I was surprised to find that most of the material had fallen out into the base. Do I need to have a 2nd screen to make a hamburger of screens.
If you lightly tamp down your load with your pinky finger and then insert it upside down (turn the solo upside down and mate with the stem with bowl pointing up) you will find that the load will stay put pretty well. The second screen isn't really necessary IMO. Remove the spent stem the same way and you should fine that it remains fairly intact in the glass stem.

Hello Solo enthusiasts !
Well, I got the Arizer Air and love it, leaving me with a 'spare' Solo in the lineup....

....so I loaned it to my good friend who has Emphysema and needs the relief of cannabis vapor.
Finally got him to vape after years of begging.

So here's Mike using his new Solo

..thanks for letting me share.......

Hello everyone!

Been checking out this site for a month now, reading as much as i can to get some good info of how to use it the best. Let me first thank all and everyone of you for helping me ALOT with improving my skills and knowledge.

Started with a Vapman (love it!) as my first a month ago. Last week I got an Air (by accident) and today I got my Solo!

My problem now is: I have 2 bent stock stems wich doesn't fit coz i don't have an o-ring ( not that big of a deal, use them for my Air from now on). I only ordered an extra bent stem, so now i'm left with one straight stock stem for the Solo... No replacement as it breaks...

I live in Belgium and i would love to get a stem from Ed's, but his site doesn't ship to Belgium...

Anyone knows a solution that's not to expensive (shipping costs i mean)?

Bless.

Check out vapefiend.co.uk. They sell eds stems. Little more price-wise than in the States but they treat their customers right.

It appears you can only pay with paypal or creditcard. I can only pay by transfer or Bancontact... I don't buy much online.

Anywhere else where I can pay with my methods?

You don't need a o-ring to use the stems. Have you tried heating up your unit before inserting the stem? Just a suggestion. The stems may indeed be off size.

Ain't gonna happen, don't want to go through any effort :p.
I read something about his european connection, vaporiseurs.net or something. Haven't gone all the way to payment method but let's hope!

@McSheamus
Can you get your hands on a pre-paid credit card??

I have never ever even heard about that... In Belgium it's not very much used I think..

Grape Ape and it is great in the Solo. Also enjoying the Solo, Grape Ape and Bill Maher tonight.

cheap 12V 1A charger from ebay and suitable end that fits the solo. all together about or even under 10 bucks.
(there are descriptions and photos in earlier pages what socket exactly will fit the solo, i don't remember)

Yes the Solo stems do fall out if you turn your Solo upside down. The wobbly stem is what help produce the large flavorful vapor clouds the Solo is famous for. There are times when a stem is off by dimensions and doesn't fit properly. That happens on an occasion.

When taking a draw you can rock the stem or turn it around and the vapor clouds keep on coming.

Some folks prefer to use the o-rings and some not, it keeps the stem in a tighter position.

When I use my Solo I put my index finger on top of the stem, just out of habit, it holds it in place.

There are many accessories that the Solo can mate with, I've seen some awesome pictures of set ups here. This unit is versatile and you can use it many different ways.

Best of all the Solo medicates soooooooooo well. A great way to fuckcombustion.

EDIT
The Vortex stem stays tighter in the Solo and produces milky clouds too! I love the Vortex stem @poonman thanks for steering me in the right direction. with the extended air oath I can go up to heat level 5 and it isn't that hot.

I'll give it a shot anyways than. I've read it before also but I wouldn't think it's THAT wobbly. But if it gives even bigger clouds than with the straight stock stem fitting in real steady, i have to try it out later.

Will keep your trick in mind of putting my finger on it. With my vapman I already do this to not let it cool down so quick.

As for the setups, i've been rolling them for 5years, barely smoked bongs or pipes coz I'm mostly smoking outside for a couple of reasons. So i was never very into all that stuff, and I think I'm gonna keep it simple and just vape as it is ;)

It gets me where i need to be with MUCH less than smoking. My vapman is still the most efficient (0.05g in the morning and i'm pretty lifted).

I followed your tip also and not smoke at all for a couple weeks. BIG difference in taste(!), how fast i'm feeling it, and the most important: no need to roll a joint (now i see that was the tobacco talking).

FUCK tobacco, FUCK combustion

PV has the Vortex stems in stock ... currently .
Just ordered up another one as a back up .
I can't wait to try their Vortex Gongs with the thick glass
when they come in .

Had seen PV before. Just to order a stem from the USA to Europe is pretty expensive because of the import tax and shipping price I think..

Listen to @CarolKing and you'll do well. My Solo with the straight stem and no o-ring is really wobbly, so much so that I can't pick it up by the stem or the Solo falls off, and if I turn it upside down a gentle shake makes the stem fall out. I use the o-ring because I'm clumsy and the friction that the o-ring provides keeps it in place when handling the Solo. I still don't pick it up by the stem because with this particular stem it can still slip out. I've had other straight stems in the past that were very secure with the o-ring on and shaking it couldn't get it off. I usually move the stem around the Solo while using it as well, out of habit. She likes it when I rock the stem ;)

I hold mine with my thumb

because that's the easiest way for me to hold it. You could use a piece of 1/2 " silicone cut down the middle length-wise as a heat sleeve on the end, easy to remove and place. If you want to use less material you can do a variety of screen mods, currently I use two flat dome screens back to back and it reduces the stem down to about 1/2 the size

this is a better dose for me personally. I can remove both and flip one over and have a full stem but usually the 1/2 stem is enough. Big enough to get a session at level 2 and enjoy the amazing taste and effects of this ChemDawg, then I can go at it at 3-4 or get it on the water path and go up to 6-7.

The special cutoff charger that @OF made and sent me doing work

If you have a chillum that can fit, you can use some silicone and add it to the end of your stem. Longer glass airpath cools the vapor a little bit and after a while the inside of the chillum is coated in vapor resin. @ataxian showed us this one!

My bent stem falls out before I have my Solo completely turned upside down. But it's really no hassle, I just use that one for home use.

I'm gonna try your screen setup, sounds interesting! With the bent stem i don't need screens because the holes are much smaller than the straigt stem I have. In this case it's just an extra thingy to look after since it clogs up pretty fast.
But with the straight stem I definetly need screens ( big ass holes), so it's worth a shot!

As far with the chillum and all, I have never seen or heard of it :p
But the high temps (6 mostly) helps me replace the smoking because of the harshness of it and the more sedative effects. So it's not of life importance.

Looks like @OF is a smart motherfucker! I would not even dare to tamper with things, let alone make myself a better charger!

Be careful when you attach a silicone whip to a PVHES stealth adapter. Sometimes it loses the friction and fall out.
I've learned this now the hard way, my favourite and precious stealth adapter is broken now :(
It just fell out from the whip onto hard floor as I've been holding the whip.
Fuck, this mini whip stem was realy my favourite, and the adapter was so crazy expensive I've been hoping it would last forever :(
