FWIW for some reason I can't view the much discussed video. I'll go back and try some more later, but I gather from some of 'the usual suspects' I really haven't missed much?
I couldn't view it either when I used the link from their email, but @VoodooChild posted it on page 135, and I was able to watch it there. EDIT: oh, I see that you've since gotten it.

Yeah if you or someone could link to where you saw that it'd be awesome, otherwise I'll probably just wait and see what FC thinks about it in hand.
Not sure I'll be able to, but will try.

I no, to me it's for people who are almost might aswell do a bong, and maybe are still smoking cigs aswell, i don't want anything over 190c & never over 220c judging on what this says....

http://www.zamnesia.com/content/284-vaporizer-temperatures-for-cannabis

This is a good read. It is about the same information that was in the thread I was talking about but the one you found might be a little easier to follow than the thread I've read on here. The only plus for the higher temps that I can see is if you have real fresh material and it is not wanting to vape that easily. I know I would rather have a larger range to choose from than be restricted in my options. Imo.

That article, like most I've seen on this subject, leaves the impression that the temperatures are binary points when in fact they are maximums. The compounds begin to be released long before the listed temperatures are reached. Selecting a specific temperature only biases the ratio of compounds. You cannot select only THC by using a temperature of 157°C. I've explained this more completely in the thread you mentioned.

As far as the video is concerned, I see no reason to think combustion is happening. There was a little light-coloured ABV in one of the shots. Since they made no effort to show it to us, I don't think it was there just to deceive us about the possibility of combustion.

You can still use that email they send to sign up with a different email to pre-order...That's what I did.

hehehe, good idea! I just might do that. Or I might wait till it's released and see how FC reviews are, hehe, same indecision that kept me from pulling the trigger when my original pre-order request came around...

I thought the video was fine. I don't believe their intention was to produce a professional video for marketing purposes. They just had a couple young girls drop by to try it out and show the basic functionality of the device. If you haven't noticed by now, that's the way these guys roll.

What impressed me was the enormous vapor production achieved from very short pulls. Just think of the clouds you coud blow with say...a 15 second draw!! I can't wait to get mine and give it a full workout!!

While I agree that it wasn't a "professional" grade marketing video, it was, nonetheless, a marketing video, albeit a very amateurish one.

Considering how the editing was done, can you really tell if those pulls were really short?

Like I said, that's the way these guys roll. I purchased the device based on their engineering background and their design concept, not their business and marketing acumen.

Iwein, I really don't think they're trying to pull the wool over your eyes. I personally think these guys are straight up and the device will function as advertised. You have every right to be skeptical, but I'm not.

Really? Just out of curiosity, what would you expect from such a small size? With the power requirements and the necessary heat insulation in such a small package, I'm impressed.
I was speaking more so on the year+ wait combined with what today imo is not something I would want. a year ago however I was close to giving them my money. I still wish you all best of luck. I just am glad I didn't make the commitment.

idk, I mean, I'm not among those who have thought this was a scam, but I think that regardless of how well it actually functions at this stage, they're going to want it to seem amazing -- I thought the video was transparent in that regard. It could have been completely straight forward, but that wouldn't even be typical, and it's not the sense that I get. Not saying it's definitely combustion, but what was shown does not compute for me.

If it's combustion than it's not pure convection and that is a complete lie. Just think that should be stated. This speculation is fun because eventually there will be a conclusion. I could care less who is wrong but we would all be better off if this thing works as poorly advertised.

I've loved the idea of the Grasshopper from the outset. It's such a shame the video they put out wasn't more informative and, dare I say, professional - they haven't done themselves any favours in that respect IMO.

I'd really love for this vaporiser to deliver as per spec...... but, I still think that remains to be seen. :2c:

I'd simply like them to deliver already. Could care less about videos or the like. If it works so well, why isn't it shipping already?

Probably waiting for the final boxes

I wonder how many diehard Grasshopper fans have one of these sitting in front of their house awaiting shipment of their new vaporizer?

They changed their specs on the grasshopper, it is no longer "100% convection," but rather "primarily."

I'm curious if the oven would be large enough? The video was choppy and I could tell it was edited quite a bit. I couldn't tell how many draws the one gal on the right was getting, she kept dumping out her material and reloading. It did give big clouds but we really don't know what they were vaping, but that's with any video.

The Grasshopper vaporizer concept is a wonderful idea. We've been waiting for a vape that does a good job vaporizing flowers in a discreet way for a long time. I agree with @Seren. I was very disappointed in the video. It wasn't done in a professional manor and I think it will hurt their company more than it will help them. It looked like it was geared toward college students which is fine.

I didn't find that it gave any detailed information or show anything that would be helpful for those of us watching closely. I thought the video cheapened the product they were trying to sell and promote.

They needed @Vitolo promoting their product, now that's a salesman.

On the information page: https://www.grasshoppervape.com/information/grasshopper/

they still claim, under Product Features that it is convection:

Design Features
• Specifically designed for dry or loose-leaf herbs

• Easily accessible chamber and temperature dial

• User-replaceable battery

• Pure convection technology

What is the capacity of the Chamber?
The chamber is 1.2cc. It fits about 1 tablespoon of loose herbs

? meaning up to .4 grams of herb Right?

I passed on my preorder the first time because there wasn't any video and a late change to the vape itself but now I'm going to pull the trigger on the grasshopper.
I still want to know how many hits you get from one chamber load. Little disappointing the battery last 3-4 chamber loads....hope they've based it off the highest level.
Looks like I need 2 extra batteries

I think that the majority of vape enthusiasts are outside of the FC forums domain, and will likely be more impressed and less critical than we are, so I doubt GH's sales prospects will suffer much if any due to videos that leave us with more questions than answers. At best, the video is just another tease to keep the ball rolling, IMO. When finally released, user reviews will serve to ultimately determine the success or demise of the pen over time.

I found myself wondering who exactly they think their target audience is, based on that video. Vaping geeks would rather see another vaping geek showing all the geeky features (I know I would)...dopey stoned college kids probably have better fantasy spokeschicks than those two (I know I did, I think....hazy memory). The marketing approach kind of reminds me of the way the Pax has been marketed, as the vape for people who haven't vaped much, and maybe don't know too much about vapes. Just my impression from that video, along with feeling like I made a good decision not to pre-order.

And I am not claiming that those things are combusting, because I have no idea, but I agree with the folks who say it looks like they are...a lot of that "vapor" looked much more like smoke to me than thick vapor. I've pulled some thick vapor in my day, but I've never really seen it look like that, unless combustion occurred.

Overall a video clearly aimed at someone other than me.
