Way back in this thread, there was a similar discussion about how to remove the bottom screen. Someone posted a picture of a dental pick, and a link from which to buy it, that looked like the perfect tool for removing the screen. The pick, as I recall, was surprisingly cheap.

I did a quick search and found the link ($4 for the set):

After trying for two hours with a needle and a very small flat tip screwdriver I managed to get the bottom chamber screen out , switched it out with a replacement screen and wow , the air flow is much better and so is the vapor production. I held my old screen to the light , and like capcoho , most of the screen was clogged , only five holds were not lol great tip , good thing I bought some replacement screens when I got the fm , I scratched the old screen pretty bad trying to get it out.

If this screen is easy and safe to get out then this is quite a revelation as the airflow in both mine is definitely reduced. I would also like to see pictures if possible if anyone can post them. Am I also right in thinking you're replacing this screen with ss screens like most have done with the mouthpiece?

Lol yea I have to see pics before I attempt this because mine gives me great vapor, I'm just interested to see how dirty mine is.

Same observed here.. In the summer my gf used a lot of hash in the flowermate which made airflow almost zero.. I took it apart and pushed it from the bottom of the heater with a pin :).. Since then it vapes like a beast... she even started using bubbler .. which was near impossible with stock screens.. :).

Still having a lot of trouble getting the bottom screen off, any other ways without having to pick up that dental set?

The sliding caps can be taken off ( just be careful to not break it , but it can be taken off easily )then just unscrew the screws u see now the caps are off , then the inside can be pushed through, push it down first to remove the button pieces , then push the inside of the unit out, just becareful doing this or you might risk damage to your vape.

So I take it, there's no safe way to remove this bottom screen?

I think it's safe if you becareful doing it , but like taking anything apart , there are sometimes risks involved if your not careful and make a mistake .

I bet a safety pin with the tip curled into a small hook would work.

That is what I originally tried but no luck. The holes in the original screen are just so tiny and the safety pin not strong enough to get the screen to budge. Safety pin would work great is the stock screen is replaced a regular style screen.

This is what I used. I didn't even realize what it was until I just googled the model#.

So I opened up my FM. I got the the screen out from the bottom of the chamber. I went through the bottom.
I also discovered ABV under the whole chamber itself.

EDIT:
Performance is improved. It performs just like when I pulled her out of the box.

I replaced the bottom stock screen with a fine SS pipe Screen and very slightly domed it like I do in my SOLO/AIR stems. Its crammed in there but will be alot easier to get out for cleaning since its more malleable. Taking your FM apart for cleaning ABV underneath the chamber is very simple. You just have to be gentle. You dont even have to move anything other than the metal shell. A q-tip fits in the space underneath the chamber.

For me, The FM (I have a rebranded FM V) is the quintessential inexpensive basic quality EZ vape. Adding full temperature control is not a game changer for vapes in general, I agree. But it is a game changer for inexpensive basic quality EZ vapes.

Unless I am mistaken. :)

This friendly reply was intended for the esteemed Slow Draw McGraw... I have yet to master the "quote" techniques of this marvelous forum.

You're correct it is a game changer as far as FM is concerned. If you do a little poking around on the forum, you will see there are is a nice selection of inexpensive vapes existing/coming out this year. Check out the thread candidates section if you havent already. 2015 is going to be a great year for vaporizing! :D Stay lifted @JamesTiberiousKirk !
