Discontinued The Herbalizer

445 sticks? Hot hot. Ok, i have never breached 420 on flowers, but went up to full power on concentrates. still a little lighter than i like but ill have to try bag and glass vs. Whip only for that so far.

ill give 445 flowers a try later this evening. Got to be awake when the GF gets home on valentines.

Edit. Haha. Just tried free style at 420 mouth up to the vape. Pretty fun for an idiot like me who doesn't mind wasting a half bowl pack.

Doubke edit. Found a perfect all glass 18mm adapter that stands straight up and seems to make a perfect seal with a little pressure
Fill a bag at 445.... takes a minute, and if you try to use the bowl a second time, likely there won't be much vapor.

So that's a minute for full extraction... Give it a shot

The little plastic piece from the end of the oracle whip is great to close off the herbie whip between draws

Hi all. I wanted to ask. Can Herbie produce thick dense hits out of the box with the stock whip. Or is it only good for sipping. Thanks.

Yes... But you can get thicker denser hits quicker (without having to pull for 10+ seconds) with thickier diameter tubing that fits around the herbalizer bowl rather than in it (like the stock whip)

Have you tried the stock whip without the mouthpiece? I thought it improved the whip experience and found I wasn't reaching for the thicker tubing anymore.

Any melting issues or whatnot with non Herbie tube?

Thanks

Personally, I have not found the need for alternative larger diameter tubing. I blow huge dense clouds with the stock whip. I'm a competitive recreational distance runner and have enormous lung capacity and still, sometimes Herbie gives me more vapor than I can handle.... especially using the fan assist feature.

That said, a lot of Herbalizer users prefer the thicker diameter tubing and claim to get denser vapor and quicker hit. I believe some are using SSV tubing. I don't think you need to worry about melting tubing provided you buy tubing from a reputable source, has an appropriate heat resistance rating appropriate for use with vaporizers.

I suggest you try the stock tubing first before buying any alternative tubing. I have no problem with the stock whip.

Hey guys first time poster here and I am currently waiting for my Herbie to arrive. I was interested in getting a pinnacle hydratube for it since I have some store credit where they are sold. I'm kind of afraid to put the water tube on it versus using a bubbler.
I was wondering if some one who has used the pinnacle HT can tell me if it leaks easily if you suck in too hard or accidentally cough or blow into it. I don't want to ruin my Herbie with water.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Thanks John what % of oil would you say gets diverted with your setup? Where do you get the hemp? What is the experience like vaping the hemp?

-----Answer to Vaping with oil on hemp fiber----

I bought degummed hemp fiber online. I can't recall where but I got a huge box of it for $20 or $30 shipped in the US. It will take me years to go through all of this one tiny pinch at a time.

I am not sure exactly what question you are asking. I am not vaping oil. I am vaping flower but some of the thc condenses onto the hemp fiber filter and I can then vape that off like an oil hit. It is very similar to oil but a different thc profile. Oil is extracted usually through butane or high grain alcohol. In my case I am boiling off the thc/cbd and some of that condenses out before it makes it to my lungs. It would not be the same as oil but it affects me similarly. When I can get some oil to my friends I will try to compare effects on different days.

I think the question you are asking is "what % of my hit am I losing by using the filters" I would guess that it is 10% less strong but it is not lost because after about 15 sessions I have enough oil build up for 1 or 2 sessions off just the reclaim hemp fiber. I feel it is even more efficient because my glass never gets that honey buildup that you see others get over time. My glass stays fairly clean at the intake joints but my hemp fibers get really gunked up as well as a nice honey buildup on my glass adapters. I have been cleaning them in a jar of iso every month or so and that jar is now really dark brown. I am tempted to let that evaporate off to see how the reclaim is but I may end up just tossing it since there is a lot of particulate matter in there I don't want to deal with.

Check out my detailed post and follow up posts in the Vaping with Cotton forum. I have pics and a little bit of a scientific experiment showing how my hemp fiber grew in weight over 29 EVO sessions and how I was able to vape that off to get back to my original hemp fiber weight. I would say an EVO session uses and condensates about as much oil as a herbalizer session.

-----Question on Volcano Solid Valve-----

I have a question for those using the Solid valve system. I broke down and bought this really wanting to try it out but for some reason vapor leaks like crazy through the plastic slits. I found a post from mma fighter with the same issue but did not see anyone else have this. I don't have a Volcano to try out but it seems like this problem would happen on a volcano as well. Does anyone have any recommendation on how to fix this?

