If you feel comfortable you can remove the internals (although not sure if water would even get in there from the oven-again mine was submerged in water):

Make sure to be very gentle with the 4 screw holes they easily crack.

I agree, a splash in the top is unlikely to get in too deep (unlike flat out drowning it.....). You should not need to open it up.

To be very clear, the four screws above are the ones in the bottom (holding the works in the tube) not the four holding the oven in you see from the top.

would something like this work as a portable charger for the solo?

Most likely, but then so does this (the three 18650 battery pack in front of my 'Solo war bag':

Hey now,
I bought the 2nd Generation of that charger but it was not sold with the tips.
At the time, i didn't realize how unique the arizer tip (yellow) was and is. Hopefully one of the tips fits into the solo. Nonetheless, with 20,000 mah, fully charged, it can replenish my iphone 10 times or my ipad 4times. Lots of reserve power, worth the money...i paid $60 less when i linked off iankerdotcom to amazon

Guilty as charged. It takes soldering. You can buy the same sort of battery holder with wire leads so you could make up a pack with 2 crimp connectors (or even wire nuts) and a couple of adapters (screwdriver only build).

Somebody really should make this up......that's a hint.....

Yes, you want EIAJ-02. Usually listed as "4.0 X 1.7mm" or similar. The big problem is Arizer uses it outside it's normal voltage range (12 VDC not 3.15 to 6.3) so it's often not offered for this application. There's also a length limit, although that's not been a problem on all the EIAJ-02s I've tried. At least twice generic '4.0 X 1.7 have come up short for me.

Pipes should be able to sell you an adapter from the much more common 5.5 X 2.1mm.

They look similar to adapters that have worked with Solo in the past, but only one way to know for sure.

Given free shipping, it's only a dollar or two to find out....... I ordered a couple to see. In a month or so, we may know more?

Thanks for the links.

The first link with the short jumper cord is not good. I ordered a bunch and they don't hold up very well. As for the second link, as OF states, it looks very much like the adapters that ran dry from the older sources mentioned earlier in the thread. Should be fine.
I do still have 12 volt supplies as well as adapters and car chargers. (the same type as in your link as well as home made 90 degree ones) If interested shoot me a PM and we'll get you set up.

Great news, guys. Pipes is the go to guy here I think. Great service and support over several years now, if you need this sort of stuff, contact the man.......

charged one of my solos for 18 hours by accident

can one long overcharge screw the battery up?

I have a feeling one time wont effect the battery life too much but im no pro

Wutcha think

Nope, no serious damage. The charger shuts down at a safe level. Battery life is not effected after the charge light goes solid (the exception being the very first charge, where 'overcharging' can be a benefit in balancing (or at least improving the match) on the two cells.

Not to worry, enjoy the Solo. Time to discharge......

Me thinks extremelou needs to come back. Youre battery will be fine as long as you dont make 18hrs charges your routine.

No, I haven't seen it, I'll look for it next dispensary run. Thanks.

Yeah, it's a good tool. Even a great one for some. IMO vaping a kilogram of bud is a realistic goal. 1000 charge cycles on the battery, six sessions each, 1/6 of a gram per bowl? A powerful tool for good and right. No home is complete without one.

And a backup.

I just thought that I'd chime in and report that my first Solo lasted just under a year before dying. My battery wouldn't take charge, regardless of a few attempts at resetting it. It worked well for the time that I had it, I just assumed that it would last longer. I ordered a new one as soon as I knew it was finished, we'll see how long this beautiful silver device lives.
