I think you are always going to have a spot on the coil that is going to be hotter.

It is still not perfect but judging from the looks of my load, it is applying heat more evenly than before. Still need to stir to avoid waste.

Perhaps with the current configuration uneven distribution is necessary, but for sure it doesn't have to be that way. In fact, it's pretty natural to be uniform. Here we have, I think, a case where the airflow pattern is the real issue. The coil itself is quite uniform and can be easily modified by turn spacing to change that. Bending it down also may do this, may not? The problem is the airflow is off center and not uniform I think. It's basically all at the back. Most of the air (volume wise) blasts straight up to the load, having minimal time near the coils. The remainder slows more, passes through on angle, spends more time near the heat and comes out hotter for it.

The problem is, this effect changes a lot with draw speed as has been pointed out. Just backing off on the draw can slow the flow enough so it goes over temperature and we get combustion instead of less heat in the load as you'd expect. Normal feedback fails by calling for the wrong correction.

So, at best, I think we can tune for one draw speed? We also know that at least some of the hot air can be way over what the setting says it is. I've never combusted at 330F before......least as I recall.

All in all a fun and useful thing, I think. But as so often happens only some experience from other vapes carries over.

I never touched or manipulated my coil. It looks parallel with no angle. I've seen vape dr.'s post on changing the angle but wanted it to work straight out the box. Do you think that is the reason why I am not getting clouds? Maybe the coil is not centered directly under the screen? Maybe I got to check the battery too? I have a feeling it is user error from me.

Edit: I heard firefly uses a coil too and that piece has a high learning curve. I Don't know much about the design of the heaters or the technology behind everything. I feel like coil style heaters (or heat on demand)have a higher learning curve than other vaporizers

If anything closer up would make it hotter, but biggest factor in clouds for me, is firstmost how you draw, temp, full pack decent grind, and then potentially how long of a hit (and stirring in between too). It can be tough to get the draw right every time, but a fast deep breath with the bowl packed as such yields pretty reliable clouds for me

Uneven cooking had been well noted, hence all the stirring. It is absolutely mandatory here, and why I believe there is still a better way to do a stir lid, its a work in progress. I've tried it with the bottle cap screen, and its still tough to avoid clogs, I need to experiment more with the type of grind and pack for the stir lid though, but as i also have had to open up to stir with it, so I can actually flip the load and get the green on the bottom.

Also when opening to stir, just crack it slightly, angled with one side of the lid still touching the body, so you can see if any herbs stuck to the mesh screen, and just dislodge them with your stirrer (mine is usually a toothpick) back into the bowl, then remove the lid and stir it up. But yeah ss mesh is such a hassle, need a better way

Also, @Vape Dr. has had excellent results with shatter in his ESV, Joe says they plan to offer their own pads like the Herbalizer at some point, and yes the hotter temps are well suited for convection dabs (but max coil temp is 450F, can be hotter if you draw slow ofcourse)

I've got my temps at 345-375-405 now bc the way I've got it set up for me, it's on the lower side. Think I'm still rising even, may settle on 350-380-410 after all (at least until I eventually send it in for a time up back to default and so I can replace my lower screens).

Did not @Vape Dr. Mentioned that a oil/concentrat pad is in the making by elevape?

Indeed? Excellent. Then IMO that (waiting for their product) becomes the best way to do it?

It depends. In the 'bend it down' mod I saw the coil was bent down, away from the load. But closer to the sensor......therefore the sensor sees more hot and throttles back sooner....temperature actually goes down on average.

But I think you put your finger right on it, the temperature is too unstable/dependent on flow rate for casual use. Like some other vapes the user has to be careful and be a conscious part of the operation......which can be cool in it's own right.

FWIW I've been goofing with smaller loads, closer to .06 grams, not the .1 or so I was using. The urge is, of course, to put more and more in..... Promising results IMO. I'm thinking as long as I'm opening it up to stir all the time, why not swap loads? In fact, sometimes I can just shake it and get another hit. The best load seems to be such that it barely covers the bottom once it 'shrinks back'. Back to the salt mines, more testing in process.

BTW I'm deciding the 'battery meter' is not all that accurate. That is recharging from 40% (60% charge) took about 40% of the total to get from 0 to 100%. I'm able to monitor the current out the USB port on my computer, I'm basing this experiment on that as a base line. More testing needed here too......work, work, work.....

So good new's and bad new's. The good new's i am having an Elevape shipped tomorrow as assured by Vapor nation. The bad new's it's not coming from Vapor nation, and i wen't a bit overboard on extra's after they confirmed Mon or Tue's shipping on Fri when i called,:whoa: So yeah i certainly spent a bit more at this point than expected. (yes i'm very pissed off but it's pointless to go on about that) I really hope the seller i got it from is sending the newer one with orange o ring, After putting so much into this specific unit i didn't really have a choice but to go elsewhere for it.

I actually don't mind the learning curve of the ESV because I knew exactly what I was in for. If it leads me to a close to perfect vapor on demand, I'm happy to keep trying til I get it right. I think it will make the Elevape even more enjoyable. I only had one quick pm to Joe but I should start asking some more questions. I have heard it numerous times in this forum: to drive a Ferrari, you need to learn the feel of the car while I can buy a Toyota that will be easy to use but nothing special about it.

3 bowls without any issues and now nothing!, I can only pull fresh air, I can change settings without differences, I cleaned screens without effect...

