Pen Imag Plus

Well my testing of the new Imag Plus Ceramic is completed. I owe Relaxo Technology a review for sending me a sample unit. Firstly I would like to say that I really like this company. I admire the way they have gone about releasing this product.

Unfortunately I am unable to provide a proper review as I have concluded that my unit is faulty. I don't know what it is. I have gotten it to produce whispy vapor on the red setting but nothing else. I have tried all kinds of variations with the mouthpiece, my pack, my grind consistency, covering or not covering the air inlets as well as a variety of draw techniques and speeds. I simply can not get mine to work. On green and blue it does not produce any vapor at all. On red it may produce some inconsistent whispy vapor but the AVB is very light and it is certainly not extracting properly.

I like the form of this vaporizer. The new black version with the pattern looks nice imo. The size is good but it is definitely more like a sharpie than a pen. I know earlier users wanted the mouthpiece fixed so it will not fall of in the pockets of user. That has been addressed but I dislike the mouthpiece. imo it looks cheap and nasty and is simply a variation of other mouthpieces we have seen come from Chinese manufacturers.

There is not much else I can add all considered. I'm glad to see others are posting positive reviews and I hope that my faulty unit does not put others off purchasing one. I still think this will be successful once they are able to produce a model that works consistently.

I did originally see this vaporizer as a direct competitor to the Grasshopper but I don't really think so now. I think the form is much bigger and that this unit can not really be considered to be a 'pen' vaporizer. It is more like a 'marker' vaporizer.

Is it worth getting this version of imag plus or am I better off buying the phantom cloud v premium version?
Honestly I am starting to really like mine. My biggest complaint is efficiency does not seem as good because I use the arizer air and enano BUT perhaps it is inline with pax, flowermate, and other portables? I have to load what feels like a good bit more compared to arizer air. Flower comes out very well extracted so I have a feeling this aspect is inline with some of the other portables out there. It is very stealthy. My friend (new convert to vaporization) loves it. The mouthpiece locks in very well (a new fix I believe?). I believe this one has 3 temp settings and a changeable screen vs the Cloud V. I dont notice the draw restriction that some testers were reporting (said it is more restrictive than cloud V). But I have not tried the older imag+ (cloud V) so I dont have that to compare it to (but do have the arizer solo+air). In my experience two biggest negatives compared to arizer air is IMAG seems less efficient and flavor is not as good. I think IMAG will have a much lower price and will probably make many people happy (like the flowermate). Imag is good as long as the company prices it right.

@Mr. Gweilo 420 I think you definitely have a defective unit. Running on red? I have never attempted red with a fresh bowl, scared of the harness and huge clouds. I get pretty good low temp clouds on blue and get huge clouds on green. Red I use to finish the bowl (if taste isnt getting to bad). Mouthpiece isnt great but I think if it worked like it should your opinion would have been better on other aspects (like build). I agree mouthpiece isnt amazing but it seems to get the job done and IMO the rest of the unit is surprisingly solid feeling.

Have you emailed them? I hope they send you another to test!

So is it true you can only get 300 recharges before you have to get a completely new imag since u can't take out the batterys? Cause I know the first imag and first phantom cloud v u can replace the battery's but the new phantom v premium and imag plus j can't change the battery's so is it true? 300 charges and then u need a new imag?

Cause I have a firefly now just trying to get something more discreet and my choices are either imag plus phantom cloud v premium or arizer air so I need to know if imag and phantom just 300 max charge cycles and then u need to get a brand new imag or phantom.

I have no clue but dont see why it would only be 300 cycles. Removable battery in arizer is a plus though. They both are using 18650's and both are similar in capacity, both get good battery life. I wonder what kind of battery IMAG used though, I would guess likely not as good.

Air is alot more $ than IMAG, I would say its worth the price difference. But I am glad lower price options are getting better.

No it is not. Your Imag Plus with built-in battery has a 1y warranty against defects, including battery up to 300 cycles - which means capacity should start decrease around 300 cycles. I have Li batteries still in good use, well beyond their "lifetime". Depends how you care for them. Estimating cycles is a difficult task though, so I guess the number given is just a guidance.

I got my today, and smell was really bad (plastic) anyway, smell was coming from mouthpiece so i wash it with ISO and now it's fine. interesting that i have all the air path/holes on the side, and it works good, except there is no ceramic filter in mouth piece (should it be?)

