Discontinued Elevape SV

I had issues with my esv so I sent it in and this how my coil was positioned by the factory. I have 3 screens in my oven, 1 chamber lid screen and no mouthpiece screen. I prime my draws for 3-5 seconds or not at all depending on strain and temp setting. Currently I have Connie Chung and its very dense with a really nice cure on it. With this strain at 350° and a fluffier grind I blow massive lung busting
COEFmqw.jpg
clouds, no prime needed. I start my draw at medium slow and increase it right at the end to avoid dark spots. With my coil this low its very hard to combust but it had happened at 375° fresh oven slow draw...silly thot.

I have been playing around with my esv and am impressed. Now that I played with the stock, straight out of the box settings, how do I get the big clouds everyone is talking about? Do I have to change the coil placement, use the highest heat settings, or simple tweeks?

I am going to read the entire thread to get a good background on this device

Edit: I have been accustomed to 'sipping' vaporizers because of the limited heat source. With the Elevape, the harder you pull, the bigger the clouds. The Abv is a light brown. Any tips on the chamber door. I am purchasing the stirring lid. But I have a hard time getting it on/off. I need to jam it in for the door to seal. Any suggestions? I'm on page 9 of the thread.

O.k. Here are a few of my "findings" which I hope my be of use.
First, the unit does take a bit of a learning curve...and I am still on it. However, watching the various reviews and experimenting way too much, there is no question that a fine grind is a key to clouds, if that is what you want.

Second, because you probably have experimented quite a bit to get to where you are with it, your unit is no doubt a bit dirty. A clean unit is the one that will give you those clouds, again, if that is what you want. I did Dr Vapes' bottle cap mod. The suggestion to make two and keep a clean one is spot on.

Third, definitely stir the bowl. However, make sure the lid is put on tight, that is set all the way in.

Fourth, if you have trouble with a loose mouthpiece, try it without the screen. On my unit that little bit of thickness was all it took to get a much better fit. The screen really isn't needed, imho.

When the battery is low, my unit does not seem to work quite a well as when it is full. 25% ..... I am checking that.

Great little unit. Fun to fiddle and learn about it. Not for the newbie, by any means...Flowermate for them !

I have been using my sc 3 piece for my mighty and Minivap and works great. I'll try my space case 2 piece for a finer grind. I should buy a mflb finishing grinder for my mflb and pax too. I just learned that I can pull as hard as I want. This is a rare quality for most vaporizers out there. I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but always overlooked heat on demand (I.e. ff, Herbie) and absolutely love it. Can't wait til I get stirring lid. I am going back to vape dr. thread on the bottle cap method. I was never a DIY guy, but these modifications seem a lot easier than I imagined.

@mixchu69 can you compare the crafty/mighty with the esv... (like always: taste, clouds, efficency and so on)

i have the crafty and i am not very impressed of the taste of it... also i fell always rushed because of its conduction (know its also convection) so my herb doesnt get baked and tastes not good... also i find it not as efficient as my nano...

as far as i understood the esv has a little learning curve, whereas the crafty is not really hard to use...

thanks

Straigh from the box, no modifications, I get better taste with the ESV. The clouds are bigger on my mighty but I just got my esv and know there is a learning curve. I would say efficiency is with the esv. Like you said, i think convection is more efficient, you are not forced to finish bowl with esv. But I like big bowls and using larger amounts. I am more of a "have 2-3 sessions" everyday type of guy. I think esv is perfect for me between sessions. Mighty is used for my 10 minute session.

So I got a prompt answer back from VN in response to my 'why did I have to pay sales tax on the list price rather than sale price':

"All orders shipping within California are taxed."

Clearly while we're communicating, we're not yet on the same page. I sent back a note to the effect that it was the size of the tax, not the fact it exists, I'm asking about. Hopefully someone will actually read it this time rather than rushing to the 'canned answer'.

This time I asked 'how much tax should I pay for an under $200 purchase'. Maybe that will help?

If you have a chance maybe try the chat service instead or call. I found their chat service is really good.

According my conversation with Joe there is a model that can be flashed remotely, and one which needs to be sent to the manufacturer to be updated. This is a fundamental difference.

