Glad to hear it. I wonder if others could try this as well? In my case there is barely a difference in restriction. Im going to take it apart and try to fix it (might as well right?).
If you want to take it apart. Make sure you remove the pin on the back + you push up, cause otherwise the diamond will cut the screen in half.. :D..
One thing that i did to improve bottom airleak was to remove the bottom part ,and pull the chamber out so it can make a tighter fit to the silicone. since then i get no airleak when i put my finger on the plastic square.. be careful how you stir because if you push too much the chamber will travel a little back and it will unseal the space between plastic and silicon square... i guess they should work a way to make it more fixed to its position.

How did you get the pin out? I was just going to PM you asking lol, nice timing

EDIT: And yeah I actually messaged Ludo about the silicone gasket earlier today. Mine actually fell out when I was roughly cleaning with alcohol soaked cotton ball. I was able to get it back in but told Ludo they should use thicker gasket.

But I dont believe that is the problem (or maybe its a second air leak), I try to block the inlet hole in the oven to isolate the gasket being the issue. Blocking inlet doesnt fix the problem for me so the leak must be in the mouthpiece connection. Maybe i got a wonky one.

:) I don't have an exact technique but.. i think i bent mine just a fraction while trying to pull the upper part with a knife and it received some and and was really easy to pull out..
My second unit hasnt been open yet, but i imagine that i would open it the same way.. i guess

I think they used hulk glue on mine. If I decide to open mine guess I can dremel it off and replace with a screw. Will look ghetto though lol. Even asked pops with his old man strength and old man technique, no go. Thank you for the tip, good to know someone out there removed the pin

First I will have to retest it, to see if flavor improved after my through rubbing alcohol cleaning......wont be able to till friday; its going to be a long week

Have in mind that the pin is plastic (just cap is metal).. so it can be bent easily.Other think i can think of is peel a bit with a razor near the pin enough to push a needle under it.. but this will ruin it aesteticly a bit.

Dude you were spot on. The oven assembly needed to be pushed down so the gasket could well act as a gasket. Much better airflow. Still some coming in if I block the bottom but more resistance now so thats reassuring. I sent them a lengthy email describing the problem.

Oh yeah and through cleaning worked! I noticed the mouthpiece silicone had strong tobacco flavor so wanted a way to soak the bottom silicone. When I shoved a cotton ball drenched in alcohol into the oven it must have pushed it down and when I took the cotton ball out the gasket came out as well. Soaked that in alcohol. No more tobacco flavor!

Had to try a small test run. Great success

Now to just figure out how to make the mouthpiece and oven tube tigher like @KeroZen suggested. Because of moving parts and removability going to be a pain methinks

Hi everyone this is my first post but have been following some of the threads here for a month or so but is this vaporizer worth the wholesale price. It seems good for high temperatures which is what I would probably prefer since that's supposed to be closer to a smokers high, I have an atmos boss but still smoke now though but still like that high. And it's nice the chamber is bigger since I find the boss chamber a bit small since I need 3 loads to get a nice high. Also want big clouds. Also is the new mouthpiece confirmed

Was just about to do a video and I tried pressing down the mouthpiece and my bowl got pushed out. I wasnt using this often because it gave me light headdress and had poor flavor (out of all my other current vapes) but I really wanted a video before I passed it on.

I see why my mouthpiece was always so stuck when I inserted it. It got coated in some sticky oil within a week of use, didn't affect performance but that's not a good note along with the question of how oil got on the outside of the airpath tube.

Damn, I thought you were kidding... It didn't slice my screen in half, but it sure put a deep scratch down the middle of the screen! I can't believe they would actually let the tip of the "diamond" protrude into the case enough to do that! I hope they get rid of the fake diamond and just have something flat there... The fake diamond is just ugly.

The reason I went inside is the same as most others here, the silicone gasket around the lip of the oven came off the first time I cleaned it with a brush. That gasket needs to have a sidewall that hugs the lip of the oven so it won't come off. And to really fix the problem, they need to put some heat resistant padding above the oven to prevent it from sliding up into the unit.

