Dissolving the bho in ethanol helped ease my mind but I don't notice much difference in taste. I believe I have a sensitive taste to oil. The qwkx I made taste very similar to me as the bho did originally. I've learned also to let off the button on the oil pen after 5 seconds So it doest taste too toasty also. Thanks guys.

But I like it!

The taste on my first batch of qwiso concerned me, so I wound up dissolving it into a batch of topical. But I persevered, and my second batch tasted the same. I left it alone for awhile, and tried it again a week or two later, and it's pretty darn nice now. So maybe the secret is to give it a bit of time as well?

Also I kinda figured out that whole 'how long to push' on my own. The first oil pen would flash, which I assumed was the signal for 'let go of the button'. The new pen puts out way too much, so I do a 3 to 5 second burst initially, then the occasional 1 or 2 second push during inhale. So far, so good, but I feel like a lab rat :)

Just purge it good and full. Even when its purged you can have off taste from your starting material. I turned three batches into goo by slowly increasing the temp under vac to try to get what I was sure to be a chemical taste out. Turned out it was just my starting materials. I dont believe the material was flushed out well and the nutrients were the cause of the flavor.

But I have to say, I have gotten an extremely similar taste from what I know to be a good consintraits from pens, ceramic nail, and quartz nail if the temp is too hot.

Volute of Vapor
Hi, I find a nice way to carb cap a traditionnal nail, I use a bowl from my VP-600 (noble vapor, my worst buy), I already kept it to use it to connect a whip to my Cloud+ but it can replace a dôme and act as a carb cap, it works very well....the only issue is to put your dab in the cup you need a very slim and long dabber which fit the small hole....

I think it works very well to keep low temp cause the room is smaller than in a traditionnal dôme and you can even add a bit more carb cap with putting your finger on the little hole to restrict a bit more the airflow.

Very happy cause I bought a cheap carb cap fo my Ti domeless but it don't fit really well and don't act as a carb cap and my new setup permit to me low temp dabbing.

Hi Very high
Crafty QWISO run reclaim....mmmm much better than I thought and much much better than my previous runs. Normally my QWISO comes out unbelievable dark! Very happy with the results as this is just from my cleaning ISO jar. I have a jar full of ABV and stems that will be getting the ISO treatment next!

On the talk of carb caps what the best option (funtion/price) for carb caping a Green Buddha Quartz banger. Or at least what are my options. I tried my ceramic carb cap and wasnt happy. I want something that fits better.

Before I got my enail, I was using a Green Buddha banger. I used an 18/14 reducer with my finger covering the hole. You can vary the restriction with this method. You could also try a marble, but that may get hot. You could even use a flower bowl.

Dude you have inspired me to do this. I'm new to the concentrate game. (Hey, I'm old and in the Midwest!). How do u plan to consume it? Vape in the crafty or do you have a separate device. I'd apreciate any help. Like I said I'm noob to this. Thanks in advance to anyone that posts any tips.

Dudes - tried dry sift for the first time.

:rockon::D:cool::nod::razz::zzz:

That's all I have to say.

ive been wanting to do a dry sift and then a qwet run on that return. this would allow for much less solvent being used which would greatly speed up evap time.

are you just vpling the dry sift return?

I reaaaaaally wanna get some bubble bags

there is another company that makes high quality dry sift bags for less than the Bubble Bag brand. cant for the life of me remember the name of them now tho... they also offer a single bag kit that comes with one bag of and a cup to shake out of. shaker kit or something like that.

EDIT*** i remember! check out "boldt bags"

Hi Very high
@Pjake I am fairly new myself my friend. Being in the UK the most I have ever seen is Kief and QWISO. I have made this QWISO same method but this is the best run yet, previously it just comes out super thick and dark. Not very appealing at all.

So far I have only tried some in my Dr Dabber Ghost Pen, very nice and good effects with a tiny amount used.

I will try a small blob mixed in with some herb into my crafty and report back on how that goes.

I am so jealous of you bro! Was that some of that 99% glandular trichome head content dry sift? Did it fully melt? Did it dance across the palate? If so, do you believe it possible that it could dance its way over to my neck of the woods? lol

@2clicker dude, high end dry sift is better than anything that is typically made with any industrial solvent. If you have beautiful white crystalline powdered fully melting dry sift, it would be a shame to pour a solvent onto it.

Remember, cannabis plants feature water soluble terps which we cannot extract with traditional solvents. Dry sift gets those goodies :D

Also remember that those 98-99% trichome head dry sifts are gonna be purer than most if not all of the best absolute shatters.

Furthermore, guys dry sift >>> bubble. The reason is because the water used in bubble will pull out water soluble terps with all of that plant material.

I think 2clicker just wants to cut down on the amount of initial plant material. a rough dry sift can easily reduce 70% of the plant by weight- a pretty smart thing to do if you have a lot to process and/or expensive solvents. The tradeoff is that excessive dry sifting will break cell walls- leading to more chlorophyll/lipids in your oil and lowering the quality. I agree that running high-end dry sift is blasphemy though. :bang:

Also do you know which particular terpenes are water soluble? I've done some reading on the topic and was under the impression that most terpenes are water insoluble.

i get that, but i wasnt planning on using multiple bags. i was going to a fine mesh and qwet that. so in my case... i will not be refining it down to crystalline powder (heads only). from what i understand the that takes quite a bit of time...?

my goal was to reduce the amount of solvent needed to make shatter. but you have me entrigued tho thats for sure.

so if the dry ice sift pulls actives out that solvents dont... the returns should be heavier yeah...?

also, if you do get it refined that much can you make it a solid with a touch of heat? or does it have to stay powdery?

i was under the impression that a pure sift is more refined than an oil made by solvents, but not by enough to justify the extra work. i figured my qwet runs when filtered down to 10 micron makes a damn refined oil.

im planning a run in a couple of weeks. i may have to cop some dry sifting gear and give it a shot.

Yea I wanna know how you did this too. Your telling me you can make oil from vaped bud with ISO? And it tastes good?

Hi Very high
@DMPesso It tastes much better than I thought it would. Mixed with herb in the crafty you don't really taste the oil but it does make the session last an age! I had to turn it off I am well and truly waxed!! It feels much stronger in the Crafty than the Ghost pen. I just take a small blob of oil and mix it with the herb so it cover all the oil then put it in crafty cover with more herb!
