So a few people on here like to keep their ground herb in pre ground in a plastic doob tube holder, which is great for taking your stuff on the go without the need for grinder and bag of herb.

What method are people using to get the herb from the doob tube into the glass stems? Sometimes can be easier said than done when on a street corner say.

@OF, I think you recommended the use of a doob tube for storage?

Thanks :)

After changing your trousers, and stopping by the church to renew old acquaintances, I suspect you'd be asking 'who has the lowest price on AIR'? And a changed attitude about saving a few bucks.

OF

Kinda reminds me of the time Bob Dole (of Viagra fame) was asked whether he prefers boxers. Or shorts?
His response? "Depends."

So change trousers? And Air it, OF? In the navels of the church? Bummer.:hmm:

Everyone has do what they are comfortable with. The web is a wonderful thing but is full of just as much misinformation as information.

Living in Europe I do not have the option of getting @CentiZen's affordable batteries as anything caught at the border can end up costing a ridiculous amount in import duties and $14 for shipping.

I also fly model aircraft. There we use LIPO batteries which typically discharge at >20C. These need to be charged in an ammunition box if you want to be really safe. All high power/discharge batteries can be extremely dangerous and need to be treated with care. I once ditched a plane in the water and it immediately caught fire.

I agree that for a few bucks its worth minimizing the risk. Please be safe everyone.

Yeah, I'm prolly guilty of this one too. I'm a big fan of 'em. I buy them a 100 at a crack, I'm nearly out of the blue ones, after running out of the red ones. I've give well over 100 away (by the hand full sometimes) to happy campers far and wide. I've also sawed some back to make 'em shorter for easy carry (in fact I sometimes carry one in a two battery 18650 box with a spare battery on the other side.....).

I'm old school. I dump a bit into my left palm, put the cap between two fingers and scoop it up with the stem in my right. Usually holding the open tube in two other fingers while I do so. Any left over bud (there's usually not much if any, it's easy to learn how much will be needed) is swept off my palm and back into the vial before recapping. Almost automatic by now since I started doing it a while back with Solo. No trouble loading outside, even in the wind, really.

I used to use a small (one ounce or so) screw top vial big enough to get the stem into for 'suck it up' loading, but that didn't carry at all well. I also tried these guys:
http://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/plastic_containers/hinged_containers/233

The half ounce size rides in the pocket better than the jar did. Then, one night I decided to drive up into the local park to enjoy nature and count stars. Cold fingers trying to unlatch the lid spilled all the herb in the known world into the gravel and I had to drive back to get more........

Risk and benefit again.

Although a different (and less stable) chemistry is in play with LiPOs it's a matter of degrees threat wise. There are also additional protections (over current, over temp and over pressure) built into 18650s. But, like all other threats in life, best to understand them, respect them and avoid as many as possible?

You're spot on, there is a 'known safe' alternative at a very reasonable price. The chance of a downside disaster is small but very easy to avoid completely. We're here to enjoy vaping, not worry about safety?

BTW I once worked for a guy that put the company (leased) six passenger Cesna dual engine into Monterey Bay (where Clint Eastwood would later be Mayor....). He topped up fuel at the airport before departure. The 16 YO girl daughter of someone (who didn't even have a drivers license it turned out) drove out, saw the 'turbo' on the engine cowling and figured that meant 'turboprop' not 'turbocharged' so she gave him jet fuel rather than av gas. Kerosene, not gasoline. Dyed different color for the obvious reason.

Our hero shows up, signs the receipt without checking, was too busy to sample fuel as required (both for color and lack of water in the tank) and went flying. Just enough real fuel to think about folding up the wheels (estimated 30 feet and 200 yards out) when both engines caught fire at full throttle as he crossed the shore climbing. With the sun going down. No chance of return. He rolled over, bellied in about 200 feet out and sank in 30 feet of surf.....everything running. Salt water to boot. Total write off. He said there was smoke and steam rolling out from the dash as he scrambled for the hatch. All four aboard wet and cold but OK. A dozen people (including a Sheriff eating a bag dinner) watched the burning airplane run down the beach and splash. I always miss the fun stuff.

Be glad you weren't in that helicopter?

Thanks. Good points.

On a hunch that the Air would fit I picked up this Universal GPS case last night for $2.48 at one of the closing Radio Shack stores.

imagejpg1_zpsfac7842e.jpg

For the price I couldn't pass it up.

As you can see here the Air fits length wise perfect, with plenty of extra room for stems, spare batteries, herb, etc.

This is not something I intend to carry around for regular use, but something to pack everything in for a trip, or overnighting.

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right

Also a big fan of the "toob". I find the cap holds roughly .05g which is ideal for most of my vape loads. Cap flips over nicely into whatever bowl I'm using.

Alternatively I tilt the toob and roll it (like a cement mixer) and let the material slide into the bowl.

Like @OF I have several of them, many cut down. At about half size that's about three or four loads and I can carry a couple of varieties of herb in smaller toobs.. Usually more than enough to outlast battery capacity on most portable vapes.

So how about it, is it airtight and smell proof? lol :-)
Sorry @Barhen , didn't get back to you. I don't notice a smell coming out of that case....but then I'm kind of insensitive to the smell of cannabis having been exposed to it all my life.
For anyone confused this is in regard to an earlier post.

