Hello,

***TLDR need help using globe tank properly with wax...***

so i guess i'll try this again, with less story telling!

New to vape pens, new to globes, to concentrates in general really.

having mixed luck with the prefilled carts, and decided to but a Globe Tank and a bit of wax to go the concentrate route...

Knowing how so many of these pen companies are just relabeling and price adjusting standard Chinese parts, I grabbed a "Globe Tank" from a local smoke shop... Ceramic cup, wicked coil glass globe.

So. Loading the wax carefully into the ceramic cup; little booger ball of wax, sort of rest against ceramic edge and coil, globe it, fire it. Wax ball melts, smoke (vapor?) clouds, hit pulls...

first and second hit tastes great, third tastes foul- little plasticky, little burny... this cant be right.

So Do I hold button, let go, puff cloud? Or hold while I hit it straight through like with the carts. How do I know when wax is gone? am I supposed to always leave a little? (Other than taste, I'm scared of ruining coil dry firing) If wick burns, visibly or to taste, is that it? Broken? Or just less tasty? If it tastes bad, should i let it go and use another atomizer?

So, what do?

Pulse the button, don't just press and hold. About three seconds at a time... because, yes, the wax/oil will burn from the heat, and will taste bad.

The coil material may give off a flavor, too... I prefer the ones from W9Tech, as they are Ti Gr 2 wire, and have a lot less taste.

Don't overload your cart, you should be able to get 4 - 6 off a dab, IMO, and, yeah, when you notice less taste, time to check the cart to reload. The globes and the open pan type of cart with the coil/wick are meant to "load as you go"... IOW just a dab at a time. There are other ways to pack a whole day's worth with no reloading, but those kinds of carts/tanks can be a little tricky to use (I had issues)...

Enjoy!

but what about the off taste? will it always give a "taste" when i fire it if the wax is gone? if it DOES have a taste, did I screw it up? I'm loading little bally balls of wax, right on the coil... am I supposed to load the cup instead? seems like itd all melt below the coil...

you should avoid firing it when it's close to empty. the wax prevents the wick from burning, which causes the burnt, plasticky taste you were describing. Add enough wax to completely cover the coil. if it still tastes burnt, the cartridge is ruined. that's fairly common with those cheaper atomizers. you can probably replace just the coils though for a couple bucks.

if you want to upgrade I'd recommend something like this: http://thevapelifestore.com/collect...er-other/products/vaped-xl-skillet-attachment

Word. So how much is loaded in these things typically? I wanted an easy way to toke little boogers of wax, etc, but if I need to keep the coil covered, then maybe I can't afford this game.

Am supposed to throw a gram in at a time? My only frame of reference is bud. You throw in what you want, smoke it, tap it. Done. Not gonna ruin the pipe to try when it's already cashed... But with this shiz? Am I out of luck as a loadasyougo solution? The way it sounds is that I need to leave a little in the tank. AT $40/g?...

Your loading it wrong. Just a small bit goes on top the heat coil, and then you pulse the button to gently melt into the wick to prep it.

Stuff in the ceramic bowl needs to be moved back on to the coil/wick. There are two ways to do this: hold the pen upside down or at an angle (look where it has pooled in the bowl) and use gravity to melt it back into the wick or use a toothpick to manually place it back on the coil. Using gravity is much safer as a pick has potential to damage your coil/wick.

Ahh! sorry for the delay in response...

Yeah, That's pretty much what I've been doing, but how do I avoid "the burn"? Is there a way to get everything you loaded without the burnt taste? Or is that always gonna happen if you try to get it all: dry wick=burnt wick? Or am I being to fussy? Is it ALWAYS gonna taste like shit cos its a little tiny ghetto heater coil made in some crazy part of the world where they also use sewer oil?

I had this same experience a few months ago. I think the wick got toasted and the taste never went away. Don't despair though, for $10-15 on ebay you can get a pretty good Seego with 2 spare coils. I have the vhit b-type and it has lasted a while with decent taste. If you get the Ti coil with ceramic wick that would be even better, not sure if the vhit has that yet though, but I know the Glacier does and I also have and recommend that tank.
As far as loading/vaping, I aim for a chunk big enough for about 3 hits and pulse the button when drawing in 1-2 second pulses, mainly because I fear heat lol. If you hold the button too long not only do you risk burnt wicks, but all your flavor terpenes burn off and the 2nd and 3rd hits don't taste so good imo.
Good luck, hope you get it dialed in!

Also if you are the point of giving up on the coil try soaking it in Isopropyl alcohol, sometimes you can wash the taste out. I usually let it air dry and put a drop or two of e-cig juice on it then burn it and any Iso remaining off the coil. Maybe not the most sophisticated tech lol, but suits me..