Yeah you have to push the screen up not down. I also opened mine because I still couldn't get the smell to leave. It seemed it picked up rubbing alcohol smell on top of the tobacco flavor. I belive I found the culprit. There is a fabric/sponge like insulation material around the oven. I belive this absorbed tobacco and later alcohol. Unfortunately when taking off this material, my heater must have become damaged. It's a plastic with thin wires inside. It is getting voltage but the circuit is not complete in the heater. I don't think this would have been a problem if it were not tested with tobacco. I have told them so hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Looks like it's the end of my herbstick adventure, I loved many things on the herbstick. Form factor is sick, it fit in my pocket all day without even noticing it. Performance was good, vapor was large and surprisingly cool. Efficiency did not seem very good but this is probably related to the design, I only have one other mainly conduction vaporizer, I hear many other conduction vapes like the PAX are not efficient so not really a flaw when you look at the competition. But the flavor drove me :mental::bang::bang:, so much potential ruined. Luckily it doesnt appear to be a common problem.

I have sadly to inform you that my screen failed after it was scratced.. Readings were fading away each day till it finally died.. anyway at least vibration died with it too :D

It's CNY, the whole country is frozen for now.

Meanwhile I kept using my two samples. The software updates they did are more than welcome, as this damn buzzer is so loud on the first one that it attracts the attention of the entire room in social situations. And it keeps buzzing whenever you restart a cycle or change the temp even only 5 degrees. At some point people start to wonder why I'm receiving so many text messages and ask me if there's something wrong...

I'll issue my final review soon. It's positive overall, but it's only a "medium to good" vape. Some good aspects and some not so good.

I'm torn between this and the Xmax V2. Could anyone give any insight? I like the ability to use oils and wax in the Xmax but for some reason the HD appeals to me. I think it's the form factor. This would be the vape I share with around 2 other people at a time.

Xmax V2 both for Concentrate and weed while Herbstick Deluxe only for weed, with big oven size you can share it with friends on Parties.Battery last longer than Xmax v2 no doubt.
Xmax V2 is penstyle ,this one is box form.both stealthy
the digital control feature and smart feature for Deluxe may be a plus point consdering easy to use and save your materials when you forgot to turn it off after 1min use.
Price point,Xmax v2 is cheaper but you can find Deluxe with 75$ by RuffHouse Studios, through it's old version.
CigGo official website is selling it for 189$ free shipping with update features(vibrate/diamond/screen turn on and off) ,somebody on Reddit reviewed it and said puffitup.com maybe gonna distribute it with new features.
Wait and see!

Alright here's my final review:

Pros
+ Small size
+ Light weight
+ Stealthy looking
+ USB charging (charge is relatively fast)
+ Use while charging
+ OLED screen (but some flickering and/or display quirks)
+ Variable temperature (only 5°C increments though)
+ Precise battery voltage display (when powering and when charging)
+ Heats relatively fast
+ Fair vapor production (especially at high temps)
+ Multicolor indicator LED (can now be deactivated)
+ Buzzer function (can now be deactivated)
+ Throttle-back mechanism after 1min without moving the device
+ Relatively safe vapor path

Cons
- Relatively poor taste (I don't know if it's the all metal vapor path?)
- Short battery life (it's the drawback when you have a single cell)
- Very fragile (if you drop the device it will likely be over*, screen is fragile too)
- Mouthpiece can get stuck due to resin buildup (like Pax1?)
- Mouthpiece is a zinc alloy (at least for me it gives an oxydation-like taste when my tongue touches it)
- Buzzer is too loud (but you can deactivate it)
- Throttle-back time-out timer period is too long (1 minute lets your load cook way too much)
- Battery not removable or easily serviceable
- Minute gap between the telescoping metal tubes dilutes the vapor a bit by letting fresh air enter
- Hoven a tad too large, need to use a spacer if not tamping the load (not provided)

* : last week I droped my first sample by accident, it made the bottom part move a bit. I put it back in place but afterwards it took me some time to realize that the vapor became very wispy. I used it several times and wasn't satisfyed by the vapor density at all, and I was surprised because I didn't remember that or I would have noticed it I think... It turns out that something moved, like if the metal tube wasn't aligned with the bowl anymore, but I couldn't access it because the screen was stuck in the bowl due to the resin buildup. I tried to poke the screen from the mouthpiece side but it made the entire bottom come out... Long story short: don't drop it! When I tried my second sample afterwards I instantly got way denser vapor, like I remembered in the first place.