To @bluenavey00 : I can't recommend seller yet, I haven't received anything from them before. I just typed in the Gigaware Hard-Shell case into eBay search and chose this one out of California.

I'm pretty happy with the eGo case I referred to above, works great and I suspect has more room than the Gigaware case. However, I can see this Gigaware case being useful for some other ideas as well so I got it. The eGo case pictured in that post was purchased from Fasttech for $3 including shipping, which takes 13 days.

I also got this container for my cannabis. Looks like it'll fit in the case nicely.

All the best !

I'm such a sucker...

While PlanetVape had them in stock I went ahead and ordered a 14mm and 18mm GonG, both with the turbo option. I have, and love, an original PV 14mm GonG. But knowing me, and my habit of breaking glass a spare was in order. Went for the 18mm because I have a couple pieces that size already, be nice to see what it can do without all the restriction.

BTW,
I'm digging this Can$/US$ conversion currently, saved me nearly $12(US) which is more than their shipping costs.

FYI guys and gals, planetvape is restocking gongs right now and the turbo is available in both 14mm and 18mm, get em while they're hot!

I'm in for an 18mm turbo, thanks!

Hey people, there's a new Youtube comparison review for the Air vs. Solo, posted about 6 days ago, check it out:

If you havent seen this dude before, check out his Arizer Air review, he's infatuated with it to the point where I thought he was a spokesman for Arizer. He actually was a big reason why I decided to go with the AA, he seemed very sincere about it.

I see all the messages about screens going by. I have switched to not grinding at all and simply putting a complete piece of bud in. This is less material because it does not pack as tightly as ground material. So no screen at all. The holes in the stems that come with the air are considerably smaller than the Solo and the capacity is smaller so I find it ideal to use it this way. ...

I also haven't seen a need for screens in the Air stems(used with my solo) whether I use them with Nugs or shredded bud. I also find nugs give you some awesome flavor compared to ground, since getting 'em I prefer the air stems now for long tasty sipping sessions.

What stem provides the best, fastest extraction of a load? I got a vortex stem coming. Was a spur of the moment decision, hoping it works.

You don't get a fast extraction with the Vortex stem with the Solo. I haven't tried mine with my Air but I would think it would work similar. It has the thicker glass so it takes a little longer to heat up.

I noticed that Planetvape advertised the stem suggesting it extracts your meds quicker. It's a more take your time and enjoy the full flavor of the herb that you are using. Yes it does extract the meds very well.

It will definitely cool your vapor with the extended air path. The Vortex stem is an inch longer than the standard straight Solo stem. It has a Vortex pocket between the herb and the air path.

I highly recommend the Vortex stem and have been using it exclusively with my Solo since I received it 2 weeks ago. I will give it a try with my Air.

I ordered the screens that @Sinclue suggested for the Air. I also ordered a hard case too. I will take a picture when I get it.

Really liking the screens recommended by @Sinclue and @OF (and I know a few others too). I was able to really push it down so the bowl size doesn't get too small. Screen is very secure in there. I have noticed that I really like to pack bowls. With the ecig mouthpiece the resistance doesnt seem too bad. Bowl lasts much longer this way.

Hi guys!

Anybody know why I m getting so few clouds with the small stem? I m been using an Ascent for a year and I think I have some experience. I got my air a week ago and been trying it with the small stem and the results have been disappointing. Yesterday I gave a chance to the big stem and what a nice surprise: the clouds came big and easily, better than Ascent imo. I really don't understand, what is going on? Anybody have noticed something similar? What I m doing wrong with the small stem?

Thanks

Edit: Mystery solved! Nothing like ask the world to find the answer by yourself... At the beginning for stealthiness I put a thin black sleeve but I didn't realize it was a bit too long and the stem didn't go to the end by 1 mm or so . It was all the problem, sleeve out and big clouds came from the small stem too

Just broke one of the small stems with mouthpiece... I guess they weren't designed to be thrown

Anywhere in the US that sells the stems with mouthpiece?

In my defense, i didnt mean to throw the stem.... In Arizer's defense, it hit the ground pretty hard and only the bowl end broke off on about 40% of the area you pack with herb. Pretty tough things. I expected it to shatter.

How do you throw a stem without meaning to? Well..... After the kids went to sleep me and the wife were playing around and after a few sessions... We started throwing the kids toys at each other... I had a handful of play-doh in one hand and the stem in the other.... I guess i grabbed the stem with the wrong hand

I guess that means it works though

Puffitup has them.

Sorta. They are almost surely the original (70mm) version with the full size bowl, not the shorter (60mm) version with 'shortie' bowl shipped with current units. AFAIK the factory is the only place that sells all 3 versions. PV is getting them 'any minute now' (no doubt with PIU right behind therm). But for now the only source a replacement we know of is Canadian. If being longer with the same size bowl as the all glass stem if fine by you, jump on it.

Best retailer ever imo. Don't throw the stem next time ;)

Naw, only problem he has is aim. Next time aim for a pillow......

Better than tossing it out the car window late at night as flashing lights close from astern......as can be traditional in sometimes.
