Quick question, is it recommended to use a screen on top of the heater?

I think the overwhelming majority of us don't, not that you should not try it. In fact, just the opposite, by all means try it (and any other reasonable technique) to find what suits you best.

While I think most of us that tried it abandoned the idea, I recommend you try? That was what you asked?

I do it. I read something about more airflow this way. I tried it but honestly, I have no idea if it's improved or not. On the other hand, I don't notice a disadvantage. And, as I am too lazy to get it back out, it has stayed in it.

Like OF said, try it out and let us hear your findings. What I understand of alot of mods, it's all about personal preferences.

It's real.

Well I guess I should've stated my question as an question that could've been more easily answered. Does adding an additional screen on top of the heater improve the browning of the herb in the stem and make it more thorough?

What kind of screen do you use?

I have no idea. But I don't think it's gonna help much. A screen in the stem IMO helps to evenly brown the herbs. But I only pack it half full, not even that. The more I fill it, the less evenly browned it gets. Just logica..

No idea, not ultra fine but not coarse either. With my order at Vaposhop I just asked for fitting screens, got Flames screens that I had to dome to fit.

I find that the Air's load is so small that even browning has never been an issue for me. It has always been very even. This may be related to how coarse or fine the grind is?

Even when you pack the stem full? Without stirring or anything? Then I need your technique :D how do you 'press' it, like a gentle pinky touch?

Ordered mine last night. $160 + a free battery was to good to pass up. Got screens and stem caps too. Going to see how much I like it before going all crazy getting vortex stems and glass adapters and all that stuff. Can not wait.

Where is this deal at if you don't mind me asking?

I have never had a problem of uneven browning with the Air. Never pack and never stir. I grind using a three piece Santa Cruz Shredder. Things in this regard have always been perfect with the Air.

No packing as in I gently fill full without a pressure pack.

I'll try it out with the short stock stem. Have put that stem away since I got the solo stock stems.

I got two stem caps with my AA, I did not order them as an extra.

Ok people, I've returned with pics of the aftermarket cases found at my local glass shop, for those interested - Here are pics of the small, medium and large. And to those wondering why I'm posting these pics or are interested in getting one, look back to my previous posts. First, a comparison photo with the AA to give you an idea:

Large size (updated pic - comfortably fits unit, 2 slim canisters, 2 stems, 2 caps, 1 MP):

Medium (fits unit, 2 stems):

Small (fits unit only):
20150209_103224.jpg

After getting all 3 cases, I have to say I really like the small, and of course the large. The small is great because its compact enough to put in your pocket and the AA feels very tight and secure inside it (shockproof of course). The medium is nice too, but as you can see the tubes are tightly fit and may run a risk of breaking if you smash the sides of the case against something hard. The large is the best all around case because of versatility, room for accessories, and safe placement of the glass tubes. I know there are nicer cases out there such as the smell-proof ones posted a while back, but for the price you can't beat it. Yeah buddy.. You live! :brow:

EDIT: On the medium case, I figured out how to place the stems more efficiently:

You can securely place the upper stem in the strap, and the lower stem will fit nicely in the pocket. And since the stems are right next to the 2 closing flaps, which are cushioned, I don't seen any possible danger to them. Now I can't decide which case I like better - I suppose I may need all 3 for different occasions.

I don't recall there being much 'chatter' here, perhaps one or two? I don't really see how you could do it if the rubber gasket is there (it prevents a point loading on the end of the threads/edge of the cap).

If you have two 'hairline cracks' in "exactly the same place on each side" I'm guessing they're not cracks but mold break lines? Do they line up with the flats/edges on the MP? Normally the failure on such parts from over tightening the cap would be to crack it radially around the top (break the top half off, leaving the threads intact).

Edit: Nevermind! Found my problem... Now before I order does anyone know if eds solo stems fit in the air?

What I've heard if you are from the U.S that would be when the Canadian price is converted over to U.S dollars. I don't know what that would come out to?

Gentle Friends,

Look what happens if you buy one of these:
http://www.dhgate.com/product/glass...rb-vaporizer/213068750.html#palceorder-1-null

And stick a 3/4 inch or so piece of 1/2 inch OD (3/8 ID) silicone tube in the bottom instead of the cheap oil 'skillet' that comes with it ........it fits wonderfully on our favorite new vape:
0UpeNOl.jpg

Not only is it a surprisingly effective little bubbler it's also 'spill proof'. Yep, you can put it in your pocket full to the mark and not get a wet shirt. In fact you need to remember to lay the whole thing on it's side (or hold it upside down) when you take it off or suction will pull water out.

Anyway, a bit crude (in terms of alignment of parts), but well made and effective (at least this one is). And the price is certainly attractive ($20 shipped). It's basically the same diameter and not quite as long as the Air itself (without stem).

For ten bucks more you can get it as a set with a cheap eGo battery (your choice of size) and nice zipper case as well. Anyway, after a day's testing and fiddling (two spills.....) I recommend it if you're at all inclined to such stuff. Get 'em quick before they're all gone...

Thank you for this! Got mine in today, so small yet so useful. Fits easily and sturdy with the help of just under an inch of high temp silicone. I didn't think it would be as stable, that's a pleasant surprise. Makes the last two levels a breeze now! Thanks again @OF

Yer welcome. Another happy camper, cool. Neat little bubbler, isn't it? IMO it 'fits' the Air better than PNWT and the bigger guys do. Fun to roll over and over and trip on the no spill aspect as well.

Thanks for passing the good word, hopefully more of our fellows will get on board.....
