The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

Thank you for the reply, I was under the impression that mighty and crafty are convection based and only cooked while hitting . And excelled in battery life so I was under the assumption it would operate like a easier more precise heavier hitting Ff. I can't imagine paying the asking price for a conduction device, they are all pretty much the same imho

The Mighty is not pure convection, at all. If you leave herb in it while it's on at highish temps you can even see vapour escaping from the mouthpiece. I was a bit bummed out about this but then took another hit from it and my concern soon faded away :p

What I do is just keep my finger over the mouthpiece, like that the vapour that would escape instead builds up in the cooling unit. I like to imagine it makes the next hit even better. Some of the vapour will condense inside the unit, but that doesn't generally bother me as you can harvest in the form of oil for use later.

If you're concerned about the whole conduction thing a lot of users seem to think it's part of how this unit manages to pull of such great and large hits. Comparing this to something like the MiniVap, which is pure convection, the Mighty produces bigger clouds (from the little I've read, don't kill me), if clouds are something you're after.

The Mighty is not on the level of a conduction vape. It vapes herbs evenly, very evenly. There is literally no possible way to combust. There is no need to stir, at all.

I've never tried a FF but I've heard good things about them, besides batter life.

I have both, and equally love them. They are so apples and oranges in comparison.

The Mighty is the best of conduction, and does everything it says it does. Gets every bit out of your herb, is an ease to use, and leaves the ABV perfect, without any stirring.

The FF is the best of convection and an entirely different beast. I love the idea of hitting only when I want a hit, unlike the Mighty where the "Clock is ticking" from the moment you turn it on. Also, cleaning could not be easier and I love the feel of it in my hand.

With the Mighty, you have to really concentrate with how you manage the use since once you fire it up, it starts to cook.

With the FF, you can get lost in other endeavors (music, movies, etc) and not worry that you are wasting vape that is cooking.

I had the Mighty for the last month, and have been using exclusively, but then I went back to the FF, and fell in love with it again. The FF is harder to use,(there is technique to master) but I love that the session is completely under my control.

I was seriously about to ask this today and you answered it. I think I'm gonna start saving :)

So my power button stopped working for no apparent reason on MY001697 last Friday. I ordered another mighty and it arrived today. I also sent my original out for repair today. I was not too happy combusting over the weekend but I should be good to go with two mighty's:rockon:. I will come back with any updates on the two units.

idk, if I had to buy a second S&B unit I would get a crafty..... 2 mighty seems overkill.

yeah I had the same problem except that there is something rattling around in my mighty which im guessing is a broken part of the power button. did you receive an update when they received it?

Im debating whether or not to get another mighty as backup/for the car or if I should try the crafty.....i have had nothing but amazing results so far with my mighty and it seems like there have been multiple issues going on with the crafty, enough to make me nervous....another factor is that I have a phone running on Android 5.0 and from what i understand there is still a compatibility issue with the app.

I really want to try the crafty.....WHAT SAY YOU FC??

Edit: IS there anybody out there that has both devices that can shed some light here ??

As far as I can tell crafty has slightly lower power output , 1/2 battery life and needs cleaning more often. I go out for the day a lot and need something with me all day long. I only have two because I love it and don't want downtime. I don't mind the size of the mighty and love the performance. I often smoke the same load in 3 different sessions but most of my strains are ~30% thc. After my power button stopped working there was definitely something rattling inside the device. I have no clue how it happened

Just bought a Mighty from vapetownusa, 20% off, $375 total. My Alfa that I bought in October stopped working yesterday, gonna return it. This made me think, at this rate how many $200 portables am I gonna run through....
How do you return it after having it two months? Curious

there's some weird math going on. Its more like 3 or 4 months for the return and a $375 "disposable" portable :)

Hello everyone. I picked up a Mighty yesterday and have a couple questions.

Upon my first charge, it already had 4 bars of battery with 2 left flashing. After about 4 hours leaving it plugged in, the last bar was still flashing. The manual says that the unit will stop flashing and all 6 bars will be present and full when its completely charged. I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in and it went straight to full 6 bars, not flashing, and complete. Is this normal? It didn't leave a good first impression..

