-to piece when I try new strains to determine the strain's flavor profile. It is a lot of fun when you have some free time to sip on vapors while taking a walk or watching a movie (on dvd, never in a theater because it smells too much-a job more suited for my Elevape sv). I really like the glass spacers idea (you can do it with the glass vials if you use a pinch), even though I like getting medicated with a large amount of herbs (especially if it's my first session of the day-I always pack full a and a light tamp down).

I have never used the preset timer that changes temperature during a session automatically. OF, carolking, silvercloud, and all the other ascent users, what is your favorite setup for this feature. I am wondering temperature and amount of time on that specific temperature. I feel like a guy who buys an expensive smartphone and never uses any of its features other than calling/texting. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

@mixchu69 ,after considerable experimentation ,have

found 'less' fine ground ,med packed gives best results for quickest vapor w/o

burn ,esp when 2-3 gf's used for heat resiliency ~ of course ,"infused" loads

makes for longer sessions ~ also ,quicker vapor working *down vs upwards

Psst* always **start initially > 400 to get heat cycle started ,then slowly down

@ 15-20 degrees

Psst** answering your initial question ,don't use programmed timers cuz

sometimes looking for various effects @ dif intervals

I have many vapes now, but when people ask me which one I prefer, I answer "the Ascent" (and they can't understand why because they are so disappointed when they try to use it and can't seem to get the technic right!)

@mixchu69 : I don't use the timer feature, it's the strain that dictates how many and how long my temperature levels will be (and also if I'm in a hurry or not and whether the battery is near dead or not to some extent)

@silvercloud358 : everytime I started too high of a temperature I found it spoiled the taste for the entire session. Especially over 400°F, it can get the ABV/popcorn taste in no time and destroy all the terpenes. I start low and I get vapor on the first hit. Did you fix your air leak btw I don't recall? Also try tamping your load a bit more maybe... you should be getting good vapor without using your trick.

I thought I had read that the first run spacers are on their way to the U.S? When deciding to take the Ascent places, it's an issue using the little glass flowers. They are easily lost. Having a one piece spacer will be good for going out an about.

I need to pack the Ascent completely full and not use the spacer when going places. I don't want to hassle with having to take out the glass flowers. So I end up taking my Air as my portable unit or the Indica.

@KeroZen ,personally have found the fine ground ,firmer pack makes for 'longer' drags overall ~

BTW ,no prob w/air leaks via tromboning orig or WT glass

Vape On :-)

Guys if someone tried to replace batteries to normal recharging AA aku ? Is ther possibility to do this ? I`m wondering because my Ascent have very shitty battery. It`s empty about 3 (10min) sessions. And i can`t charge to full my vape. Logo charging battery blink indefinitely even after all day of charging...:/

@FrogDR I'm no battery expert but I don't think there is any way to change your own battery in the Ascent. You would have to send it back to the company for battery replacement. It doesn't use regular AA batteries.

You would void your warranty if you tried opening your unit up. I would contact Davinci and see if they can help you with that? The battery when new is only about an hour or a little more of usage.

Hey there. Unfortunately there is no way to self replace the batteries in the Ascent. We thought about it when designing but we ran into a problem. If the two batteries' volts do not match, the unit will not work.

In regards to the GLASS SPACERS! We have no update since the last. All we know is they were sent on a boat. We will keep you guys updated for sure so stay tuned!