Only beta test units have ceramic as the oven along with ceramic filter for mouthpiece.

If you purchased your imag+ then your oven will be steel. Your mouthpiece will also be slightly different.

You will enjoy your imag+ regardless.

I see the only real difference is the mp. Performance is the same IMO.

I completely agree. I got mine yesterday and have tried all sorts of techniques to get a better draw. Taking out the inbuilt screen and adding ones from my Ascent. Finer and thicker grinds, blocking and unblocking holes and the usb port. The airflow is simply terrible. I am however able to get vapor on blue and green but I feel to do so I have to act as though I'm trying to gut a ciggy in one hit. I'm not sure what to do. I was thinking about perhaps even trying to drill a tiny hole in the mouthpiece. Would that be a worthwhile decision?

Ah ok so guess I have to make that choice whether it's air or imag or phantom premium. Guessing I might have to get air just because of glass instead of imag phantom with steel

Thanks I needed that insight. So guessing air is way better because of glass mouth piece

I found some explanation for the battery cycles in the FAQ at IMAG website.
http://www.imagvape.com/faq/

"
DOD, short for the Depth of Discharge, is used to describe how deeply the battery is discharged. If we say a battery is 100% fully charged, it means the DOD of this battery is 0%, If we say the battery have delivered 30% of its energy, here are 70% energy reserved, we say the DOD of this battery is 30%. And if a battery is 100% empty, the DOD of this battery is 100%. DOD always can be treated as how much energy that the battery delivered.

Our battery lasts about 300 cycles if discharged to 100% (DOD). However, normally after 300 cycles, the battery can still be used. The only problem is the battery’s performance will be degraded.
We do not suggest fully discharge them to 100% DOD, it would shorten the cycle life of batteries.

You’d better start to recharge the battery before it wears out completely. You’d better not let it sit and charge continually after it reaches full power.

Environmental conditions, and not cycling alone, are a key ingredient to longevity, and the worst situation is keeping a fully charged battery at elevated temperatures. This is the case when running a laptop off the power grid. Under these conditions, a battery will typically last for about two years, whether cycled or not. Even more stressful is leaving a battery in a hot car, especially if exposed to the sun. When not in use, store the battery in a cool place. For long-term storage, manufacturers recommend a 40 percent charge. This allows for some self-discharge while still retaining sufficient charge to keep the protection circuit active. Finding the ideal state-of-charge is not easy; this would require a discharge with appropriate cut-off. Do not worry too much about the state-of-charge; a cool and dry place is more important than SoC."

The cloud v premium seems identical to the current image+- not the new ceramic one. Why get the cloud v premium when the imag+ is much less expensive? I just got mine and I like it quite a bit. No bad smell and no restrictive draw.

Even if you only get 300-400 cycles, for $59 you can just get a new one.

I really like my Imag+ and am not putting a mesh screen over the bowl to hopefully stop the herb from getting sucked up against the MP filter.

Still excited for my AA. I am not convinced of the quality of the Imag+ but the price was right and having used it just a couple of times I am happy with the performance.

How in the world all of you people can recommend this vaporizer is utterly beyond my comprehension

It is an absolutely useless, worthless, DANGEROUS piece of SH*T!!!!!

I got one of the new versions this week

To start off - there is no cup included so you can no longer vape wax or concentrates or liquids. I contacted relaxo to ask about this and was told they found that the vape didn't work well on concentrates/wax so they stopped including the cup.......... WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE - AND STILL SENT OUT ALL OF THE BACKORDERED IMAGS

I only bought it because it was a 3in1 - for them to just change it back to a single use vape, without telling anyone and still send out all the backordered vapes is absolutely disgusting

Everyone is going off about how good this company is - WHAT KIND OF REPUTABLE COMPANY DOES SOMETHING LIKE THAT????????????

Another thing - you don't receive a wall charger in the box - you get only a USB charger - I only have a desktop PC - I have to have my PC on, even if I otherwise don't need it on - for 3-6 hours at a time, just to keep my vape charged!!!!!!!

