Think it matters if the 2700's are stored charged or discharged? Although I haven't had many needs to use them lately I have them stored discharged. I usually throw them on a few hours before I know I will need them and charge em up. Thoughts?

I did notice a week or so ago when I charged a pair for a vape session on the ride to the tattoo shop that they weren't as great as I remember. It may have just been the amount of time I've been using the PA lately (like all the time). I've used batteries twice since the WPA came out. Overall, I vape at home 98% of the time.

Sayeth the Googles: NiMH batteries should be stored with a charge in the 40-80% range else the battery life is compromised. I didn't realize how much until I tried to revive my 2700s. I don't know if my experience is typical.

If you have the C9000, run a refresh and analyze on your 2700s and see what capacity you wind up with.

Gotcha. I'll throw them on R&A now. They are about 3 months old. Been stored discharged minus one charge for about 2 months. I'll report back with the results in a few hours.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but has anyone traveled with the MFLB? I'm flying to NYC and wondering if it's worth it to give my box an alcohol bath and toss it in my check through luggage.

It has been asked before and the concencus was to leave it home or clean it up and mail it to where you will be staying.

If you do fly with it, get a pencil box with a bunch of pencils in it, now get a little handheld pencil sharpener and sharpen a pencil, then put the shavings in the trench and remove the stem. Throw it in with the pencils in the box. Could work. :brow:

Yeah, I was thinking that was probably the way to go. Thanks for the tip!

Seriously, when mailing it ahead would it be best to wrap in tin foil the same way you do when mailing in a warranty replacement? I didn't really know what that was for.

I may just have gotten lucky, but I was fine keeping it in the center of my checked baggage. I did give a quick iso wash first, but that was it and the smell wasn't really an issue. I also really doubt they will see a tiny rectangle and decide it is suspicious enough to open your baggage (keep in mind, we all know what an MFLB is because we're here... Can most people recognize it? I think it's hard to say). I also travel with my WDZ, and have had no problems on the 3 or 4 flights I've had. Maybe because they are so unique and not associated with paraphernalia, but I can't say for sure. Safest is definitely going to be mailing it or leaving it home, but I see no reason to think they will actually find anything. It's just the mindset people have--the action is "wrong" and so you naturally think you will get caught. That's the real deterrent to a lot of crime, because many times security just isn't all it's cracked up to be. :2c:

Disclaimer: I am not advocating you travel with it, I am just saying I have and will probably continue to.

lol I just ordered that one as well. I don't have the WPA, I just want a good bong and for $20 you can't go wrong.

Just a thought.
travel WITH that flyer that comes with your box. (seen in my hand)
if you dont have one copy it off the web ("Portable Vaporizer, Use anywhere")
stuff the trench area with dry loose tobacco.. and you are good to go!
Photoon2011-09-29at1626.jpg

"Look for yourself.. it is tobacco!"
... If you are REALLY paranoid, and want to complete this "gestalt" scene with further props... place the MFLB Flyer, and the Box (filled with tobacco) into a pouch of some type with a package of "Bugler".
Nobody should question any further than that....
For any added stealth... wear a pair of Groucho Glasses and a Bozo wig!

I have added these links for your convenience to help your disguise..
You will need your own Launch Box.. Flyer, and Tobacco.

t-dub,
This is all such a gray area, and you have to ask yourself, is it worth potentially missing your flight, or facing criminal charges? The fact of the matter is, if they decided to give your MFLB a swab with a testing kit, it would come up positive and you would be under arrest. Sure they might see the tobacco products and the product explanation and pass you off, but is your time, freedom, maybe even your very asshole worth that risk?

The sad fact is, there is no way to really clean the MFLB.

Completely random baggage searches are a completely commonplace thing in airport security, so don't think they have to see a Volcano in your bag in order to actually have your vape before them on a table, surrounded by other security goons smelling and poking at it.

The only vape that I know of which can be completely, utterly cleaned is the Vapocane. You could carry a sterilized vapocane, an unused pack of screens and a empty jet lighter, and that's about as safe as I figure you could travel. When you arrive you could put it into an apple or something and improvise a stem for a mouthpiece.

You'll love NYC by the way, it's my favorite city in the nation based on a three week vacation there. People are ridiculously friendly, it's totally contrary to the stereotype. Coney Island is a trip, make sure you go, and the museums are absolutely out of this world - do not leave that town without seeing the big ones like the Met and the Gugenheim. Do you know about City Pass? You pay an upfront fee for a fat stack of free or discounted entry tickets into all sorts of museums and sites - mine paid for itself by day like 4, literally. It's a great deal so look into it.

One thing I'll say while we're on the topic is that I'd feel way, way better transporting anything iffy if I were traveling within Europe. European customs IME are kind, efficient, gentle and nowhere NEAR as stringent or invasive as American customs.

That swab does not detect drugs, it detects explosives. The TSA does not have a mandate to enforce drug laws. Even if they recognize the LB for what it is, it is still none of their business.

pakalolo,
Your implication exactly? That they regard obviously used drug paraphenallia as a "whatever" situation? You don't think they have drug testing kits, that drug trafficking isn't aconcern in almost any major airport in the world? That they don't collar and prosecute the majority of people in the hypothetical situation we are discussion? They're not going to just close the suitcase on a dirty, stinky bong for instance - an exaggeration of the used MFLB but the exact same in principal.

I have to agree with Charlie here. The TSA is going to come down on you like a ton of bricks for any drug related BS you happen to get caught with. Anyone here ever watch "Locked Up Abroad" on the Nat Geo channel? Now obviously these people were smuggling but it shows how serious governments are at persecuting people for certain substances. I remember the first time I landed in Taipei Taiwan. The first thing you see when you get off the plane is a giant bill board with big red letters that reads: "CRIMES PUNISHABLE BY DEATH IN THE R.O.C." Drugs is first on the list if I remember correctly.

Don't take this the wrong way guys/gals... But good glass goes a long way. I know not everyone has tons of money, but these budget glass pieces your buying are very frail. If you're going to spend almost $200 on an LB, PA, and wpa... Why not spend a buck, buck and a half on a nicely blown, professional piece.

The differences are intense... Even properly griddled down stems work much better than the cheaper down stems with little slits... And cheap pieces with built in percs usually never percolate efficiently.

But especially with the deals you can get on ehle glass... I would consider upping the glass standards.

Plus, you ever break one of those paper thin glass bongs while you're cleaning it, you get these super thin glass death shards stuck in your hand... Unpleasant... Like when Christmas tree ornaments break.

Just a heads up and a couple opinions from a concerned member of our lovely community.

Do you just mail it to your hotel, and put attention, and your name, and ask at the front desk if you have any mail?
