Athlete Vaporists?

Green goes to brown, n that's what I stand for.
If you're bulking up...ever tried creatine? Me and a buddy shared a purchase of the stuff and I blew up quicker and with less effort but he had a bad time with it...he got bigger as well but he was cramping up all over the place. I never really felt like I was gaining the same amount of strength as the size increase would imply though.
yeah man ive been taking a teaspoon of creatine daily for almost a year along with a gallon of water every day not including other beverages like coffee and alcohol (both of which im working on toning down).
Also I agree with you about the size > strength gains im in the same boat and honestly i prefer it to the alternative :D

FYI I take Creatine, Vitamin D-3, B Complex, Krill Oil, Source Naturals for Men (Multi vitamin), and I switch back and forth between ON and NOW for my whey protien. Also been trying to remember to include some coconut oil in my shakes.

2nd FYI; 1st workout today after 2 weeks of mcuh needed rest and I'm already stronger right off the bat. Best workout yet! Although I dont understand how my bench and squat are equal (been doing 5x5 @ 185 lb for each). Any idea what my squat should be at if im benching that amount?

That's because of the water retention caused by the creatine. It works well for aesthetic purposes. Just not for things where you have physical competition with weight-classes, where you want your muscle to be as efficient pound-4-pound, as possible.

just to put this out there I used creatine for a while had the placebo effect initially and came off the stuff. Creatine can damage your kidneys so be careful. It didn't seem worth risking my health over something that barely works. I think its more of a marketing hype thing so people will just buy the stuff. This is only my opinion do what works for you.

Vapriot, Traveler & Vaporizer/ing lover!
I too share your like for a lift somewhat when it comes to my active lifestyle. Vaporizing before I go for a ride or go to work out has always been good to me. I mean I'm out in nature and fill my body with some too, what a blessing to have and experience. So no, you are not a loon.

I am an avid Mountain biker, mostly ride intermediate to advanced terrain & trials. I average about 80 or so miles a week and my average rides are about 18 - 25 miles at elevations above 6000ft. or higher for the most part. I can say this I use to do that combustion thing myself and at the time still maintained my session before the session routine so to speak. Burning the herbals before never hampered my riding but I did have the throat culture that would make an appearance now and again on my rides or while showering. I'll attribute that to the soot from combustion. :rip:

Now that I have finally only been vaporizing exclusively that issue has all but become a distant memory not to mention finally the even better health benefits by vaporizing and the better highs most of us like as well. :D Thanks for sharing your story and encouraging others also. Cheers!

I'm crazy like you! Avid runner and hiker. I run 5ks and did my first marathon last year. Recently I have been running hurdles at open track meets. Vaporizing is the only way to go! Keep up the hard core training... I love breaking the typical stereotypes lol

The Vape of Things to Come
I was recently reading about nanobots which are designed to carry oxygen in the blood, much like a red blood cell does.

They have been tried in mice, and it turns out they a so much better than normal blood cells at doing the job, that if you replaced 10% of your red blood cells with these, you could take a breath, hold it, and then run for 15 minutes ...or sit at the bottom of your swimming pool for 4 hours.

I was just thinking, it might be nice to have some with slow-release thc added. :)

I'm 56....No marathons for me this year. I allowed myself to get too far out of marathon shape during the holidays for the marathon season in Florida. Got my usual 15k in March which will set my base for the year...maybe next year......Always wanted to do the Disney Marathon. In a few minutes I'll eat a banana and 2 slices of white bread and head out for a 6 mile training run. Perfect weather - Low 50s and sunny.

My first marathon - goal was to run it under 4 hours or under a 10 minute mile average. Came in under the 10 minute mile average but just missed the under 4 hour total when I hit the wall during the last 4 miles. That race taught me the value of negative splits for the novice. Around the halfway mark I passed two gentlemen who were father and son. The father was in his late 70's early 80's and I can't remember how old the son was. Toward the last quarter of the race these same two gentlemen smoothly passed me and I picked up my pace and not long after hit the wall. I met up with the two gentlemen after the race and congratulated them on how smoothly they finished which is when I found out they were father and son. Wish I had done something like that with my father. Made up the miss with my kids though.

Here's hoping all you athlete vaporists tear it up without tearing it down this weekend!

Ran 5ks with my dad up till he passed at 76. Running an open meet this Friday with my daughter. Took my brothers high school record for the 400 hurdles in high school in 1991 and it still stands at 54.6 :)

Running just has a way of bringing people together hah?

Rasta - VERY COOL! Nice time on the hurdles too! I completely agree that running can be a social endeavor. I've run 5k open races with my oldest daughter and son-in-law and I've run open 15k races with my youngest daughter. My brother and I have run the neighborhoods as exercise for many years now. I think the key to social running is what I stress as key for beginning runners.....conversational pace. Too many people take up running to lose weight and get all spartan about it. It really can be fun if you let it be. There's also the alternate side where you occasionally get a wild hair for a personal record...... Still my favorites are the theme races for charity.