Also regarding temperature control, I set mine to heat to 360 F. Once it gets there and vibrates, it immediately drops to 357, then goes up to 360, and even up to 361. It goes back and forth through these temperatures without me taking draws. I understand the temperature drops a couple units while taking draws, but was wondering if just letting the vape sit there makes the temperature fluctuate.

I haven't used it yet and am considering taking it back to my shop. I got their last one in store and it was open box, which I wasn't too happy about. The charging issue right out of the box has me thinking this could be a defective unit, or could lead to problems soon down the road. Any feedback is appreciated.

I have both and I'm really glad. The crafty for the car and work is better for stealth. The battery life, heat up time and led screen on the mighty for around the house. It's very handy.. or should I say crafty for my situation.

Hi mindspin. I find that the temp may dance in and around the set temp. Mine does go 1 degree higher then down as you mentioned. Some users have noted in this thread that the charge indicator bars are not super accurate.

Mine seems to stay at 6 bars when fully charged for 2 sessions then after 3rd session quickly goes to 4 bars etc.
But its close enough and i have a unit that works perfectly as advertized.

It should be covered I think, they won't get it til next Monday. It was such a letdown when I realized it wasn't going to turn on. on the bright side, s&b had a new one at my door the next business day(half a stack later lol) and I finally got a car charger.....

The temp fluctuations are completely normal IMO. It behaves similarly to a volcano digit. The temp sensor in there is very accurate, and quite sensitive to small changes, which would account for this.

I'm also assuming that it goes a degree or two higher in order to try and keep the temp as close as possible to what u set it at, without keeping the heater constantly on.

I'm a fan of espresso and the espresso machines remind me of these vapes, in that temp stability is of utmost importance and is probably one of the single biggest factors that determine their price. In the espresso world u can easily shell out 5 figures for a machine that is very temp stable. Yes this is off topic a bit, but because of my experience with espresso, I find my crafty temperature control to be impressive.

I forgot this vape since I've been playing with the haze and minivap recently. I just cleaned the cooling unit and this thing gives me monster clouds. I can imagine that this is the power of a table top plug in. Since I have been using a lot of concentrates, I didn't expect the mighty to hit me so hard. But wow, I got super medicated after 1 bowl, starting off at 370f and increasing 10 degrees after a few hits and finishing at 410.

How does the Haze compare to the Mighty in clouds and effect, mixchu69?

Hi I’m new to these threads and made an account to post. I didn't know about this forum thread when I was looking into these and instead just looked around youtube and found elmomuzz video a while back. I have at unit within SN1600 range As for my quick review about this is that this is everything the omega the alpha haha but it lived up to what everyone else said truly something get the job done

Why the mighty and what happened

Why I picked this over the crafty and even a volcano. When I was young I’ve always wanted a volcano but I never had the money as a normal teenager wouldn’t. Now I have a decent job and I was looking into the volcano and they just released the portables at the time JUST brand new so I looked up youtube videos and its was so new only 3 reviews were available. I took a fair amount of going back and forth between the 3 units and almost got a volcano.
The price points were all within the same range crafty being about $450 mighty being about $500 and volcano like $520 locally so it was about what was BETTER for ME. I would be vaping mostly at home so it was pretty much a volcano or mighty at this point I thought since its only about 50-70 dollars more than the crafty might as well go with the big dog, though usb charging is very nice. I went with the mighty because it’s portable tiny and didn’t make much noise as I work very late (2 am) and did not want a running motor in my room. Took the leap without even finding this thread and didn’t regret it. Nothing to crafty or its users but for me it wasn’t much more expensive and you a stronger longer beast of a vaporizer, and if size is the problem at first I thought it was gonna be huge not the case it’s about the size of a Samsung note3/4/iphone6+ and the width is about the same as 2 of those phones stacked together. This is an INVESTMENT it’s worth it, save up if you don’t have the money and probably a new better version will be out.