So, the unit that they are selling in VN is the one that can be flashed remotely or not? Need toknow before ordering, I'm in UK and don't want to have to send it overseas for a "simple" flash.

Here's an article explaining a situation similar to yours:

No idea. Perhaps someone who has received one can chime in. Although people have mentioned a European distributor should you need service.

Hello good folks.
While waiting for my ESV, i was wondering if i could use galvanized wing nut instead of stirring lid, would there be any health concerns? (according to ipuffusa website, they don't ship to Poland, i guess i will have to ask Joe via email).

Has anyone measured coil resistance? I used to make my own micro coils for e-cigs with great success and I am thinking, is it possible to make your own coil for ESV?

Got one of my friends to jump on the sale over the weekend as well. Still can't get my retainer ring out (I am fairly certain it is impossible, I got a unit where it's like totally anodonized in there or something, so I'll have to send to ipuffusa eventually), but I've got the coil way low and a second screen crammed in the other's concavity. Getting really strong nice low temp hits at 355-370-385, gonna keep raising them and spreading the distance the more I experiment. Already higher from my precious settings with this set up.

And bottle cap screen is aces, thanks @Vape Dr. ! Going to figure out a way to get the stirrer in there too, but haven't gotten to that part of re testing yet. I was thinking about a wingnut or something, but maybe steel wire would work? Just make a wire wingnut for stirring and cram it in the hole?

Eventually I think they should come out with a lid that has a built in better stirrer and no mesh screen needed, just little holes that can be poked clear, and all one piece.

So 3 screens @thotfukr ? Interesting, at the end of our day with the Elevape where I got my friend to buy one, he drew too slow and combusted. Im always wary of trusting others for this reason, and why yes its worth mastering before taking into a risky situation. But when you do master its sealthiness is unmatched.
(btw, thot? As in "that ho over there" ? Is that really what it stands for? I kind of hate it, purely bc it doesn't make sense to me, grammatically it is complete nonsense when used in a sentence, and how is it any easier than just writing ho?! lol)

This thread is blowing up finally, people can be such cheap bastards can't they? lol Although I wish I had gotten it that cheap, it was definitely worth the $260 I paid. Love the varied feedback, but hope this doesn't become like the Arizer or Firefly threads and get too huge too quick, otherwise I won't be able to keep up...

Thanks, while similar I don't think it's the same. The law says the retailer is liable for the sales tax on the sale price. Not the customer. He can, however, back charge the customer if this is agreed to ahead of time (not actually the case here, the price was added after the last step, but I'm not questioning that part). It's the amount I question.

In this case, unlike the above example, the real price was reduced. EV didn't pay part of it, and me the rest. NV sold me a vape for $175, they have to pay the state 9% or so (varies with locality) of that amount, not the original price, the sale price.

Everything I was able to find out says it was a overcharge and the dealer can refund it to me or send it to the state but cannot keep it (as they are set up to do otherwise?). Bottom line is my Visa was charged $31.41 tax on a $174.50 purchase which doesn't fit the tax tables.

Not that $15 is a deal breaker, it's just not right.

Thanks again or the link.

I was one of the cheap bastards. Hehe. This wasn't a vaporizer that I would have purchased at full price. After using it, I understand why it is priced that high and would pay full price (After trying it out). if vapornation never had the sale, I would have never purchased it. Thanks Stananton for sharing the vapornation sale with the FC community.

First, part of my learning curve was to start to not let the light control me. When I first started, I pulled while the red light was red and a second after it stopped and then I stopped. Sometimes it felt and tasted like a great hit and at other times, nothing.

For me, this now works: I can get the medium clouds and good taste I want if I let the red light go out and just let up a bit and then hit a bit harder for up to a full second light. It is sort of like puffing on a pipe and it gives me , say, 12 seconds instead of 8 or even up to 17 seconds if I need it. The material stays at the right temperature and vapes! You can tell when there is that cool feeling in the back of the throat that the thing is clouding up a bit and then you stop hitting it. Easy, but took me a while. I hope this helps others skip a day or three of testing...fun as that was!!!!!

