You know its too cold out when you grab the bong off the windowsill and both chambers of water are completely frozen... Another thing the AA doesnt have to worry about LOL

Don't let it crack! I've left two hydratubes in my vehicle overnight with water, and we all know water expands when it freezes.. Ice definitely was the victor over the glass..

Just bought the efest luc 4 from lightning vapes. $22 shipped after coupon, I couldn't resist. 1amp charging with 4 18650s should be very close to Arizer air charge speed. Even has 2amp charge but I don't think I'll have a use for that lol.

I clicked the red discount button on their page and used my throw away twitter account. One of those like/follow us get a coupon. 17% off

EDIT: Now if only there was a way to know if this samsung ICR18650-22P is safe to use. I have no use for it other than the air, I pulled it from my dead beta herbstick deluxe (long story). It seems like low discharge and overcharge of the arizer air are the two important factors.

I look forward to know if I get a different charge voltage compared to charging in the air

Does anyone know if planet vape has those plastic tubes for stem storage that will fit the vortex stem's extra length. I couldn't find it on the website. I like the tubes because they protect the stem while at the same time seal in the smell of a just used stem. Anyone?

I use it while charging in order to hold off the inevitable of running out of charge.

You could try checking with Underdog or enano. The case that came with my enano dry stem would likely fit, its two jyarz tall

Hey All, Am I damaging my Air batteries if I use it while charging? I saw this at the Battery University site re. Li-Ion batteries:

While in general that's the case (difficult to gauge the real voltage (at rest) when it's under load on one hand (discharging) and also charging. Some special devices are designed to compensate for this, I suspect Air is one of them. FWIW I don't do this on either Air or Solo (same feature there on current production units), I either use it or charge it.
Hey @OF.
@CentiZen and I were chatting, and he said he believes you know the ohm rating on the Air.
He said he thinks it's half of what the Solo is, which would be 1.1 ohms. Is this right (Solo being 2.2 ohms) ?

He's lying again. I don't know. But if it's the same power (and that seems right) and half the voltage that means twice the current on average (four Amps not two in round terms). Twice the current at half the voltage means 1/4 the original resistance. By Ohm's law if it's four Amps at 3.6 Volts that makes it about .9 Ohms, 3.6 Volts divided by 4 Amps (about what Cera carts are). Solo would be 7.2 Volts divided by 2 Amps, about 3.6 Ohms. That little sucker is working hard to make us happy, no doubt about it.

It's also important to remember the heater used has a strong positive temperature coefficient (that is it's resistance goes up as it gets hotter). Many metals do this. Like light bulbs. It has a way of power limiting/regulation. From a cold start, Solo actually draws way more than 2.0 Amps, it's under 2.5 in a few seconds, but just taking a meter to the coil isn't going to help much here. You need to do voltage and current measurements under working conditions and calculate.

But, in broad terms, half the voltage, twice the current (for the same power in Watts) means 1/4 the resistance. Or did when I went to school........or taught same.

Dang OF, your dropping some knowledge there LOL Any chance OF stands for Old Fart? :D

I guess i should of been reading less and posting more all this time LOL, I wanted to make a "Want to buy" thread in the classifieds for a vortex stem but it wouldnt let me. I guess i need more posts firsts, and possibly more likes... However i dont know how to check how many likes i have ever received here....

Anyways... Anyone know if id get in trouble for adding a signature saying im looking to buy a vortex stem for the Air/Solo?? I dont wanna break any rules... But i been a member for 10 months and still dont have 20 posts... No telling how long it would take me to get to 50 posts, by that time id have a newer vape anyways LMAO

it's a slimmer more portable Solo with replaceable battery. You might sacrifice a few sessions for the portability but you can change batteries on the fly and keep vaping unlike the Solo which is dead until you can get it on a charger (switching batteries on the Solo is a real PITA and not easy to do on-the-run). Hit up Randy from puffitup with an email and he'll sort you out. Easier to deal with a known and reputable retailer that will stand behind the Air and you 100%, plus he's in California so no international shipping if you're in the states.

@KidFated. I got you brotha

Thanks, I really appreciate the input and the tip!

@DopeFight, I think it comes down to personal preference, I have both the Air and the Solo. I would pick the Solo if not for stealth. The flavor is great with both units but I prefer the Solo and use it more often than the Air.

