It's a double whammy because Stephen Colbert is leaving his show or has left. He will have a different type of show when he replaces Letterman on CBS. Some new faces will have to step up.
While watching the SNL 40th anniversary I sure miss some of those comedians that have passed away. I was thinking how I miss Phil Hartman. I know this is off subject.

I agree John Stewart is irreplaceable. He wants to do other things. We will see him in a different venue.

I try to enjoy the nightly show, I just miss the Colbert report too much..
Didn't jon Stewart say he had a few months left? He is truly irreplaceable and one hell of a host. I look forward to his show (and looked forward to the Colbert report) every day after work. Maybe I'll have to find a new activity after work while I medicate..
I have started saying "goodnightly" since the nightly show started..

I think that John's thing is more of an evolution of the daily show than something different; he still attacks these "news outlets", but he focuses more on the corporations and agendas that sponsor them. This brings attention to the cognitive dissonance that they bring to this particular equation, and he still has jokes!

It was a trip for me when I saw that episode.. I can't say it ever crossed my mind before, but early on in the episode, I happened to randomly be wondering about who could possibly replace him, and if he'd ever pass the torch any time soon... and later on in the episode, as he got into his speech, I was like, "Oh shit! It sounds like he's gonna say he's stepping down!", and then he did! and I could hardly believe it 
I think it's a good time though.. I can't imagine who could replace him, but I look forward to seeing how it goes.. I'm definitely gonna miss him I'm just glad it's not gonna be for a little while and that he gave us a good warning like that.. I need the time to adjust!

after going through years of fox, cnn and msnbc i took a few years off from paying any attention to anything news that did not originate in my office or house...then i tuned in to the daily show and real time, it was good to at least hear some viewpoints on current events once again and when i didnt agree with them i could at least respect their perspective, its nice when someone can articulate themselves without resorting to simply saying "im right you're wrong" all the time. thanks for all those zen moments man.
