Buying New Portable Vaporizer - Would Love Advice & Opinions

Howdy Folks! I have been hesitating to post because I don't want to be 'that guy' who asks for advice on choosing a new unit... but here I am! Indecisive as ever and reaching out for your advice and opinions. I have tried reading a lot of posts (hours of reading) but as soon as I think I make up my mind, I read a post that brings back my hesitations.

For starters, I have previously owned a Davinci - I believe it was the first generation (bought in Fall 2012) so I dealt with the short battery life issue as well as some small annoyances such as the straws fraying and falling apart, and the oil cans didn't work well. I also was not a big fan of stirring the material every couple draws. That being said, I did my homework before purchasing and I know I made the right decision at the time - I really loved the unit! It was really my first time owning a vaporizer and I had only vaped a handful of times prior (Volcano and Da Buddha - loved both of these as well). For me, the stealth was a big factor. I also really appreciated temp control. I am a man of science and love to be able to experiment with different factors. I thought the taste was superb. Sure, it tapered off after the first few hits, but I expected that and dealt accordingly. It was easy to introduce to friends during sessions and truly was a good unit. Unfortunately I had to get rid of it...

For my new unit, I am not too interested in spending over $150. I'd love to splurge, but now is not the time. Stealth again is a bit of a deciding factor (why I'm choosing portable). Unfortunately I cannot be careful enough in the next 2-3 months - for medical reasons I am back at my parents house and, as implied, getting caught is not an option! If caught, I expect my unit and 'meds' to be thrown out and, sadly, there is potential for involvement with the men in blue (yikes!). Anywhoser, I want to invite Mary on my healing process and feel I can get by if I'm smart about it.

I'm a bit of a connoisseur and truly enjoy analyzing and taking in my whole experience - so taste is important. Again, I was pleased with the taste of Davinci so maybe that speaks of my lack of experience with better vapes(?) I am not sure how much stealth of the unit will really be a factor because I need to hide the unit anyways - I don't really intend on driving around with it. The Davinci was nice to take on walks. I plan on buying a 'smell proof' stash bag so that should help, but if some units are less smelly and clunky that is good.

Currently I found a Davinci listed for about $105, a Solo for $125, and Pinnacle Pro for $135. I also was looking at the Launch Box but can't find anything lower that $120 which I think is over-priced - I may try to make my own if the consensus is MFLB. I looked at Crafty, Mighty, Firefly, and they're out of my price range. I don't dig the Pax, so please don't recommend that.

I was tempted to buy a Davinci because of my good experience and I hear the new model has a better battery (score!). I did notice the unit could be a bit smelly, but it is manageable. I almost pulled the trigger on Solo because it's comething new, the glass seems like a good way to preserve taste and I the preset temp ranges seem pretty good. I am going to borrow my friends MFLB next week to give it a good trial, but again, I'm not impressed with price. I do like the ability to take a few draws and leave the unit. I have a low tolerance now and would like to conserve material. My tolerance does skyrocket quickly so I guess I'm not entirely opposed to a unit with bit larger bowl than Davinci. Really was interested in Ascent as well because of my experience with Davinci, but from my research people seem to say it works best fully loaded and that it actually gets messy sort of quickly - that's a bit of a turn-off!

I also have an ego-c battery and Gentlemans oil cart which I enjoyed. I don't plan on using oil - just loose leaf. Kind of wish there was a 510 attachment that works well for vaping loose leaf, but consemsus seems to be no..

Anyways, hope I gave some good info and would be more than happy to provide more if it helps make decisions.

If you are at risk of getting arrested it may not be worth it depending on where you live. All vaporizers will put out a smell. Your product that your vaping has a strong smell. First off make sure you have a container for your meds that doesn't smell. I have a nice small wooden stash box with no smell. I keep my freshly ground herb in that. I have a CVault for my bulk of my meds.

The Indica vaporizer that I have smells the least of all the portables that I own. If you shut the lid there is no smell. It does cost around $200, so it's over your price range. It can be used while charging is a plus. The black Noir is the newest version, a very beautiful vaporizer. It's larger than a Zippo lighter, but it's shaped like one. The Indica has wonderful flavor and has a spacer to taylor your load.

The Solo is my fav portable but it's not that stealth, it's about the size of a can of Red Bull. It smells more than my Indica. The Solo would be in your price range and it's a well built portable that has proven over time it's a winner. If you are a fan of vapor flavor the Solo is where it's at. It has a 2 yr warranty.

The MFLB may be what your looking for. I personally didn't like having to insert the battery every time I took a draw, but that's me. The Launch Box doesn't have the flavor that the Solo gives out.

I don't own a Flowermate, but you could check out that thread. It would be in your price range. You wouldn't get the flavor that you would with the Solo.

I found an Arizer Air available for 182 - a bit out of my intended range, but would anyone say that it is significantly better than the Solo? (Better as far as 'stealth', low smell, vapor production/quality, battery life) Again, I'm trying to read the existing forums as much as possible, but there is so much extraneous information to sift through and I'd like to place an sooner than later. The Air forum mentions getting into contact with Randy at Puffitup for pricematching - how does one go about this? Submitting a form on the website? Or phone call?

hoptimum- I will look more into the lotus, thank you for the suggestion.

CarolKing- I think the risk for involvement with law enforcement is very low, just mentioned it to bring into context that I'm interested in a unit which will help in the stealth arena.

I'm very interested in the Solo, seems like very positive reviews and it has been around a long time. Have you tried the Davinci? Could you give input in the way of comparing the two?

The Indica does seem nice for reducing smell and the style makes it more inconspicuous, but I've found mixed reviews - many saying that it's 'average' for vapor and that the chamber requires more materila (.3-.4) for optimal functioning. Could you attest to that?

No the Indica doesn't require more material as it's shipped with spacers to fill the bowl when you use small loads. It's more conduction than the Solo and thus some people will say the taste is not as good, plus it's metal (vs glass in the Solo)

The Air has a single battery cell when the Solo has two, there's no way it can have a better battery life and performance. It's the smaller brother, more pocketable. It has fewer temp settings too IIRC.

The Indica has a very narrow vapor path, even for a pocket portable, so it's tougher to get bigger hits, vs. some other, more free flowing models. That doesn't mean you need to load more than with other models, in order to get the same amount of vapor. It's more about how much vapor you can get per hit than about total output.

If you liked the DaVinci I'd consider the Flowermate. Currently you can get one on sale at puffitup.com for $85. Hard to beat at that price, especially if Randy will back the warranty. I went from the DaVinci to the FM myself, and I'm satisfied with it for my portable needs. The design is similar to the DV, but battery time is much better and it's easier to clean/maintain. I would also say it's more discreet and easier to deal with than the Indica.

I had a flowermate. I don't think it's any more stealthy than the Solo which is my favorite portable. I've had the MFLB and if you can afford the Solo or the Air I would definitely go with that. What I've read about the Air is that the advantage of the air is stealth.
You might also check out the Daisy and Lily threads. They're butane vapes that are new- especially the Lily. Great reviews. I just ordered the Lily which is the mini version so more portable than the Daisy. If you'd consider a plug in you might check out the Underdog. There are a few models under $150. I leave mine plugged in all the time and often use it to burn scented essential oils. When others see it they identify it as a plug in for scenting the room
