Vapes on Planes - Traveling With Vaporizers

Going home to NY for the holidays. Will be there for two weeks. I kinda want to bring my FF with me. Think I'd be okay if I cleaned it well and packed it in my checked luggage? I feel like it would probably be fine, but it still makes me a little nervous. I guess I could always ship it there and back in a small flat rate box.

I wish I could bring/ship some flower too, but that's too much risk for me.

Few years ago i was almost paranoiac with smoking stuff on plane.

But, as I took many flight in different country by now, I think you Worry way too much.

I carried : Pipe / king size paper / lighter / grinder / Glass Bong / Scale without any trouble/question.

I never try with a vaporizer (vape since one month) but I'll do it for sure on my next trip. Airport security has definitely other important things to worry about. And you can't be arrest or something for just a tiny bit of residue of cannabis, cocaine, etc.
Notice that I never experienced US/CA security. But Thailand, Australia, NZ, CHINA, Algeria, Tunisia, Europe etc.
IMO Domestic flight, in most of the place, are like the Bus. Some stuff wrapped between balls (extra safe) and take it easy. Don't throw away good materials.

Best regards, FuFu.

Ps : I accidentally carried weed in a cigarette packet from Sydney to Bangkok after a Big party and hangover. A great surprise when looking for a smoke after the plane. SO DAMN Lucky on this one!

When I recently went to Colorado, I FedEx'd my Haze and Ascent to where I was staying, and brought my Pax in my carry-on, inside a little case. I had no problems, coming or going.

I figured the Pax looks enough like a sex toy that the agents wouldn't hassle me about it

My new portable setup. Just tested for air travel, as well as carry-on capable. Flew out of Detroit into Boston and back this week with 1/2g Skywalker OG Co2 oil loaded into a Galactic OPen cart on top of my Vapor Bros Dabbler. Not one second glance from TSA at the security check point.

Gettin ripped in the bathroom with little to ok smell. Co2 is the titteeeeehhhhhhhssssss.
I wish I could get my hands on some of that liquid. We don't have that around my parts. It's mostly just herb in New York , I don't even see wax , very rare.

Meh Opens are not a favorite of mine, they usually taste like shit and only get me buzzed. Might just be my experience though.

I take my Omicron Lite and 3-4 carts full of wax with me whenever I travel by air. I usually just pack it along with a copy of my rec into my check-on luggage. Never had any issue.

I am posting here because I don't want to start a whole new thread, but this isn't technically about flying with vapes- I made the discovery how easy it is to bring contraband on a plane a while back (cough). It's actually because I'm planning to cruise this year, and I've gotten used to this sleeping thing. I've heard things about crazy sensitive smoke detectors and Bahamian police scams where they search ships and then charge inflated fines. I'm kinda fond of my money and the fact that I don't have a record. Just looking for others' experiences out there! I'd rather just pack my Solo and an Ed stem and call it good, but I didn't spring for a balcony (doesn't matter, this fleet doesn't have smoking on balconies) and my usual hotel method of running a hot shower while using a sploof (little kid noses are the most sensitive of all) isn't foolproof.

I am heading from NYC to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.

I've seen many recommendation to ship to your hotel instead of brining it on the plane. Why is this safer? What are the likely consequences of the cleaned, but not brand new vape getting somehow flagged by Mexican customs?

I definitely don't feel like going past U.S. customs with a cleaned (not brand new) vape. What about shipping a cleaned, but not brand new vape back home to the U.S.?

What you are describing may not be. I think most of the discussion has centered around CONUS mail, not international. We actually had an FC member get busted on one of those not too long ago. I won't mention the countries involved for their privacy. Any time you are thinking about going "international" on any of this shite, its a whole different ball game. International shipping of cannabis and paraphernalia through the post is really another thread though. Immigration and customs is NO joke. When you are in a foreign country, they HAVE you until they let you go. With MMJ reciprocity in Nevada I am pretty confident about bringing a clean vape there and home in my luggage. But if I was heading out of country over to Asia would I be so quick to clean my Crafty, throw it in the bag and fly? No. You MUST understand the laws of your origin, destination, and ANY connecting areas you may land in temporarily, even if you think you are not deplaning.