Anyway - onto to further, MAJOR problems

After a few uses, I took off and cleaned the screen. When I tried to put the mouthpiece back on, it wouldn't go on. I noticed the black plastic above the heating chamber had become dis-lodged, had popped out from the metal rim on one side and was causing the problem - this is in the first 24 hours of use!!

I popped it back in place and the mouthpiece screwed on, but it is no longer a snug fit and constantly rattles around!!!

I am a heavy smoker and the tiny chamber is not enough for me.. Its absolutely useless. I need around 3 chambers full to feel how I want to feel. In a rush to quickly empty and refill the chamber, I have burnt my hand on the red hot screen on the underside of the mouthpiece a number of times - again within the first 24 hours of use!!!

Another thing - because of the amount of use needed by me in particular - the outside of the vape, underneath the mouthpiece gets very hot! It has burnt my hand at least 3 or 4 times. I know not to touch it now, but I have an 8yr old daughter that I have custody of at weekends. If she was to pick this pen up after I had used it, she would certainly burn her hands, possibly quite badly

It simply is NOT SAFE!!!!!!!!!

Another thing - I was using the pen last night while sat on my couch watching TV - the pen is so hot that it burnt my couch when I put it down after using it!!!!!

This pen is EXTREMELY dangerous - it could cause fires!!!!!!!!

How the HELL have all you 'experts' not picked up on a single one of these MASSIVE, DANGEROUS problems???

YOU MAKE ME SICK - You're all giving it great reviews saying how amazing it is because they are chucking you free samples so you've got ur tails between your legs begging for something free you sad, cheap, pathetic losers

You're all so hooked up on getting something for free and the rest of you sad muppets are so hooked up on being politically correct and haven't got a single personal brain cell of your own that you just go along with the 'experts' and say how great it is

You're all laughable

The high temperatures that the outside of this vape reaches are too high for recommended safety levels. If this product was manufactured and sold within the UK it would be banned because it is dangerous!!!!!!

I have contacted the trading standards and made a complaint but I don't expect much from them

After spending hours reading reviews of this vape, I was excited and delighted to receive it

After just 24 hours I am disgusted by it, by the terrible functionality, poor performance and downright DANGEROUS safety issues

I am disgusted that so many 'knowledgeable' people can give this product such great reviews

Its is poorly designed, faulty and dangerous

DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE RIDICULOUS THINGS

Im making a youtube video detailing all of my findings

people need to know the real deal with this piece of crap, other than what you bunch of ass licking, freebie hunting morons write

mod note: You agreed to our rules when you registered. If you choose to continue posting, I'd suggest reading them during your temporary ban period.

I agree that this vape is a great value, for $59 I got something that is very portable that gives nice clouds. I have only used it a few times and only partake a couple of times a week, so one small bowl does me fine.

I think this is not geared for a heavier user. If you want something portable that is good for heavy use I would say a solo or even better the new Air.

I should also say I am a little disappointed in the company. I bought this through an Indiegogo and it was portrayed as the company itself that was hosting this. It sounded like they had a good design and a new product that was going to production but they needed some additional cash to make it happen. As it turns out this was hosted by a retailer and the company itself already had a newer design they had in production. The whole thing was a little shady in my opinion. I addressed this with the manufacturer but never heard back from them.

WizardPuff is the retailer you mentioned and they have been known to use shady selling practices, this is why they are banned from this site. The manufacture was most likely unaware of the Indiegogo offer.

Thanks for sharing guy. You're entitled to your opinion about the imag but I could not help reacting to what you wrote above. Being a parent, I make sure none of my kids get their hands on my vaporizers. My ganja and every vape I own is under lock and key. Don't matter if one vape tends to get too hot or not. They are all out of reach. No kid should have access to mind-altering substances, whether it be alcohol or ganja. To me that is being called a responsible parent. Peace

