New to the anti-combustion scene...looking to build my first/own Arduino R4 based e-nail :D My biggest hurdle right now is choosing a coil. I've got 4-6 options laid out after a few days of research but it's tough to find longevitiy / warranty info on most of them. So far I've found no warranty coils for around $50 and 180 day warranty runs about $85. Also after reading through this entire thread it seems the 250W coils are better than the 100W but it seems most international sellers sell a "US market" one that is 120V100W, any input on this appreciated as well, thanks in advanced!

i was looking around and on gimido it says the 4pin mini xlr coil uses the same oneas the "Humboldt" one. Its 75$ plus tax and shipping, so itll be better to buy replacement coils from them instead of gimido since the coil itself is 60$ plus around 30$ shipping. Save a difference of 15$ ontop of that its shipped from the US. Or buy it from 710Electric for 60$ coil, they also sell gimido enail kit for 275. I have no idea where the company is located yet, but apparently they ship with DHL.....

http://710electricco.bigcartel.com/products

I think their wholesale from gimido and sell it back on their site.

Gimido also added the option of having the 4pin xlr or the 5pin xlr with the enail kit now.

Looks like a job for!
If we go strictly by cost, the things I attach to my glass pieces usually cost more than the piece themselves (thank you DHGate!) so it's a non-issue for me.

Yeah I feel you man, my setup is all around the same cost right now with just a cheap ass drop down.

On a related note I finally got my 4 drop downs from the vendor "dkglobe" on DHgate, and all 4 are crooked and tilted in the exact same way, but eh $4 each is hard to beat.

After using the Domeless.com nail for a few days, I like it but I find it too restrictive to use with most of my pieces. The only one it works well with is the FC187v1 which I had previously written off as being too airy. I can medicate fine through my other pieces but the restriction makes them not function as well as I'd like, so that kind of limits its use for me. That said, I do still like it and the dab-through carb cap works well and seems to provide a smoother hit. I don't like it as much as my SCS OmniNail and carb cap but the it also costs $150 more. If the airflow was better I think I'd have a much more favorable opinion of it.

Found a new project by a guy who's trying to build a next-gen e-nail based on Raspberry Pi:

Touchscreen controls for making adjustments:

I think you can put a lot of tech into the box, but aside from being cool I'm not sure how useful some features would be. Could be a good interim solution though to get the market moving in that direction and coming up with new uses for it. He says he'll be producing them but also open sourcing the software and project. One potential feature I can think of would be a cleaning cycle where you press a button and it will ramp up the temp to clean the dish and then automatically go back down after X minutes so it's ready for your next hit. Long term I'd ideally I'd like to see a box as small as possible but with the option of adjusting it via a smartphone app and maybe IFTTT support.

------
On the nail side, D-Nail has a new SiC (Silicone Carbide) nail in the works. Seems one of the main advantages is that you can clean it just by wiping it with a cloth and flavour is improved over titanium.

seems like theres no difference between ordering from 710eletric or from gimido, since what 710 does is based in the US, California but says they ship from china.

I have one of these caps. It did not fit down on the infiniTi nail so I had to use a diamond dremel bit and shorten the input shaft so it would make a seal all the way around. Taste is great but I do not like not being able to use the whole surface area of the nail. I might have to crank up the temperature because it never seems to finish a dab, I can get 10 wispy hits vs what would be one big hit with a HE cap.

I think your issue is that you are using a carb cap designed specifically for the domeless.com ceramic nail.

I have not heard of others using the dab cap on Ti nails before...

I think the cap works very well indeed paired with the ceramic nail it was made for...

I contacted them first they told me it does work with it. What would the material the nail is made out of have to do with how well it functions? I believe having access to less nail surface area has more to do with it. Mine works about the same as the video above, notice the bubbler never seems to clear and it takes a few hits and stays cloudy.

I didn't mean the material used, I meant the sizing. You said you had to cut the intake tube down. So i assumed that the cap was not meant to work with the HE Ti nails etc. since it doesn't fit without modification. Maybe domeless.com could make a cap specifically for the TI nails in 16mm and 20mm.