This is my first time owning a vaporizer for flower. As for concentrates how do you heat it up? I go for 200-210C for those and 170-190C for flower. I just got into concentrates; boy I was missing out for so long the flavor is so nice and gets me so high, I’ve been pressing the concentrates as flat as I can so then put it on the liquid pad so it doesn’t make a mess in the heating chamber. For anyone that’s going to buy one there some tips I think are worth stating
Use you the filling tool; im slightly OCD and i like a nice clean pack and I totally understand those who don't but i like a nice clean look and don't make a mess/waste while packing
Clean this monster; honestly clean at least once a week I read that another user cleans every two days but yeah I clean once a week to get nice flavor and I mean common no need to be lazy you paid 500$ take care of these things.
Buy a wear and tear set; my only regret was not getting one it comes with so much 4 liquid pads 1 cooling chamber and a bunch of screens it’s worth it because you get the 2nd cooling chamber so when you clean the first one you can get straight into more sessions. I am glad I got a mighty but I guess things have their faults too

Anyways I googled the problem "err 004 mighty" and found this thread, started from the beginning to see what other people had to say about the unit. How do you clean your liquid pads? I’ve never owned anything with a liquid pad before I’m thinking about putting it into 70% ISO. How hot does your cooling chamber get? It’s super-hot for me but at low temps it get very hot I know this sounds stupid because the chamber should get hot but my gets so hot I can’t touch it for more than 1 second even at 170C. Pass though charging is a hit or miss for me, before I would be able to power up the unit fully discharged and I could use it right away but now it needs reaches 2 bars which is similar to the crafty but Pass through is one of the selling points. @t-dub doesn’t have that problem and I didn’t before either.

The temp, when I have it discharged is a hit or miss when it vibrates and alerts me that it’s ready to vape. Sometimes gets to where it needs to be and vibrates and the other half it doesn’t also on top of that it floats around the temp I want it at, for example, I set it to 190C and it'll go to 189 188 and never get to 190 I'll turn down the temp to let’s say 187 it'll go to 187 and then drop to 186

@futurebong you posted (#575) did they send you a unit first and you sent your unit back?

@NickDlow (#845) your mighty kit is SICK I use a simple 5$ ego vape pen to hold my mighty so I don’t damage it when I bring it around.

@elmomuzz (#859) man you truly are a pioneer in this, taking all to the next level

@GR (#1028 PG42)@mixchu69 (#1484 PG60) Im also getting the problem and I’ve been doing that trick too but it doesn’t vibrate all the time. It sucks because I mean we shouldn’t be using workarounds for something we spent $500 I wouldn’t care as much if the price point was $100

@herbivore21 (#1201 PG49) I HAD THE EXACT PROBLEM AS YOU exactly the same 2 bars at about 210C with the liquid pad inside

@adam_baumm (#1521 PG61) did you damage the chamber? Also was it easy I really don’t want to wreck anything almost broke my first screen when I was cleaning the first time -.- never gonna make that mistake again

Well I read post pretty much my eyes hurt

Props

- Everyone seems cool here

- we all love this machine pretty much

- people being creative and having nice addons

...very nice post man...welcome.
...never had any error message with my mighty and I've had it since early Dec.
...I do believe one of the variables of the temp is the environment you're in...In s.f. where I rarely have to turn on heat my mighty and crafty rarely fluctuate .
if I take the units outside...I notice dancing much more..
..yeah I clean my units every other day...this maintains them being easy to clean, as gunk is really not allowed to become.."problematic"...had a bad experience with the pax that I'm NOT looking to duplicate...

Regarding temperature fluctuations, I agree with Turk that it depends on the temperature outside (if it's windy and cold), my temp dances around the target temp. If it never vibrates, I drop the temp down 5 degrees Fahrenheit and it vibrates (I know that it should vibrate all the time). Recently, I cleaned the cooling unit after a session with one of those small disposable ISO wipe for cuts and burns. I didn't use the mighty for several days after and this thing hits hard but it's a little harsher. I regret not washing the cooling unit after wiping it down with ISO (I thought it would be fine because I'm not submerging it).

There are only 2 reasons why I feel that the vapor got harsher
1) the ISO wipe not followed by washing it with warm water (I doubt this is the reason)
2) I fell in love with the minivap with the herbie whip, where it is so smooth that I feel like I'm just breathing in air, not vapor (monster clouds too). The long whip probably cools the vapor immensely. I bet if I did it with the mighty, it would be the same.
