Is there a way to update the firmware? That is without it having a problem and you getting a new one.
I'm over 58 hours with v2.04, but I guess new versions are V2.05.
Honestly I haven't notice any real difference btw the 2.04 and 2.05 firmware. I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't think S&B wants users attempting this (what would be required to update the firmware).
Not exactly as simple as updating your phone.

cool, if you have also the software I will try it on my mighty.....
I don't think it will be more difficult than a custom rom upgrade on a smart phone..... :peace:

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
It stands to reason that they wouldn't do a firmware update without reason. How many people's units might be involved is, of course, unknown.

Seems like that since they have this nice little App why not be able to upgrade firmware via that or release a newer version?

While it hasn't bothered me in use near the end of a second session I will get a message that says something like "Your battery is too cold and needs to be warmed up to continue" Mind you, this is at the end of the session and nothing is cold about the unit. But I just hit "ok", the message goes away and things go on without interruption (continues to run, heat, etc.). As it hasn't manifested itself as a problem in use I haven't been to concerned about it. But if it turns out to be the first step in some other problem that's different, of course. I wonder if that's a firmware issue which is why I wonder about firmware updates.

I ordered directly from S&B and asked about the issues. They said that they did have problems at the beginning but they have been sorted out on the newer units. Who knows if this is true or not.

But if "sorting out" the issues involves a firmware update that might be good to know. Especially for those who have passed the 50hour mark and are sort of waiting for the problems discussed here to develop.

Or perhaps it had nothing to do with firmware and those of us pushing 60 hours and above have problem free units?

Mine gives me the same message after back to back sessions, but so far has not affected the operation.

The way I see it, if the crafty breaks during normal sessions , I have a 2 year warranty to back it up. I'm good with that for now.

My Gf and I both use it 2-3 times a day, so about 6 total sessions and most of them back to back. I also plug it in to charge right after use, but have yet to use it while charging.

I'd rather use the device and enjoy it, then constantly worry about when it might break. This is a Vape after all, and it should be about relaxing rather then stressing us out.

A list of changes in v2 based on solely my experience:

  • 2.05 firmware (duh)
I do not think there is anything wrong with unfaulty 2.04 units. My Crafty behaved really weird after about 5 hours of use(!) (wouldn't automaticly turn off nor stop flashing, wouldn't react on double click, reset helped) - perhaps it was a calibration issue on a particular set of machines. Anyway it's an awesome vape and all got sorted out within a week.

  • "Click" lock on cooling chamber mount
I do not remember it doing that.
  • light blue o rings :D
  • Not as smooth turning, safer built mouthpiece - but could it be because it's new?

How thick are the craftys clouds? And how efficient is it with oil. I'm thinking of trading my evo for a crafty as I never use the evo anymore. Let me know

As thick as any Vape can possibly get IMO. Especially on max temp it's like blowing out a gigantic lung buster bong rip it almost feels like your smoking. I'm a combuster and the crafty still does it for me because of the huge clouds. Get it and don't look back

At full temp with a freshly packed oven the closest thing I can compare it to is a good bong hit. It's so thick that I tried it once when I first got the thing, and haven't done that again since.

How much is needed to pack an oven. And any thoughts on oil efficiency?

That surprises me to be honest. My Plenty and E-nanos both deliver heavier vapor than the Crafty. Don't get me wrong, I love the Crafty but while the vapor is suitably dense and powerful, it is not my heaviest hitter at all.

Well, DV's comment doesn't imply that it is a denser hit than a desktop unit can give...
The Plenty for once has a much bigger load capacity so the hits can be denser by default and the e-nano can go to temps that the Crafty can't so again the hits can be denser with the same load. That doesn't mean though that a Crafty hit can't whitewall any bong or bub out there!

I usually get about five good 5 sec hits per bowl at max temp. what about you guys?
It's all in the bud. You only get out what you put in. I have diffrent results everytime with different types of bud.
One thing is consistant if the bud is absolutely saturated in ripe trichromes your pretty much going to get good vapour if temps are right!!
Some bud i get looks like its covered in trichromes but when you look closely they are all dehydrated because it's not been dried correctly. Some of the growers round here are pretty shite!!!

Hi, I am a new member here. After years of rolling my own, I want to buy a vape. I have been looking through the forum and as well as the net and have seen great things about the Crafty.

Can anyone summarize what the issues were with the Crafty and have they all been fixed? Is there a certain serial number and / or firmware number that I should be looking for when buying?

One last question, is there any point getting the Mighty over the Crafty?

Thanks,
Ken

I can't answer your questions, Ken, but can say that my frequency of use equals yours, and I have a Crafty, along with a pax and magic flight, and think the crafty is the best. It will meet these needs.

I use about 0.1-0.2 g per oven, it varies a bit depending on grind consistency, but this will usually fill it. I would say a little less than half of what I load my cano solid valve with. I'm not experienced with oils, so cannot comment there, I'm sure someone else can chime in.

I can only comment from my experiences, which has been limited to my Cano, Vapman and the Crafty. One of my friends has an iolite, which I was not a fan to say the least. Out of my vapes the crafty has delivered the biggest hits I've had. The cano at max is about the same but feels smoother. The crafty at max makes me cough my lungs out, now I just keep it at 180c and get very satisfying clouds.

I'm going to soak my crafty for the first time soon in alcohol. What percentage of alcohol should I get? And how exactly does this process work to get the goods inside?

Thanks

use Isopropyl or Ethanol if you can, only need to soak for about half an hour, don't soak for longer than an hour [manual advised against it], be sure to detach all the o-rings [do not soak these in alcohol as they are not designed to withstand alcohol]. It's pretty basic, just take apart your chamber and chuck in in a jar with alcohol, give it a good swish around, leave it for a bit and swish it around some more, then put the jar on it and keep it in the fridge [or a cool dark space], everytime you need to clean your crafty just repeat this and soon your reclaim will become a beautiful golden/brown/amber colour, when it's to the point where you can barely see your fingers on the other side of the glass, then i'd purge it on a low temp [you should do some extra research into purging alcohol but i assure you it's super basic, but you need to keep in mind you are working with a flameable substance, with the right information it's a very risk free process]

I got my Plenty today and charged it up. Also downloaded the App.

What temperature setting do most of you use?

Do you use the filling device? Seems like an unnecessary step.

Wow that's a first hearing the E nano gives bigger hits then the crafty! I thought the crafty had the biggest hits of all! How much hotter does the enano get? What's the differences and pros and cons between the two Im curious! I heard the e nano U can't pack that much in the bowl. It probably tastes better then the crafty since the buds aren't exposed to the hot stainless steel conduction the crafty has. That's the ONLY problem wth the crafty is SOMETIMES it can be a LITTLE harsher then other vapes because of the conduction or plastic? I am not sure which one. Damn now i want an e nano :-( ! But I don't think its as good for portability seeing as how you would have to pack it so much and the glass stem so the crafty is still the best for convenience and true portability IMO

And to what MGG said I think I heard you CAN soak the o rings in ISO. Someone correct me if I'm wrong because I have been soaking them and I didn't notice any difference. They get real sticky so I can imagine they picked o rings you can soak in ISO.