Great review!

I'm reckoning on picking up a spare vape soon, have been using the FM5.0 with satisfactory results the past 6 months, but would like higher versatility on the temperature variability these days...
Would you recommend this over the soon to be released V5 Pro (or any other alternatives)?

Cheers

I use my FM5 daily, whereas I use the HD mostly for special occasions, but today I did one session with it for instance. It's great if you really need to conceal the device (ex: going to a place with strict security) but at the same time, the FM5 looks so much like a hard drive or a mp3 player that I've brought it to night clubs and gigs several times: I put it in my gf's purse and they don't even ask what it is.

Not so long ago I brought the HD when visiting a friend, but the battery only allows for a few sessions before needing a recharge so it died while we were watching a TV show. Thanksfully my friend had a USB charger but you need to let the device get some charge before using it while charging (it's not a pass-through) so we weren't able to finish the bowl... and the FM5 was flat too, bad luck, shit happens right? It's annoying to be dependant on those bloody batteries at times, isn't it? :)

It's too soon to compare to the FM5-Pro but personnally I already prefer the FM5 to the HD as it's more solid, has excellent battery life, glass mouthpiece+ceramic bowl... and I find the HD taste inferior to the FM5 taste (which is really not brilliant in the first place!) Now you have to take that with a grain of salt, taste is so subjective, ask any other FC member the question and you'll get a different answer!

Well, that has me more than convinced, thanks!

I do enjoy the FM's taste, much more than my previous MFLB (now very much redundant), mostly thanks to a cheap FBomb glass piece used in conjunction with it. Stealth is also outstanding (I pimped mine out with OEM SSD stickers for effect).

The urge to tear into the thing will arise again soon (mostly due to tolerance breaks), this I know to be inevitable. There must be a simple way to take full control of the PWM (arduino micro perhaps, maybe SSR). Maybe even redirect the air inflow. My frugality towards collecting new vapes is over-encumbering!

Cheers

Mine arrived today and first impression is not too bad. I didn't find the draw restriction too tight and everything else seemed as described previously here. The only real frustration is the air entering the draw and reducing the thickness of the vapor. It is a quite annoying defect and I don't think anyone's came up with a fix for it yet. I can't see the two interlocking tubes ever achieving a decent seal. I think it would be really great vape with a sealed air path right to the mouthpiece. I say drop the pop up mouthpiece and go for one in a permanent position. Also agree that a cage to reduce load size would help.

@ominosity : on my second sample I didn't enlarge the mouthpiece hole, I just removed the internal silicone part (actually my Bauway contact removed it for me before shipping) and the draw is ok. I'm not sure it's worth the hassle to drill it if you get rid of the silicone piece.

I like that the device can produce good cloudage even with the vapor dilution problem but I'm a bit disappointed by the taste. I'm still trying to understand why it's the case but I'm leaning towards the all-metal vapor path and the fact I'm sensitive to metals in general.

For the telescoping "gap" someone used a piece of silicone tubing earlier in the thread IIRC. The other day I managed to remove the spring with a hook making more room to implement a leak-fix of some kind, even if as you said it could mean having a permanently opened mouthpiece (that would lower the stealth aspect a bit during transport) I'm still undecided about what that fix will be in practice, if anyone has a clever idea I'm open!

I've run a couple more bowls through it and had much better results. I packed a bit harder than I normally would and got much better / thicker vapour production so technique definitely plays a part. Also I'm thinking, as the Vapor condenses on the tubes it will probably improve the seal a bit. Im liking this vape more each time I use it.

It's yours with stealthy mode or still vibrate can't turn off beta?