I do not have much experience in psychology, therefore not quite sure how to approach a raging person. You should share who you ordered from, before addressing your spitting fury to "the company" for sure. My V2 box does not say anywhere "3 in 1", not anymore. I am too lazy to go through the entire User Guide, but it looks revised for me as well. A USB wall charger costs about a dollar, with free postage from China, never thought this as an issue, though I believe there is a way to suggest your ideas. Because you never specified which model you are using (though you said "mouthpiece screwed on"), it is hard to reply in confidence. I only guess it is the V2 ceramic with lock-on mouthpiece, so the first thing I can state, that moving around that black ring (top closure ring) requires a considerable amount of force, to move it around. If you twist forcibly your locked-on mouthpiece further, it might dislodge that part, which I actually like as a feature, so I can keep the button and the mouthpiece "lined-up". One thing for sure, it is not easy to turn it.
The tiny chamber - as you describe it - is 8.5 mm wide, and 18 mm deep. This volume is similar, or actually larger, than most herb chambers on popular models. You make yourself "laughable" when stating it is useless, than stating you need to fill 3 chambers (hence using the useless).
Because during use the reaction requires around 200 C° I would cautiously think that the screen going to be hot right after use, sorry to hear that this was beyond your skills, and burnt yourself. Several times. Before got it.
Let me also express my personal opinion by telling you, that you should not have either a hot device, nor a knife, neither toxic chemicals (etc.) within reach AT ALL, when you have your 8 ys old daughter around! Especially when you vaping "around 3 chambers full to feel how you want to feel."
Also I call you a liar, based on your statement "burning your couch". The maximum temperature this device ever reaches INSIDE is around 200C°, even repeated, continuous usage - by avoiding the 3 min safety shut-off - the outside does not heat up enough, to burn anything, the equilibrium between the enclosure's temp and the ambient temp might settle (again, in case of unintended usage!) around a possibly unpleasant temperature to touch, but WAY less to burn anything. Putting down anything feeling hot to hands on your couch is also qualifies yourself.
The rest of your complain is pure abuse of a community, hence I conclude you either a troll, a competion, or worse: a fake complainer for refund and compensation. Either way, you should have save your time of writing this post, and save degrading yourself publicly.

wow..cant believe dudes post..I run 3 session per chamber one 1 and 1/2 on blue and 1 1/2 on blue/green and have never had the unit get anywhere near hot.. Also most places sell usb wall plugs for less than $5..1st post from that guy and goes on a rampage...and your kids should never have access to your stash or devices.. Wow..should your kid be anywhere near you while you are medicating is just beyond idiotic..

anyways on to my review..had my test unit over a month have definitely put it through its paces..no major problems or issues for me so very minor tweaking and this thing is definitely a 5 star pen for its price

Flavor-4.5 out of 5
I have only a Solo and Boss to compare the flavor too and as mentioned previously on blue setting you can get a full session of flavorful pulls the first 3-5 pulls are very tasty very comparable to the flavor my solo gives me not quite the same but very close.. Keep in mind the chamber is not large so the flavor does dissapte quickly on the higher settings ..a session on blue and then one on green gets me well medicated with only a rip or two at the end having that familiar cashed out taste.

Vapor/clouds-5 out of 5
I'm basing this off my experience and with my tweaks to the mp..I remove the ceramic insert and top the chamber with a fine mesh screen..I get solid lung filling pulls on all 3 settings I know others have had issues but for me I have had nothing but positive experiences with this unit

Function/stealth-5 out of 5
The imag is very user friendly simple one button operation other have already commented on how to load and twist on the mp and how to take it apart to clean etc... The unit bakes the load thoroughly I posted pics of the abv a few pages back..nice even deep brown abv which makes for very potent edibles
I was very hesitant to purchase this unit prior to the new mp design having carried this unit in my pocket daily for over 2 weeks only once while shoveling outside did the mp manage to work itself off from the chamber this was over about a 4 hour span of shoveling...daily activities of walking up 3 flights of stairs to my office and it had not dislodged itself, stealth is where it shines while it is larger than an ecig it fits nicely in hand and does not draw attention anymore than someone using a modbox to vape ejuice.. I have used my imag in public many times without any issue even outside on our smoking patio at work w/o anyone questioning what I was vaping..I guess if your just non chaloant about it no one will look twice, outdoors the smell disappears quickly.