With all that said I do find that I need to get the dab cap to the same temp as the nail for it to function well. No use putting a cold cap on the nail and then dabbing. I wonder if the TI and Ceramic don't get to the same temps at the same time due to having different specific heat capacities. Perhaps if there is a temperature imbalance this is causing your issues?

Still no tracking number from Gimido on the 4th day after placing my order. Sent them an email saying if I don't have a tracking number by the time I go to sleep I'll be requesting a refund through PayPal. I could walk down the street and pay a few bucks more and have one in my hands today.

You're counting business days (M-F) and not calendar days, right? Requesting a refund probably won't do any good, you'll probably be using it before Paypal finishes their investigation.

4 days, 2 total business days, but 2 business days is more than enough time for any respectable business to at least give you a tracking number. I assumed shipping would take a while from China to the US, but this has nothing to do with shipping, this has to do with them physically getting it to the shipper which they're apparently not very good at. That or they're not good at communicating, because they said they'd send me my tracking number as soon as they had one for me. I know a lot of people on FC like to bend over and make excuses for manufacturers/companies but I am not one of those people.

Tough customer! I usually allow a day or 2 for order processing.

Paypal won't allow a complaint that quick. You have to wait 30 days, not 3.

Don't see anywhere that says you have to wait 30 days, I just see that it may take up to 30 days to process your refund.

I don't think I'm that tough. There are plenty of companies that would've had me a tracking number on the first business day because they would be happy to have my business and my money. I chose to give these guys my money over every other option (many for around the same price/quality) and expect them to treat me as good as those other companies would. They're not doing anything special and they're not doing anything better than other people. They're just doing it *slightly* cheaper, but not cheap enough for me to not care about shipping times when $37 is their cheapest option. Most companies work on Saturdays, so really this will be the 3rd business day with no tracking number. I don't think I'm being unreasonable.

Buyer requests refund. Seller has already processed order (maybe begun shipping who knows), so buyer has to file complaint.

Whenever I buy glass or rig stuff from China I see it this way. I'm getting things VERY cheaply. In exchange, I assume because it's an international transaction, it's going to be slow, communication problems, etc. Cheap does not come free. There is a cost.

There are lots of US based e-nail sellers that specialize in communication and customer service. And as we know, that service and ease-of-communication comes with a higher price tag on it.

The trick for me in these transactions is to not forget what the cost of CHEAP is. Hassles. I love my Gimido setup, but if the PID dies I'll be pissed at the return shipping costs. But that was my decision, I could have gone with an Auber or Errlectric.

Not trying to be argumentative. I'm not fan of some of the vape games I see sellers play. You mention you could have a local e-nail in your hands today. How much is the markup over going China?

Their shipping policies are listed here, shipping out speed also depends how whether you paid extra for factory pickup or not. Once it's shipped it's about 3-4 days max since they use a courier. I'd expect any respectable business to ship out within the time frame they promise, if they can ship it faster it's a nice bonus.

I paid 37 dollars for shipping which was the only option. I'd like to think that includes whatever options you're talking about. Also that wasn't the site that I ordered from and their shipping policies were not listed on it. I ordered from their old site that shouldn't even exist anymore. http://gimido.bigcartel.com/ But looking on their new site it does seem that I got the DHL express shipping that should be picked up from their factory.

@syrupy it would be about ~50 more for the same parts put together locally.

Yeah, their shipping is steep. I'm scared to even look if I need warranty I'll have to pay shipping both ways. /faceplam

The factory pickup he's referring to is a good point too. These guys don't have a closet full of equipment to sell. They're placing orders to the factory. All these layers can cause delays, and pretty much prevent a seller from pinning down shipping.

I know lack of tracking and false tracking numbers are a huge beef with FCers. Maybe because it's cheap china I overlook it. The last two years when I get a tracking number from a US seller on ebay, the item arrives before the tracking shows online.

For only 50 more, I would probably follow you and cancel and buy local. My savings was closer to 100 but I had to assemble.

Still digging my $222.00(shipping included) Auber RDK-200.
They are based in Georgia, so no returning to China if there is a problem. I tend to leave it on for several hours at a time without issue.

Works as good as the other e-nails I've used.