Believe me, I don't like being the "Nervous Nellie" of this thread but I have had experiences that give me pause. Like the Philippines for instance. Think getting out of Manila is just getting on a plane? No. They have this cool little scam they run on you first. There is an "exit" fee you have to pay to leave the country. Believe me after 3 weeks I was ready to pay almost ANYTHING to get the hell out, but there is a catch. When you check in at the main counter they are supposed to give you your immigration and customs paperwork, but they don't. You then pay the fee to enter the secure customs area, a one way door, and you are presented with about a dozen stations, all empty of passengers, all with nice little girls in uniforms waiting to help you. When they ask for your form and you don't have it, you have to go back, all the way out to get it, and repay the "exit" fee to enter the area again. Simple quick double billing process. None of the girls have these forms that they use every day of course. Never underestimate the level of graft and corruption in the country you are visiting.

Thank you, sir.

Well in that case my plan is to buy a brand new vape and leave it in Mexico. Yes, it's an expense, but I'll need it for my health and it's much, MUCH cheaper than any potential consequences would cost (and not just in $).

If it's brand new, would it be better to mail it or bring it in my luggage?

I am assuming a brand new vaporizer is not paraphernalia in Mexico? I'll google around on this, but curious what others happen to know.

P.S. Love my crafty! :)

"Nervous Nellie"

A Nervous Nellie is exactly what's need on threads like these.

I see a lot of people post stuff like "traveled all over the world with my vape and her and nothing ever happened". Well good for you, you got lucky! Then others read it and think "oh it's okay!"

It is simply a bad and stupid risk. I have travel experience, and I know I could get a vape and even a small amount of herb past MX customs 99 times out of 100. But the consequences of that last 1% are too severe to fuck with.

I would never give that kind of advice. If it was me, on a cruise to Playa Del Carmen, on my favorite cruise line, departing from somewhere I know I could get to safely, MAYBE in my luggage but ONLY because I understand that process and have cruised many times. I have no experience flying directly into Mexico and in this day and age wouldn't.

I wouldn't do that.

The reason I thought it might be okay, if it's brand new, is that there is head shop called Highway 420 about 5 minutes from where I'm staying in Playa Del Carmen and they seem to be selling vapes (including the volcano):

There is also this:

http://vaporizermexico.com/tienda/

But maybe I should reconsider.

Also there are merchants around the internet who ship vapes to MX. Anyone else with direct experience in MX want to chime in?

P.S. I have in mind an arizer air or solo, which are "aromatherapy" devices. I would get some scents too and bring them together, *IF* I decide to do it.

This is very true. Last August I traveled to Thailand with two counterfeit Pax. I got them there without any trouble. Before leaving I threw them in the trash. Success? Nope. While I escaped without incident I was very fortunate. I know the area I was in well having been there many times before. I knew the scams to avoid and to be careful. I knew the amount of bribe to pay if caught and had it ready to go. I ended up taking a ridiculous amount of risk just so I could vape some shitty Thai brickweed. It was disgusting and I would have been better off abstaining. I regularly saw foreigners being pulled over and searched during this trip. In fact I was pulled over and searched 3 times myself while high. Fortunately I look like a regular citizen. Each time I was pulled over I removed my sunglasses immediately and greeted the corrupt officers with a smile and a friendly hello. All it would have taken though was for one of those cops to demand a piss test (which they regularly do) and I would have been screwed.

I think in this thread people's experiences domestically are often confused with international.

What about a tincture in a small medicine bottle?

I don't think so. Would you get away with it? Probably. Is it worth risking prison? Absolutely not.

Two Australians are about to be executed in Indonesia for importation of heroin. There is a national outrage over this barbaric act. Yet I have no sympathy for them. Whether one agrees with the laws of other nations or not is irrelevant imo. They knew the risk and gambled in the hope of getting away with it and profiting from their actions. However, they were caught and now they will die.

Is the risk of a long stretch in prison over some camnabis oil worth the risk? IMO the answer is fuck no.

International? Bad idea.

Trying to get weed in any form past customs is a bad idea. You're dealing with ppl who are often well trained, and do this every day and have seen it all, or at at least a lot more than you have. They are specifically looking for weed (among other things). Depending on the day / destination, there may be dogs (no amount of sealing that one can practically accomplish will help, masking the odors wont help - dogs are not like humans). Also they can test the substance. etc

Listen - maybe you can be lucky 99% of the time, but if caught with even the smallest amounts which are obviously for personal use, you have a good chance of going to jail, potentially for years. In some countries you get the death penalty.

Are you feeling lucky?