The Solo is the chubby older sister to the Air. It can be bought for less. Check out Puffitup they have very good customer service and they sell both units. Randy will work with you and give you a good deal. See if he will price match.

I am very happy with my Air and would buy it all over again. I like the fact that I can switch out batteries and recharge them. You could buy the Air then you can trade off with your friend.

Arizer will honor your warranty no matter where you buy your unit. Just make sure you keep your online receipt.

Thanks for taking a minute and letting me know what you think on the two.... I'm familiar with the Solo, I've used my friends a good many times and think it's a great machine all the way around. My only small complaint was that it was not a bit more portable. Like not being able to stick it in your pocket and enough wait you probably wouldn't wanna lug it very far. Stealth is not a huge factor, but nice..kids getting older and all that... In your opinion does the Air lack in taste quality compared to the Solo? (when using a glass or Solo steams) That was one of my main draws to the Solo.

Dont do that. Perhaps PM a moderator and see if they can make an exception given how long you have been registered/active here.

IMO it lacks in flavor by a little bit (compared to solo). But on the other hand I sold my solo and havent looked back. And I loved that fucker but air made me forget all about it. So much more portable and stealth, well worth it IMO. And form factor is sick. For all practical purposes with two batteries you should think of the air as equivalent to the solo. Yes the solo seemed to have better flavor and higher heat setting but its not that large of a difference. But what you gain in portability, stealth, and form factor seems well worth the trade offs for me. Im sure everyone has different priorities

Good idea. Plus i doubt its something that people have extras of just lying around anyways. I just sent a message to PV and asked if/when they would be stocking more, hopefully they do, and it wont be too far out.

When i hear back ill update this thread for any others interested in picking up a vortex stem.

@dopefiend I think for me it comes down to a longer air path and you can do that with the Air. The Solo has more temperatures to choose from. Also the Solo has been out longer than the Air. I use the Solo at home and the Air on the go.

Maybe eventually you can get both? Vaporizers and accessories can get expensive. You save on the cost of herb if you don't combust.

I emailed edstnt and asked about a wong for the air. He said he does not do them yet but has the materials. I then asked if the air and solo wongs are the same. He replied i will be making for the air please hang in there with me.

So, do the solo stems fit the air? I know arizer say they do but i never tried for fear of stretching the rings. What do u all think?
I never measured and have got rid of my solo now. I did use the air stem in the solo but was so loose didnt really work. Thanks

Thought i'd pop in to let you guys know that i purchased some real cheap batteries and charger off ebay, costing about £8 but wouldnt recommend as when fully charged you only get about 2 uses out of the Air before the batteries empty again.. Im thinking of purchasing the Nitecore 18650 3.7v 3400mAh batteries next as they are much safer, protecting against over heating, over charge/discharge and power surges etc.

Also i happen to have lost the lid for my Arizer Air, i was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere to pick up replacements such as this, obviously the lid isnt necessary so im not overly bothered about acquiring one but if there is a place i'd like to know.

I ordered a stem from ed trough PUI with my air, in the knowledge it possibly wouldn't fit, but I wanted to try it out.

it did fit, but... just. required a bit more effort as the stock stems, and after using it for a few days I noticed that the upper one of those 4 rubber rings in the air was almost completely gone. so it could damage your air(the rubber rings), on the other hand with 3 rubber rings my air still functions fine. haven't really used that stem from ed anymore though, it's now just lying on my desk looking nice.

I think other solo-stems won't really have that problem though, the thing with those stems from ed is that the stainless steel is quite sharp, while glass stems are more rounded. I think a glass stem that's just slightly too large(so any glass solo stem) will just push the rubber rings out of the way without damaging them, but possibly stretching them a little.

so I would wait for ed to produce something specifically for the air iof you don't want to damage your air.

They wont fit in the unit.

I have a couple of those batteries. (NL189) They are awesome. I use them in my Fenix PD35 light.... Before i read that other bats void the warranty i tried my 3400mAh 18650 bat in the Air but it wouldnt fit, it has the, for lack of a better known to me term, nub on the positive side similar to an AA battery and the Arizer's bats do not. I was glad it didnt fit once i read the info on warranty.

Save your money.

But im curious, if you were going to spend this much on a battery why not just get the factory battery and avoid the warranty issues? The NL189s can cost more than the factory bats.