I also have some newbie questions on using the solid valve that anyone whoever used a volcano probably knows but I don't

1. How much do you fill the volcano bowl when using with the herbalizer letting the thing sit on top? That is a huge bowl
2. Do you use the plunger to pack down the herb or do you leave it fluffy. If you pack it down then how tightly do you pack it down?
3. Do you remove the plunger when attaching the bowl to the balloon? I left mine in but maybe that is wrong. It seems like it would work either way.
4. How do you keep vapor from leaking through the plastic slits? Looking inside it seems like a plastic on plastic seal which would explain the leaks. What am I doing wrong here? I watched a Volcano tutorial video and I am doing exactly the same thing as them yet mine leaks. Do I have a bad solid valve set? I have a good seal to the yellow ring to the herbalizer so I would imagine it would be the same as a Volcano as far as air flow.

I watched a Volcano tutorial video and I am doing exactly the same thing as them yet mine leaks.

This is the one that helped me most;

Don't have/use the part with the yellow ring.

Have been using the "Vape Bags" (available at PIU and other places). Has a tapered end for the mouthpiece so there isn't so much plastic bag to deal with.

Tried to reuse the Herbalizer soft mouthpiece, but could never stop the leaking...even with the pre-packaged ones from Herbalizer.

I've got this going as well. I have a whole bottle of brown ISO that has been building up over a year. I poured about three ounces in a small glass cup and let it sit for a week or two. After the alcohol evaporated, some water was left behind with some particulates and some globs of oil...some floating and some at the bottom. I took some of our hemp fiber and stuck it in the water and it instantly grabbed up the oil, leaving most of the water behind. I then took it and skewered it (I would do this first next time) and hung it out to dry. It's ready to enjoy now and I still have enough dirty ISO to do it about five or six more times! This worked so well I will do it like this next time. I used to let it evaporate until it was nothing but goo in the glass and was a pain to get out. This last step of getting it before it has evaporated and hanging it to dry is great.

Thanks for the quick reply. This will be helpful later when replacing my first bag. Still, it does not answer why my slits are leaking. I bought a brand new solid valve kit and the bag was already installed. I just put herb in the filling chamber, plunged it down, and then attached the balloon piece and after the bag gets about 1/3 filled it starts leaking like crazy through the slits. Is this cause the bag is not installed properly? I really don't want to take apart a bag that was only used once if I can avoid it and want to try other debugging first.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by "skewered it" It also sounds like you just poured a small % of your jar out and let that evaporate. I want to do the whole jar at one time and start over. I have a lot of floating particulate and some hemp fiber floaties in there as well My thought was to use one of those metal strainers for spaghetti that I don't use anymore and pour the jar of brown crud through it into a big pyrek container to remove the biggest stuff and those hemb fiber floaties and then let it evaporate off the pyrex over time. I also though of using a cheesecloth to filter or also a paper coffee filter. I have a feeling that is a bad idea and not much will filter through leaving the good sticky stuff I want stuck to the cheese clothe or coffee filter.

Going forward I am going to keep a small jar just for soaking screens and another larger jar for soaking my glass adapters that get the more pure honey buildup. I am so upset at myself because I had started a jar of 190 proof moonshine and for 6 months got it nice and dark but then accidentally poured iso into it. I had a momentary brain fart that screwed up 6 months of work. I feel a little uneasy vaping something soaking in iso vs moonshine because moonshine I could drink not that I would want to. Moonshine is about 1/3 as good as the 99% iso I use for removing stuff which is why I ended up using iso and then stupidly poured it into my moonshine glass.

As you correctly pointed out the bag may have been installed incorrectly. Out of 4 stock Herbalizer bags that came with it, they all leaked

Shouldn't hurt to take it apart and redo it yourself. I'm not sure if its the "best" filling method, but I just put the mouthpiece on and then press it down onto the filling chamber to push up on the fill valve. So far, so good. I also find it helpful to hold the bag up until it starts to take shape so it doesn't fold over and block the filling spout.

I need to find some non-herb material that I don't mind wasting while I experiment on this. Thanks for the advice. I really want to avoid taking the pre-installed balloon apart but will if I have to. I really want to avoid holding the mouthpiece to be the filler.