Value-5 out of 5
Looking at some of the rebrands and competitors pens, like the atmos boss and orbit both priced at or above $150 the Imag is a quality built pen even at its msrp at $100 its outperforms the likes of the boss and the pax..bang for the bang ,ease of use, portability and stealth are all present in this unit..even if I did pay msrp for this unit my opinion would not differ..it may not be a perfect unit for some but there's also people who spend $400 and up on a portable that they would still tweak..the big picture here is you have a pen style vape, that produces quality, flavorful vapor, in a well bulit , nicely priced unit that you can carry with you anywhere.. If my unit eventually does go out on me I will def pick up another. It has its place and if you need a portable unit I would recommend imag to my friends

Light up the world
The cloud v premium seems identical to the current image+- not the new ceramic one. Why get the cloud v premium when the imag+ is much less expensive? I just got mine and I like it quite a bit. No bad smell and no restrictive draw.
Yea you are absolutely right. I guess it's more of since I just started vaping coming from combustion I brought my first vape which was a firefly and I stand by its side any day cloud by cloud but I wanted to know what it was like to have a vaporizer that was all glass more less so I can see how the taste and cloud compares to my firefly. Also because firefly isn't really to discrete because of the window but I have VAPED while around cops inside gas stations and they never even real is ed they did look because of its beauty but never said anything, btw I'm in a state where weed is illegal lmfao anyway so yea just wanted something a little more discreet but puffitup sold out they were selling them for 170 so guess I'll look into imag plus since it is newer than the phantom v cloud premium cause of new copper chamber and ceramic filter in mouthpiece for 69 bucks so guess I'll get that but surely isn't gonna taste like a glass I guess but will be discreet

Peace
Either Aaron had a faulty one, was a competitor trying to sabotage the company or his gluteus was hurt. On a small note you get what you pay for. (REMEMBER)?

So
Oh well, my box has arrived. Mine, and few other participants who
paid their fair share to have a fresh look on this highly anticipated beauty :)
As everyone else will probably do their best for a thorough test, let me be the
one, who takes the risk, and disassemble the device, for a better understanding.

I will explain most parts, the idea behind, the risks or downsides of use as well
as benfits and improvements of Imag Plus V2. I will have my opinion expressed on the
previously discussed open electronics as well as Chinese marketing strategies to have
a clearer picture overall to see what we really got here:

For those, who already used/using an Imag Plus V1 with the traditional PI (polyimide)
thermal film, there will be two obvious difference at first use (after you finished
"teaching" your battery, which I cannot stress how important is! See "User Guide"!)

First: the heating up time. Here the ceramic heating element is itself the chamber, as opposed to
the predecessor, where transfer of heat required, wasting energy, and time. Here it is a matter
of about 30 seconds to heat up, and only 10 sec +/- 3 sec to change, under room conditions.
I address this as a milestone in conduction vaping - embedded ceramic heater allows a much
more intense heating of the substance, this has a heavy impact on cloud density, in fact, now
the first, "blue" setting do have a good reason to be :)

The second is the considerably odour-free burn out sessions, before use. Burning out your unit is
always desirable, regardless to what make of a vaporizer you are about to try.
High end log-vapes for the enthusiast may give you the option of "use out of the box",
but these wonders of the East are designed for the dusty road, not for the connoisseurs.
Manufacturing processes are anything, but non-polluting. Couple hundreds of C° is.
Whatever reaction can be induced by heat it should be done before use, to avoid
possible by-products to be inhaled. However, no outgassing can be detected here,
nor a false scent during the very first heat up, which is promising, health-wise.
Only worth to mention the typical "factory new" smell right out of the box, which
may seem a little bit "sitting" in the entire packaging & unit, nothing obtrusive though.

Also a few to add as first impressions. I would love to see a more discreet packaging, to
be honest. I understand the cult arousing around this technology to be used with one
specific herb, and this obvious promotion of the device appears very loud on the front of
the box, in a clumsy jungle-ish environment, making it very indiscreet to be posted
through many, many hands. I am amongst the rare, whos smoking tobacco out of this unit,
and I found very uncomfortable to order a box with big Cannabis leaves on it. On a stealth vape.
Got it? :)
It is also a first impression that this company is really something emerging from the
market, as they do have a great communication practice, and delivering goods by fast
implementing user feedback gathered through relevant forums is really something speaking for itself!

Under the skin

Please do not try this at home, as you will void your warranty, and also most likely
kill your device aesthetically and practically as well. Thats my job :)

So look, what we got here. Around the cylindrical, resistor-embedded ceramic heating cup
I see an insulation consists of a black fibre material, and a few cm of a Kapton tape,
to tie it down.

