Best Portable for Home Use?

My girlfriend is in the market for a vaporizer, preferably electric and around $150-$200. Basically a portable that can compete with a desktop. Size isn't really an issue if that would matter (that sounded dirtier than I intended), but she would just want to be able to walk around the house using it. She has used my MFLB before so if the Flashvape would be a good choice it wouldn't really be a learning curve for her.

Thank y'all!

The question is whether or not she wants it to act like a one-hitter like the mflb, or like a session vape where she needs to finish the bowl in one session. The firefly can be used like the mflb but has a learning curve. The Solo is brainless but you don't want to fire it up for just one hit. Other than that, they both are good hitters that should satisfy. I'm pretty sure the Solo can be had for substantially less money.

If you want something to kinda compete with a desk style vaporizer I think the Solo would fit the bill for a portable. That looked like your major question.

The Solo isn't a one hitter. It's more of a session vape. You could go for 5 min and take the stem out when finished. Later you can put the stem back in and finish the bowl. It also works well with water tools. You could probably find one for less than $160. Puffitup will price match.

The Firefly would be a good choice as a tasty, instant on at home vape. Its only liability IMO is the battery, which would not be a factor for use at home.

Firefly is just a bit over my budget.

The question is whether or not she wants it to act like a one-hitter like the mflb, or like a session vape where she needs to finish the bowl in one session.

I hadn't thought about that. I know she'd enjoy the simplicity of the Solo but I think her usage would be more like taking 1-2 draws and putting it down for a little while. Would the Solo cook the bud if it is left in the unit? Or is there a cheaper electric option than the Firefly that can compete?

The hammer doesn't use electronics but it's like a portable "log" vape. I often find myself using the hammer over my enano Just because I can walk around with it and get the same results. You can take a few puffs and put It down. you should even check out daisy. I never want to mess around with batteries again, since getting a butaine vape. Good luck

The thing is she doesn't want to have to use a lighter. I suppose the Hammer is a bit different I could see how she feels about it.

+1 on what Turk said. Additionally, you can order a specialty stem from PlanetVape called PVHS Shorty stem. The benifit is increased air flow and a smaller bowl perfect for the lower tolerance or occasional user. It holds about .08g vs about.16g for the stock stem. You probably could get full extraction in 4 or 5 hits. The downside is they cost about $22 or so. These stems work great and are quite popular among Solo users.

Ok, so technically removing the stem between hits works. But it's still draining your battery sitting there not heating anything, and if you get into the habit of heating it up and taking a hit and turning it off, and repeating, you will run the battery out sooner than normal.

But more importantly, if she doesn't want to fiddle with a lighter I'm not so sure she is going to want to fiddle with a very hot piece of glass between hits. You have to place it somewhere while it is hot in an upside down-ish position to keep the herb from falling out. I think she will hate that and think the vape is a pain in the ass.

Desktop performance in a portable is hard to achieve. The Crafty and Plenty come to mind, but they are in the $370 to $500 range. The MiniVap would be perfect, but it is in the $500 range. The Solo is a great vape, but not if you are into one hitters. I wish you hadn't said a lighter is out of the question, as there are several very good, cheap portables that can knock some desktop units out! The Lotus, Daisy and Lily come to mind first.

In the end, I think the Solo is the one to get if you are dedicated to having an electric unit. She will enjoy the sessions and will be in the right place when it is over. But if she can get past the lighter issue I think she will really like some of the ones I mentioned more.

I really want the MiniVap or Mighty for my own use, but they are very expensive. I know she'd enjoy something like the Lotus or Lily. I'll have to try to convince her that she'll have to use a lighter to get what she's looking for.

Thank you everyone!

Well I had seen the Flowermate v7 for around that price. I'm assuming you're talking about the v5? Where did you find it for that price?

Thanks @turk I wasn't sure if it was mostly convection and only drew in heat as you took your draw.