Exactly. But the money point was that once it is down to just water and oil, you can use the hemp fibers to 'grab' the oil out of the water for easy reclaim and use.

I will give this a try someday.

This vape is just so precise. i started my morning by ripping three small seperate bowls, one bag each at 360 degrees. I felt very up. About 15 mins later i had one more bag/fresh bowl at 420. very very sideways, in a way i have never felt exactly before. The effect was very balances still, with a little punch and it was perfect for a semi productive sunday afternoon.

I've been lurking this thread since October when I was researching for my first vaporizer purchase. We plunked down the change in December and have been all but combustion free since. Admittedly, I hadn't had much experience with modern vaporizers (a handful of sessions on a Volcano, aside from that a rudimentary soldering iron dome unit) so I don't have much to measure it against. But as a longtime, everyday, recreational smoker I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed with our Herbie's performance. It's been a lot of fun messing with different temps, using various herbs and blends of herbs and realizing the full potential of vaporizing.

I've followed lazylightning's GonG modifications and think it greatly improves the experience and expands the function of the Herbie. I purchased all the attachments from oregonglassblower. I got a 10' section of tubing from Amazon.
Here's my full kit.

It may be time to clean my long whip...
pa5ikKi.jpg

I opted for Tygon Versilic SPX-50 silicone tubing, 3/8" ID 1/2" OD. A small section is used as a gasket between the oven and an 18/14mm GonG reducer.
aOe07EU.jpg

From there we can pop on a whip adapter for a dry whip...
CuhCtAp.jpg

or watertoys!

My trusty Burner Glassworks donut showerhead perc.
b5dcZeV.jpg

Continuing to follow lazylightning's example, we can also stack on an 18/14mm female-female adapter...
SokKQwa.jpg

to run bags through a 14mm whip adapter.
JKNXGWJ.jpg

Pretty happy with the vapebags. They seem almost identical to the stock pieces, I appreciate the smaller size compared to the oven/volcano bags. The whip adapters make filling bags a snap.

I don't find the wider tubing necessary for good draw and big clouds but it's much more convenient, for me at least. The stock whip had a tendency to disconnect from the oven and having a few different lengths is nice. With a low water level the fan assist can bubble through under its own power.
B8qj9qj.jpg

So far I've also tried Holy Basil, Peppermint, Valerian Root, Hops, Lavender and different teas. I find them all interesting and varying in effectiveness. Lavender tastes awesome. Valerian root can knock me right out.

I have to say, I felt the difference in my throat and lungs with the first week or two. The efficiency compared to my old Rizla silvers is beyond what I expected. And now I'm just discovering the cotton filter/wick trick. This stuff just keeps getting better!

Welp, I just wanted to share the setup that's been working for me, and, to say thank you to those that helped me make my purchase and maximize its potential!

edit: I did want to add that through trial and error I've found that a relaxed draw style works best. My preferred method is to just barely pull on the whip/tube and allow the fan assist to do most of the work. No need to suck with fervor, something I had to teach myself after years of smoking influenced how I was trying to hit the Herbie.

I started doing some research and through my own observation realize that the solid valve attachment is a poor design and leaky vapor is all but guaranteed. If the spring were stronger that would help some but AFAIK the problem is because the somewhat weak spring pushes a somewhat wide metal pipe into the metal face of the plunger that pushes down your herb. Metal on metal contacts never make a good seal and if the metal pipe does not line up very well with the plunger it would allow a tiny hole which some vapor will escape through those plastic slits. The only thing I can think of that might help is some kind of rubber seal on the metal plunger. I am thinking to try one layer of electricians tape on the metal plunger. That might be just enough of a seal to keep vapor from escaping that way. It will be hard to cut the tape in a circular way. Time to try though :)

I use a solid valve with a volcano. No leaking from the slits unless its really cold and the valve is sticking. It shouldn't leak.

My metal plunger has a rubber gasket around it to make a seal when it closes.Visible also in the video when he takes it apart. Perhaps yours is just missing? Also, I'm sure you realize the plunger screws in so if you do have a gasket maybe its not screwed down enough to seal properly?

My first solid vslve leaked too

Make sure the bag is nice and tight, I use the o ring and an elastic then slide the plastic clip on top

Also, my housing was defective
, it leaked out of the sides

Story n Bickel sent me a new one.... Haven't had issues since
