The Lotus Vaporizer

You Must Unlearn, What You Have Learned...
I use one of these...
@Gray Area beat me to it. I was going to make my own custom silicone cap (3d printed mold, of course).
But @SSVUN~YAH found these awesome headphone cases, and it's worked perfectly.

I can transport my cap + WPA without any problems. There's also space for a reducer in the case

I took a gamble (colors are random), and got a red one.

For the price, it's build quality is obviously on the lower side. The shell is cardboard covered in fabric But it's small enough to toss in your pocket and know that your cap is safe and sound. I suggest you buy 2-3 if you're going to use them excessively.
They do work pretty well, huh? Big sale can get two for about $5! I typed in the message box when I ordered, I wanted red and silver for my color choices. Those are the two colors I received. I've been missing a flame vape ever since I traded my Lotus, might have to pick up another soon. I really dig the routine of flame vapes as well as the more robust flavors. Hmmn I still have the silver case still so it has a traveling companion too.

It was the plate after all mate... Sorry... :p I don't know what the exact cause is but I suspect it might be that the plate is thicker or that there is something wrong with the alloy and doesn't heat up so much. I have visited a friend and tried a new hot plate and it baked the load as well as usual. But the new plates do need a longer flame! I am pretty sure they are thicker than the past to avoid cracks in the future due to excessive heating. That means I might be right and my hot plate is indeed thicker than the standard. Maybe @Max Jitter could shed some light here... :) I will be using my friend's back-up hot plate for the moment and I hope Max sends a replacement soon after I contact him...
The hot plates have all been the same thickness since version 1. I would have gone with @Ratchett's explanation as to why you weren't getting proper heating (loose inner plate). Occasionally some plates are inconsistent, though they are all made from the same sheet of material. Occasionally two plates nest together and seem like one and are mounted as one. That definitely stops any vaporizing.

I don't know man, The inner plate is not loose and it works fine with a new plate…

Okay, I'm ready and stoked to purchase a Lotus Vaporizer to add to my repertoire of "Toys" but I do have a question(which may have been asked and answered already)…..is the only way to buy one through ordering from the manufacturer? Reason I ask is the "Shops" I have visited in my area do not carry them…as "Blown Glass Things" appear to be really hot around here and people collect them by the "Artist" and these contraptions can cost BIG BUCKS(or maybe I'm too cheap but money doesn't go far on SS# Disability!!!

Take care…..Frodo
I've purchased three directly from Mendocino Therapeutics. I don't think there's anywhere else to purchase them.

Man ive had mine for over 1.5wks now and i just combusted last night, its like a game, to see how much vapor you can produce without damaging the load. Ive got it down pretty good, but mastery? i dont think the man who made the lotus is even a true master, its a life learning experience for everyone. Like a martial art.
Speak for yourself...my hits are perfect every single time, and haven't combusted in six months! My technique is fool-proof...I light for my friends too and they get perfect hits as well. The ABV is always completely extracted, with no charring of any sort. I love my Lotus :)

This probably won't work. :( My sister got some cheapish earbuds that came with this case. It was ever so slightly too small (stir stick killed it). The inside is also a polyester material which worried me. Unfortunate though. A leather store near me sells these cheap little coin pouches that would work wonders. I got one but rolled my car five times leaving the parking lot and decided not to take anything from the car out of some sort of weird superstition (second bad crash that week).

I think i'm experiencing a nesting issue. Picked up a used Lotus a few months ago and it kinda clicks back when heated, reducing airflow. :/ Still seems to work though if the torch is hot enough. I may try to disassemble it and hammer it flat. Should probably just pick up a new plate...

I believe so. There is/was a black v2 in the classifieds recently. ;) But yea. Definitely get one. By far my favorite vape. Simple and efficient.

Might not be be the same headphone case we are talking about. The one we linked to is literally the perfect size for the Lotus cap with the stir stick in it's standard position (not bent). There's even enough height clearance to fit the WPA piece in the webbing part.

Does your hot plate have the old style notches? It may have a crack. Mine does not click at all with the new improved heatplate. With my old plate, it would 'click' when heated with the torch. Take the plate off and hold it up to a bright light - look for any light bleeding through a crack

I have the latest version of the Lotus (smooth plate, no cracks) and the thing definitely pops in and out as it heats and cools. Functions beautifully. I'm pretty sure it's normal

Fascinating! I can see my Hot-plate flex and warp with the heat, but I don't hear it audibly click when the heat hits it

I guess mine doesn't always audibly pop when I apply the torch to heat it, but it always pops a few seconds after I take the torch away as it cools

I'm confused. There are several online stores that sell the lotus. I don't know how good they are but I think I bought at ezvapes or vaporstore at some point.

The popping sound is from the diffuser plate (w the holes) moving up and down as it's pushed by the hot plate. It's called oil canning, from the old fashion round oil cans with flat ends. It shouldn't affect anything.
We are represented in the US by EZVapes and VaporStore; in the UK by Vapefiend and in the EU by Verdampftnochmal.

It does have the notches. It's more of a draw restriction issue though. It is a bit dented which is likely the cause. I'll report back when I find an allen wrench. :)

Perhaps/I hope not. :) The one I had definitely wouldn't have help the wpa upright.

So here's my story. I just got my Lotus and have no problem getting it to vape, but there is a wood smell/taste that is driving me crazy. Please tell that if this is normal that it goes away.

That's good I was having a heat attack. I have owned and sold many vapes over tastes other than my botanicals.

I did a lot of research on the Lotus and never saw anything on break in smell.

... I should probably add that mine is the all natural version.

@Behaviorist we all have a different sense of taste, you may pick up on the little that is there that I never noticed with my taste buds.
Let nimo's answer which seems to indicate they tasted it at first and now they don't ease your mind and enjoy the Lotus.

I never noticed a taste or smell with either of my two (turquoise and natural) I did notice a slight taste/smell with my MFLB and a terrible hot glue gun smell before using my Alfa.

Seems worse through the 15" pipe. When using it through the J Hook I'm getting good flavor, weird. Hopefully it resolves as I can see this things potential immediately.

I have had the pleasure of using three different natural finish lotus caps and all of them had a slight but noticeable "woodiness" to the taste for the first couple bowls once I got past 3-5 sessions or so I don't think I recall it. I wouldn't let it worry you :2c:

Still love my lotus! The beast still sees daily use with an ever growing collection of vapes to choose from.

I noticed a slight "fresh cut wood" aroma for the first few goes too when I got my natural cap.
Like @Puffers after a only a few loads that was gone and had nothing since but the taste of whatever I put in the bowl