+1 for Solo. Pretty darn close description Beluga. The oven will heat the glass bowl some but its the act of pulling/inhaling the heated air through the glass bowl/stem that causes the vaporization. It's definitely a convection vape and not a conduction vape.

Solo!

I forgot about my fresh green solo pack for the whole twlve minute session...turned it back on and forgot for another like 5 minutes...still got hella rips so i dont think burning the weed up while not pulling is a huge issue. I think if she gets the Solo shell want to take more than a few hits! Best tasting vape I know of too...i think girls would like that? Haha :hmm:

Well it looks like she wants a Solo. I've never looked into one myself but from what I've read I'll probably be borrowing it every once in a while :D.

Can anyone comment on how the Solo compares to the Lily or Daisy? After researching both the Solo and Lily for my GF I think I might really want a Lily.

@Beluga since you've been following the threads I take it you know how different they are by design so I'll Just say in use The Daisy can be a huge hitting vape that gives clouds of dense vapor few vapes I've used come close too, I can blast through a couple solo stems worth of herb if I want in way less time then just one stem in the Solo or do a small load and stretch out a session for hours since it's 100% on demand convection.

The solo for me takes at least 12 minutes(when it times out) if not 20 to finish a stem and I feel (for me at least) with the Solo once you start a stem you gotta finish it. The solo for me using it dry serves one purpose and that's sitting back doing long sipping sessions, it does give big, tasty, visible vapor hits for a portable and really does what it does well.

I like 'em both ... though if I had to part with one or the other I'd hold onto Daisy. I know this isn't very deep of a comparison i played with daisy and the vapman a bit much this evening.

Can't wait to try the Lily myself and have one on the way now. The few Reviews sound promising though which i kinda expected being as it's sort of a Daisy on a smaller scale.

rereading this I guess the big difference to me is i like the solo and Love the Daisy while expecting to be feeling really good about Lily too.

:D ... :leaf: ... :peace:

Thanks @RUDE BOY you're a very helpful dude!

Looks like I'm on board the Lily train as well. And I would have been playing with my Vapman too if the lighter I had ordered with the unit (about a month ago) had arrived yet . I finally decided to order a cheap torch off of Amazon while I wait and that should be here in the next couple days.

I know I might me acting a bit quick by buying the Lily without even using my Vapman yet but I think it's too good to pass up.

Gotta say Having a virgin Vapman sitting around with no torch to use would mess with my mind a bit.

The vapman torch is quite nice and works really well, there were some on ebay for $14 well Worth it to use with the vapman it if you can swing it, works well with the daisy too.

But for Daisy I've mainly been using the torch I got with it for months now and am amazed at how it's lasted and they're pretty cheap on the triihouse website too, $5. (and like $2-$4 if you buy 'em from china and wait a few months to get them) they also work well with the vapman (and Vapor genie+ lotus).

to be honest the cheap torch that came with the Daisy(and is in the lily kit) changed my view on torch powered vapes.

I always had such bad luck with torch type cigar and pipe lighters from smoke shops and such that cost way more then $5 bucks. Once I found these cheap chinese '1300c butane torches' the whole flame powered vape game opened up big-time for me.

with 1/2 dozen torches for backup now and armed with the vapman, Daisy, vapor genie and lotus (soon Lily too) and a case of butane I'm ready to vape anywhere and anytime for a while.

(i keep sayin' I'm gonna downsize my collection but every time I give one away another one takes it's place)

So... which would you recommend to someone who wants one butane-powered vape? :p
I'm most interested in the Lily, Vapman and Lotus

I think your girlfriend will be happy with the Solo. The flowermate seemed similar but just didn't work for me. You can find Solo's on sale now for less than $150. Unlike others on this thread I do tend to turn mine on and off over a few hours rather than finishing at one time with no problem. Maybe that works for me because I have a wood stem so it's not too hot to remove.
As for your other comment- I don't like butane vaporizers but I just bought the Lily. Too tempting to pass up.