A very sympathetic design element is two heat-proof silicone rubber pieces intended to
confine the insulation, to stop filaments of fibre material to pollute the path of air.
The few filaments seen around the rim are also chanceless to enter, after assembly these
elastic pieces are forced to seal off both ends of the fibre. Also, I consider every
odourless, heat-proof silicone rubber material "medical-grade" :D Thumbs up!

An obvious "leak on the boat" is a hole below the heating chamber, exposing most
electronic parts to the ventilation area. See my notes below on this specific subject.

Below notice the negligent painting on inner wall. I had this conversation earlier, I admit
loose paint can be nasty, though it's important to remain objective before considering
level of risks against paranoia. This applies very much for the open electronics "issue"
as well. As far as paint adhesion goes, there are numerous types. Bonds of polymeric coatings
to metallic substrates are amongst the strongest. In the unlikely event of a loose paint particle
falling off during inhalation, and rides a very fortunate stream to enter the chamber,
it is still a very important factor to consider: your substance filling the chamber.
And the sticky resins deposited thourough your unit. And the extra filtration.
I would add the fact, that it is highly unlikely for a carcinogenic particle to cause cancer
on contact of a body tissue, but honestly, I don't see a chance to get that far.
I like the counter-examples against overrated issues, so let me share one:
on a regular evening, before you pull off your sweater, change light conditions
to focus a beam through dark, than after getting changed, just have a look, how much dust
you see in the air. Those tiny flyers are most likely made of a polymer, and will have no
diffculties to enter your lungs :) Trust yourself! Your body have considerable steps to take
to protect you :) The upcoming carbon fibre body should eliminate this subject anyway...

To make a statement on how healthy or unhealthy is to inhale air in contact with such
items like printed circuit board, electronic components, solder material etc.:
the most important is to understand heat dissipation inside the device. The fibre
material does such a good job of absorbing heat, that the Kapton tape surrounding it does
not even heats unbearably hot for the fingers first time. After several minutes of max. heat
output I could measure around 140-155 C° at most -directly on surface, surrounding air will be
considerably cooler- this is a very desirable "comfort zone" for many plastics, adhesive resins,
and basically means nothing for materials designed specifically for heat.
This means no change in their structure, providing no reaction by-products.
Any bits getting loose or fall and entering vacuum when in use, should also be catched on the way,
during numerous filtration. A counter-example maybe? Hm.. have you ever thought of the air
pollution inside your laptop/PC/TV/etc., which evetually enters the same room where you are?

My only concern with the design, that it leaves great opportunity for foreign items to fall inside the unit;
I have a habit of using a needle to freshen tobacco during a vape session, needless to say that
recovering it was a primary reason behind this entire disassembly :)
Obvious solution is a copper strainer screen what you can install, one note on this, that you
should avoid any force insdie the chamber, as ceramic is very fragile.

To summerize the above, I think it is safe to say, that this device poses no considerable risk to health, by any means. In fact, it is a very favorable device for taking a huge leap towards
a much, much healthier approach of the good, old smoking habit!

A word on the mouthpiece: the set includes two of these, it is easy to take apart, and clean.
A piece of ceramic inside also favorable as it cools the vapor decently, also provides extra filtration,
but can be left out for better flow, or replaced with a cotton ball with a dip of menthol, or
maybe a pinch of fresh cut tobacco as an organic filter option - just great!

Allow me a final thought on the Chinese vape market, as this device will (if not already do) have
set a substructure for many upcoming units. As traditional marketing strategies typical to the East
one succesful design will get cloned and re-branded to be sold with different marketing and pricing.
These rebrands are typically differs in aesthetics, some may offer practical improvements, such as
replaceable battery, better airpath designs or useless extras and cheaper components. For your
future reference: anything may come to your way from now, which shows similarities with Imag Plus,
will be an Imag Plus - in different clothes, hairstyle and makeup. And I am pretty sure that fakes
won't be far away. Don't get fooled, take your time and do your research :) Get the Imag!
What is better the imag plus u have here or that phantom v premium from vape life will? Cause honestly don't think the premium has a ceramic heating

yesterday we test Imag using tobacco and it was quiet strange smell, something like honey.
Didn't smell like tobacco at all....well after a while we all did smell bad, but we vaporize in close room with smoke sensors
