Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

I've been watching this thread from a distance, and am assuming that the issues with inverting and odour have been completely resolved? Was it just a small amount of EVO's that was affected by the plasticky odour? This was the only thing turning me off the EVO, as I found it unbearable to use inverted. My Fakexhale continues to work inverted flawlessly, without a single whiff of burning plastic. OTOH, my vape temps are now consistently always under noon on the dial, while I was at 2-3:00 on the EVO.

I can detect a faint odor if it's inverted for a while (several minutes), but nothing strong. I only invert mine when I'm hitting it though, I don't leave it inverted on a Cloud Buddy or anything like that. So when mine is inverted, there's no heat drifting up since it's being hit at the time. So I have zero odor when using mine inverted.

Would be curious to hear what brand new customers have to say though. Supposedly VXL were going to take a little more time to ensure skin oils and the like are not present on the bamboo, causing an odor at high temps.

Curious about your EVO, when you say it had an unbearable smell, was it instantly like that as soon as it was inverted?

Negative, it took a bit of time to develop, and I swear I could taste it at times as well. I posted when it was a hot topic a while back, although I never smelled anything other than a burning plastic wire (which I think was just too close to the bamboo), and came out through the uneven seams. It just put me off of the EVO, and I enjoyed my Cloud more. Using a HT, it was a non-issue.

Since new customers haven't mentioned it, I assume it's been completely rectified, but it would be really nice for SM55 to confirm. The EVO I was using was the original IGG.

My unit, purchased August 2014, had serious odor issues when inverted. I could tatse it as well and it was super unpleasent. Coated my whole mouth. It was so bad that the unit could not be use inverted.

Hopefully my new unit will not have odor issues or the bamboo will not melt.

My experience as well, one time I literally almost puked...it was so damn gross. So you have kept that unit until now? I also feared the bamboo melting, but no issues.

I still have the unit although it is inoperable. It is supposed to be sent in to address the melted bamboo issue.

Are you dead set against inverting the unit? The cheapest hydratube is none of the above. The hydratubes are very nice, but cost a pretty penny. You can get many other options in glass for much less. The only caveat is you have to use a whip adapter if you're using the VXNail, can't invert with that.
I've actually been using it inverted the whole time, I just felt like it was more official if I had a hydratube. When I use concentrates I use the dry tube, I'd rather not use it whip style since I bought this vape because of its all glass air path.

I got mine just a few weeks back. I have never used it any way but inverted and never noticed any plastic smell or taste.

My original Limited Edition Vectra EVO still functions perfectly 24/7. Never had a bad smell from it right side up or up side down that I didn't cause myself in testing/cleaning. My electronic outlet timer ran out of battery, then when I unplugged it my programming went away, so I'm actually power cycling my EVO myself for a change until I get a new darn battery . . .

What's does vectra mean ?
Vectra is a liquid crystal polymer that was used to create a limited # of units for the Beta Test Crew. It had a different texture and look from the regular material.

Not really a good pic, but a closeup of the Vectra . . .

I have asked this question in the bubblers thread also. Was just trying to decide what would be the best out of the GB-187, GB-187 S, or the FC-187. I want to be able to see the action fairly well and I like a larger volume can. I saw that if you get the GB-187 with the mobius logo that it is bigger than the one without the logo. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

When looking at the cloud evo, it seems like the perfect vape for me. Has anyone found a solution to making a special gong that will allow to use the evo without the hydratubes for oil? I know with flowers, you can always flip it. But with oils, I realize that won't work and the only solution is a silicone whip. I am wondering if glass blowers (joda pops in my mind) have ever tried to make a solution or am I asking for the impossible.

A friend of mine rigged something up with all glass adapters and tubes but it looked very cumbersome to me. He quickly moved on to hydratubes.

An inverted cloud buddy would be my first step.

Short of getting something custom made, I don't see how it could be easily done without a tower of adapters though:lol:

@mixchu69 here is an all glass solution I've used before. Follow the link in the quote below that says Cheap,high-quality bubbler to the pic of my piece with a Claisen and a cloud+. I've used the same setup with the Evo and vapexnail for oils. Works perfect and no silicone( I now have a glass stopper instead of the ball lol). Of course it all depends on your piece. My stemless works perfect for this. Bubblers not so much.
For those with no HT that want to use the concentrate accessory, you can always get a Claisen or use your cloudbuddy upside down. Here is one on a cloud+ but you get the idea;)
Cheap, high-quality bubbler??

I was using mine with my FC-187 and was pretty happy with it until my HydraHoneyComb arrived yesterday and I realized what I was missing!

That said, the FC-187 works pretty well IMO if you're on a budget.

Thanks for the answer. I think that is the one I'm going with. I would love a hydratube but the price is too much. I had a vaporblunt chandelier that worked well but it sadly broke.