I get a lot of nice vapes around and I'm drawing like a crazy on this vape....but for nothing....

edit: you're right OF it was the batterry, although, maybe 4 small bowls is a very short battery, isn't it?
and sorry for the 600°F, I saw that in their website(App section) but I can see in the App it's 450°F...

I expect more famous testing tomorrow morning...now it's too late, go to bed!

Have you tried charging it? What does the battery level in the app say?

Wow am i not supposed to get a Elevape or what? Now the fucking eBay seller is saying there out. I may have ground's for an eBay dispute on this one tho, I'm suspicious that the seller's source was Vapor nation and they sold it for $50 more, If that's the case i got a case. The seller claimed the manufacturer is out tho not buying it. I can go to ipuffusa now and order it, Also there's other places i found it for sale at just way more up price wise. So can anyone confirm that ipuff isn't out?

Update: So now Vapor nation is saying they can take care of it after i cancelled over the phone, They mentioned me canceling on the phone so look's like i can still get one from them, This has been one wild vape purchase.

Hi, thanks OF, it was the battery!

My ESV is working again now, but I noticed in the App my battery stopped to charge before to be full (+90%), is it normal or there is an issue?

I'm still disappointed by the taste and efficiency....but maybe ...with a better technique...

Actually I store my ESV abv cause there is a lot of goodies in.....

Could you explain me he airpath and vaporpath please?

I think fresh air is drawing by the lid threw the load to the coil and go back to the load before to follow the vaporpath to the mp, thgis is explain why the rear of the bowl is green and the front(mp side) is "charred"...but maybe I didn't understand it well....

You're welcome. You gotta put them electrons in before you use them, no credit....... Thanks for passing the good word, easy fix. FWIW I think the indicator light still works just the heater is cut off? I got light but on hot at the bottom of charge as well.

Others have reported their 'meters' reading low, mine goes to 100% before the current starts to drop (I'm able to monitor the current and am using that as a reference). I'm not sure what the story is but you're not alone?

You've basically got it I think. Air enters through the switch and USB socket cutouts and through (and around) the PCB they're mounted to (tripping the sensor to start the heat). It then goes down the cutout for the posts that hold and power the coil into the heater area. Only that flow is off center (to the back) so I believe that's what causes the uneven heating, the airflow itself should be fairly uniform if centered? Stirring distributes that of course, but it's easy to exhaust part of the load and still have green on the other side if you don't.

Glad you're back in the game, now to work on that technique (as I am.....).

Do you think add some glass beads in the bowl could help (àla Ascent...), not to keep the t° here, but to create turbulences to distribute heat more evenly....?

...or put a spacer to obliterate the dead spot or the hot spot, as you want....?

It works fine now (yes I only forgotten there is a battery:doh:) but i would like to find a way to avoid stirring at all....

I think to use shatter avoid all stirring issues (used alone) that's why I'm waiting anxiously for the Dr video about shatter in the ESV...

Yeah a few on here got decent results with mininmal stirring somehow, but most everyone will agree here, stirring has always be this vapes Achilles's heel, were just all willing to work through it, or find other solutions, since the hits are so nice and quick. Have you tried the bottle cap screen? Better heat distribution and easier stirring as well

Cloudy...
Yay!! My unit is here :D

Time to charge while I go to work so I can use it when I return at home. But lets see if I can change the o-ring first, I can't take out the black one :bang:

Edit: Damn!! I can't take out this stupid o-ring, I'm starting to think about cuting it out...

You need a tool. You can make one like mine very easily from a safety pin. Heat the tip glowing red with your torch type lighter and bend it at right angles for the last 1/16 inch or so. A tiny square hook. You can 'cold form' the steel, or at least try, but it's usually pretty brittle, heating it is the key.

Then carefully insert the hook 'long ways' next to the ring to the bottom of the slot. Rotate it 90 degrees to come up under the ring and pull it up enough to clear the lip. Normally you need to be very careful not to scratch the groove, but here that's not a big deal. Anyway, you want a square hook about as long as the ring is wide.

The neat thing about a safety pin it you close it up and safely stash it for next time.

FWIW I found my black one loosened up just fine. For now it stays.

Thanks Of! But in the end II had and accident and broke it

Well, I'm sure it's not hard to find that size of orange o-rings online, so no worries here. Time to charge!!

Yeah changing out the gate shouldn't be necessary, it will loosen, but already done now I suppose

Bummer. FWIW the Cera o-ring is close. It's 3/4 inch OD but the cord is too narrow. Ironically the 015 rings to fit the new style Solo (with thick caps) is a pretty good fit. Looser than the factory ring (metric?) but I think OK for most......you might start there?

Good luck.

Either, but neither is needed. The charger works just fine on 220 Volts, once you fix the plug fit issue. A cheap mechanical adapter is all you need.

I justmade a stirring system inspired by DrVape with a safety pin, it works very well and now I can only turn the lid to stir.

I would like to try the bottle screen too but I don't understand how it can avoid stirring....

Tried some kief with great vapor, but it's messy...

Battery longlife is a bit too short imho, maybe with more practice I could save battery

Nice, I haven't tried that one yet. Stopped using the screw screens. Kiefy bowls are nuts but it gets everywhere. Ss mesh is bad for kief

Bottle cap screen doesn't avoid stirring, but makes it much easier and quicker, and no dead spot in the middle.

I want try making a stirrer with the bottle cap screen, best if both worlds. Need what kind of steel wire though?
