Jack of all trades, master of none.
Until you get it working again, you can take the mouthpiece out and put it in the charger to charge or take it off and it'll be turned off. I don't use the lube. Did you try it before applying the lube.?

I don't get the lube. I've got one of the old 'single party mode' pax second revision MP tube collar/groove and I have never had any use for the lube or ever used it. No problems require it ime. Wipe the metal stem on the MP regularly and It solves the temp light issue.

Any pop outs of the Mp has usually been my technique pushing it in. Lubing it up could probably help it pop out imo. Not to mention dust and crap sticking onto the lube sounds like way more bother than its worth.

I say ditch the lube and wipe regulary, simple and cleaner!

Man my pax finally kicked the bucket. Went to charge it , it turned orange for a few seconds then no light. Repositioned it, it flickered red and died. Now won't turn on. Sent it to ploom today. Anyone have this happen to them?

Firefly is holding me over till I get mine back or maybe a new unit.

I'm not sure exctally how to search for this problem ..SO I will just ask and hope someone can help. I've heard there is some kind of a spring or catch like that.. that can get stuck and make and make the unit think its still on...its never done this before but tonight..i removed the mouthpiece to charge (since it still wont stay shut 90% of the time.) and it would stay on.. i tried to set it on the charging dock and it stayed green... any ideas and if there is a catch is there an easy way to get it to release?

I'm not quite sure..I got it from Vape World if I remember right....it's a little over a year old...but thinking back I don't remember signing up with the warranty.. Mainly I was unsure of sending it through the mail, even with a damn good cleaning!

In the mean time is there a way to shut the unit off..

@DopeFight Well Pax has a 10 year warranty. I wouldn't worry about sending it the mail, a good cleaning is really all you need. I sent vapes through the mail that have combusted by defect.Vape world should still have your proof of purchase.

I will say the same as another member said :
If you set it on the charger without the mouthpeice, then take it off the charger, it should turn off. Thats what I do whenever I clean it.

Hi from Sunny Wales,
I have just put up a post on the Arizer Air thread asking for advice on the merits/ disadvantages of the Arizer Air V the PAX, but I thought it best to put a separate one on here asking the same questions, and a few specific to the PAX. I gave up combustion several years ago, but have stuck with my only vaporizer, the MFLB. But I think it is time to get another . The only other vaporizer I have used is the PAX a few times as a friend owns one. I really like it as it's so small and discreet and it seems to give decent clouds of fairly flavoured vapour. when I first looked into the PAX, it appeared that it would not be warrantied in the UK. But namastevapes, who sell them say that they have an agreement with Ploom and I don't have to worry about the warranty. also, what about changing the battery which can't go on forever and general reliability . So, if anyone has tried both the PAX and the Arizer Air, I would welcome opinions about quality of flavour, ease of use and anything else I should consider.
Cheers, Bagpuss.

welcome bagpuss5? i recently made purchase of both pax and air to avoid spending $470 for the mighty from storz&bickel. 1st pax is a herb hog. i've found several hacks to cut loads in half. a quick search will generate some results. the air is nice cuz you can swap out bats. i water filter through both pax and air. as far as vapor production they both do really well. i'd lean toward the air for the following reasons. pax is a unit you must clean almost daily it seems. air requires none cleaning. air allows better portability with extra batteries. both are zero learning curve vapes which was a requirement for other users to enjoy. all things being equal the air is far less maintenance and far easier for rigging. you can find a brilliant GonG for air/solo on planetvape.ca under glass accessories. i like both vapes very much - i end up using the pax more personally on account the mrs has commandeered the air.

I'd love to hear what you think about Pax Vs Firefly (this may not be the thread for it though)

Firefly was my other consideration but ultimately I got a Pax first. The reasons that led me to that decision was mainly it's ease of use for new vapers and it's discretion.

It's impossibly small but powerful enough to be my daily vape. Really impressed with the package and how Ploom supports their product w a 10 year warranty. Very happy w my decision so far.

How do you do water filtration un a pax. I am trying to use it again for a trip I am going on as it is way more discreet. I've never seen any way to attach it to filtration. This is why I love the solo so much. Wild love to know how you do it

i googled pax water filter or something and did the one where i got another pax mouthpiece and pulled the metal dealy out and stuck it in the end of a piece of tubing from my mflb h2o pipe adaptor. then pull thru your favorite piece of glass. works like magic.

I'd love to hear what you think about Pax Vs Firefly (this may not be the thread for it though)

Firefly was my other consideration but ultimately I got a Pax first.

my firefly stays in a cubby in a hutch that i pull out on a lark once a week or so to see if i can get some love. my screen set my load alight with instant combustion the last time i fired it up. that means she gets put away for a month or more now before i'll think about it. the firefly is great on flavor. the pax and air are daily workhorses.

My ff can't combust if I tried. as someone who owns both I don't use my pax much anymore as the boss is better at stealth. My ff outshines any of my other vapes imo. Pax is good portable workhorse, the 10 year warranty is nifty.

I am still a big fan of pax. I think it has sentimental value because it was my first vape purchase. I don't have many all conduction vaporizer, and never had an issue. Buy the 7.99 lubricant and all is good. When I clean it really good, it feels like I have unrestricted airflow. But the only issue is stirring. I have to pop out the hot chamber lid and stir with a toothpick and then tamp down with chopsticks.

I haven't kept up with this thread because this is old reliable for me. I definitely got to scan thru and find all the innovative mods that the FC community comes up with. I saw the packing funnel with the mflb grinder (seems like a good idea).

I never have to stir using the screen the trick.
I know youve seen my Pax vid. That is one of the main reasons why I still use my Pax. Last night my buddy who saw my vid and who has a Pax wanted to run his through water. So I made him the adapter I have and he was blown away.

I've had a Pax for a year and half now. It's always been great. Took it with me to many places including Burning Man '13. The mouthpiece was a problem for a while but I manage to fix that by adjusting the spring inside a little bit.

However since last week it's not heating up at all anymore. The purple light goes on, but no warmth building up in the oven. It just stays on purple.

Since I bought it via Ebay and I am in Europe I figure I probably don't have warranty on it, so I opened it up to have a look.

Turns out the heating element has burnt out, as you can see on this photo:

zII9Pr0.jpg

The black spot on the right is where it's burnt out. I have no idea why this happened. I didn't leave it on without a load, and the Pax has a timeout so that it shuts off automatically after not being handled for a while (using a motion detector).

I have a genuine Pax, I looked at the various checks, the screen, the hex screw, etc. I've opened a ticket with their support but no answer yet. As I said I'm not expecting a warranty repair, but if I could just be sent another heating element, then I could fix this myself and save a lot of money buying a new one.

Anyone else with this problem?

Anyone who knows where the heating element can be found?

I had the same symptoms on 2 of my Paxes. Purple light would come on, no heat was produced.

Both times when I sent the units back for warranty, they sent me entirely new Paxes. I'm not sure if it's because the repair is impossible or just too costly, but Ploom sends out new units instead of replacing the heating element.

I was an early adopter and it happened to me once. I sent it back to Vapeworld and they replaced it, pronto. A few months ago I had a different issue with the spring and Ploom fixed and returned it, again pronto. Always contact Ploom or you dealer with legitimate repair issues. If your Pax is a knock off, you've gotten what you've paid for.