What do you guys feel about vaping effects pre-workout and post-workout. Sometimes I need vaping to get me into the gym. Once there, I work out, both cardio and weights, and love the runners high. After I come down from runners high, I'll hit my vape after a cold shower. That is my favorite type of session, I feel like I'm rewarding myself for the strenuous workout and take a few draws from the minivap and I'm good. I think I like this post-workout session the best. You feel good that you exercised (relieves my anxiety and tension) and I'm in such a good mood that vaping only enhances the effect.

I'm not exactly an athlete, but on encouragement from the lovely people here, I've been vaping pre-workout for almost a month. It has been phenomenal.

I hate exercise with a passion. I never want to do it. I had to move it to first thing in the morning so I could rely on my sleepiness to counteract the internal whining. It never lifted my depression, but moving the scale out of the obese range took away some of the fuel for the self-loathing fire, so I've been sticking with it for the past two years. I've only had one positive emotion from exercise in all this time, and that was the day I put on those jeans from high school without sucking in, laying down or doing the hop.

Vaping beforehand is a whole different world. It takes me out of my head where it's all "One more, come on, we can do this, please, almost done with this part, 1 more hour and we can relax..." and my body is just on autopilot. I actually feel my muscles and joints while vaped. It puts me in my body. My workouts have never been so good. I constantly get these waves of feeling amazing, probably the "Runner's high" I've heard fables about hehe. All the tension in my body and mind just vanishes and I am totally in the zone from beginning to end. It's pretty freakin' zen.
:mmmm:

The only downside is it takes longer than it used to because I'm all into feeling the form and taking my time with the strength stuff. And I've been sore for weeks, hehe. But I look forward to working out now. Even when my muscles are screaming at me, I'm just like "Oh gods, yes! Yoga is gonna be SO awwwwwwwesooooommmmme after this!"

I LOVE pre-workout vaping for everything that doesn't require 110% concentration. I.E. Mountain biking a new (to me) trail=no vaping. After working the trail a few times and getting comfortable with the trail....heck yeah I'm vaping! Weights and running - Definitely pre-workout vaping as a way of becoming one with the task at hand. Running to music or any exercise to music is a definite vape.

Post workout vaping....always! Relaxes me and the muscles which is always good for the post workout.

Yea, I would definitely avoid it during mountain biking if dangerous, but my exercising is running on treadmill/park or weights at gym. I also love vaping while playing golf. Couple of my buddies started off the round playing horribly. I gave them one hit from my omicron lite and they loved it. It turned them from complaining grumpy golfers to relaxing and having fun. Also, there is a lot of downtime in golf. I am looking at some new activities for exercise. Mountain biking sounds great because a few of my colleagues are avid riders. Some of my buddies are rock climbers too.

Caffeine has also been found to provide pretty convincing enhancement to athletic performance. I'd agree in my experiences.

My father and his two brothers were accomplished high school/college track and xc runners. I, however, got bit with the cycling bug after moving to a more metropolitan locale. Now it's how I make a living. I'll put down ~150 miles a week for work, with errands and extracurricular riding pushing me pretty close to 10,000 miles a year. That translates to a lot of burritos!

I raced the San Diego Half Marathon today and broke 1:35! A personal best for me. Perfect running conditions... Sunny mid to upper 60s. What can I say... It's rough in San Diego battling these brutal winters LOL.. And no, I don't vape before races, but I'm sure the fuck going to fire up my Herbalizer right now.. My legs are hurting pretty bad!

I like to vape for recovery from races or really hard training sessions. However, if I'm doing a long and slow run, I will often vape a few hits of a strong Sativa either before or sometimes during the run. It increases my focus and takes away the monotony that comes with runs longer than 10 miles..

Further supporting evidence...
For ultramarathon runners, marijuana has enormous benefits. But is it ethical?

Wow! Great articles! I enjoy long runs and getting primed/high before the run and after. A good bit of what I do is covered in these articles and its nice to see some of the reasons why it works for me in print.

For me the hardest part of long runs is the boredom until the runners high and the music meld. A pre-run high allows me to zone out during the first part of the run, get into the music and forget I'm running until the runner's high kicks in and merges with the pre-run high and then, as they say, we are off to the races  Sometimes I'll stack up some topics to zone into and think about before a long run and then drift into the topics along the way. Between the music, topics, MJ and the runner's high I have often got to the end of a run and wondered where the miles and time went. I've got a 15k coming up and yesterday I decided on a scenic 10 miles that is my favorite. I over trained a bit during the week and was sore and had a case of dead leg so I treated myself to a bunch more pre-run vaping than normal. Worked like a charm...relaxed/zoned into the first part of the run thanks to my running partners...Mary Jane and Phillip Phillips and didn't come out of it till around mile 9. I can run without the high but I would have felt every bit of the soreness, dead leg and boredom at the beginning and it would have made it way less enjoyable.

Who names their kid Phillip Phillips lol.. Definitely a good artist though. Yep, I've found long runs and MJ go well together.

I like this thread! It shows that there's not a contradiction between MJ use and being athletic and living a healthy lifestyle. A lot of people still view MJ users as unmotivated slackers who sit around and pig out on Cheetos all day and get nothing done.