So, IMHO, the best way to use the EVS is to use the light, not let the light use you! Let it cut off and then just keep going some more (letting up just a bit) as needed.

Second, if you have not had the pleasure of being able to have your unit sit next to you and not have to worry about an automatic cut off, you cannot imagine how great it is. You can just pick it up and use it and return to what you are doing. Fantastic and adds to the unit's efficiency.

The stirring cap will make it even better.

Teaming,

Gardenerjeff

Question: How many pulls do you get per battery charge? Is it best to use it unplugged and then recharge? Any suggestions Joe?

I don't think I consider 355 low, but it does produce some huge clouds depending on the strain. Yes, 3 screens. I feel I get better extraction. I've never heard thot defined in that manner and my name is just some hood rat shit, I really don't expect it to make much sense to you. I'm really not a huge fan of sharing this vape, but I keep setting 1 pretty low in case I am in a position were I'm obligated to share or I just want to show off.

Yeah 355 is a high low on this vape, I was using level 3-8-13 originally for a while until I changed my coil and warped my lower screen and added a second. Now that ive got my coil low and my screens useable, its hitting very low, true to temp, so ive got more flexibility if im consistant. I'm trying to decide what temps I should go with now, maybe 350-380-410 even, but I have to ease up to 400, I just think variation in temps would be the most useful. We'll see what I end up with, Im going to try to keep it as my personal vape for now to baby it. But I know what you mean about showing it off so we'll see how that goes as well... Ive also been trying to conserve, hopefully even cut back a bit, and the Elevape will be my best bet with its power and efficiency.

Btw @Gardenerjeff it sounds like your describing the primer puff method? The first puff is anywhere from 1 to 5 sec, and the next is a full 8, and clouds could be huge. I agree the light is your guide, but as you go you can develop a sense for it yourself (and then hold the Elevape in any way to hit it, or whip it like the Doc)

Battery life is about 80 puffs average we've been estimating, try not to let it die. You can use it plugged in, it stops charging while you hit it, and then gets back to charging Good software for the battery longevity. Even after really long period of unuse, it was at 70% for me. Just can be less airflow with usb plugged, so be mindful of that when drawing

It sounds like people are starting to customize their esv experience with coil placement as well as coil angles now. While the software can provide more temperature options, it seems like the real magic is in customizing the coil? Alas, mine is gone but before I sent it off I found a jeweler's screwdriver and grabbed the coil off of it, since when I mentioned it would be unprotected in transit Joe said it would be disposed of anyways.

During my troubleshooting session with him, I got to see the coil glow. I can see how the thing comes to vape temps instantaneously. That coil really lights up red, and it really made me want to try my esv out! I can tell that sucker is fragile too, hard to see with these old eyes to work on, and easy to screw up.

Other thoughts from the bitchy guy that hasn't gotten to try his esv out yet lol.

I wonder if the stir lid is worth it, as it takes a bit away from bowl volume(?), and if you just load that same 'bit' less with the regular lid you wouldn't have to stir (room for a shake or two).

I like the magnet feature. I could tell it's a pain in Joe's rear atm, but I hope he just makes them a bit weaker or maybe uses just one instead of two but keeps it. It seems to me that the issue is with the lid, the part that the magnet is attracted to is recessed just enough for the super-strong magnet to catch and be pulled from where it's glued to the body of the esv. This is why the lid can be a bear to remove initially, at least with some esv's. When I finally got mine off the magnets came with it and one of them went flying.

These are kinks to be ironed out, like the initial battery charge of some units. When they are the esv will be a force to be reckoned with, I can already tell and I haven't even used mine yet. I think it's gonna be a hit once a couple of things are ironed out, that it's a real sleeper and I feel fortunate to try one at this price.

Even if there was a snafu or two in my case

That's what I was asked for, which is a bit suspicious. I never had to do this before.
Probably due to your location. Personally I wouldn't want my ID and credit card floating around some random office.

Stananton, the man who introduced me to the esv. Where do you live? I saw something similar on the vapexhale website, where they won't send a unit unless it matches the address on the credit card. They won't ship to another location (if it doesn't match your CCs address). But I would ask why they want all that informatio.
