In case you guys aren't familiar with Jeb Bush, George W's bro, you guys should be. He's supposedly the front runner for the GOP and their run for the presidential election of 2016. What's crazy is that this guy use to smoke marijuana and sell hash while going to boarding school, despite being a major obstacle currently for recreational and medical marijuana in the state of Florida. Talk about a hypocrite...

Really? He didn't do very well yesterday.

This is good news then...I read "front-runner" somewhere on Weed Blog and repeated it. Scott Walker can have my vote anyday over Bush....

I don't consider Scott Walker as "good news".. he is the most anti-union governor out there. Right wing to the max.

I'm hoping more and more usage stories keep coming out concerning politicians, statesmen, public figures using cannabis, now and in their pasts. It helps a LOT to get the message across that, hey, it didn't hurt them, right? :)

Some folks lose or never had any core beliefs and if trashing what you believe or believed in achieves their goals then they will do it. Politicians are no different and have the extra problem of the opposition looking for a dirt. Besides what is going to happen over this, I suspect nothing.

People act like just because someone used to smoke weed that means they have a moral obligation to help legalization but they dont. Anyways as a Florida resident under his governorship im going to have to go ahead and say he shouldn't even be close to becoming president.

My prediction? Jeb Bush will become the GOP nominee. It's the only way that the GOP stands a chance of winning in the general election and the reason is that his is the only candidate that can garner some of the independent votes and without the independent voters, you can't win. And being that Romney dropped out, his supporters will go over to Bush.

If there is such a thing as a moderate Republican, he very well could be the only one, other than possibly Rand Paul but the GOP base will never vote him in. Hell, even Bush is going to have a difficult time winning them over but I think he can.

So, bottom line? We have again............a Clinton versus Bush presidential election. We've been down this path before, eh?

Online poll? That is the least credible source of polling
But you are right, it's gonna be Bush (and Hillary).

Ok how about Iowa then?

Frontrunner? Iowa Republicans have little use for Jeb Bush.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...country-for-old-republican-establishment-men/

We noted Friday that Romney's unfavorable rating among likely caucus-goers was 40 percent -- a very high number, given that these are members of Romney's own party.

Well, he's not the only one. While Romney's favorable/unfavorable split is 57/40, Bush's is even worse: 46/43. And New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's image is downright bad: 36 percent favorable vs. 54 percent unfavorable. Again, this is among Republicans.

But if you're Bush -- or Christie -- these numbers have to color your strategy going forward. When about half of likely caucus-goers already have decided that they don't like you a year before the caucuses, getting them to vote for you is going to be exceedingly difficult.

Pro-Union till I die.
Ask the middle class how the killing off of organized labor worked out. If you can find any of them.
I'd rather give the power to the union boss than to corporate America. Corporations will always find a way to exploit, but the working man/woman, without a voice...yeah, they're fucked.

Rand Paul Moderate? :hmm:. I don't think so, he's a full on libertarian who's first priority would be to drastically shrink government by eliminating a lot of very important government programs. That said, he would still be the best candidate for marijuana policy among the GOP field. But who cares? GO HILLARY!!!

True that he's a libertarian but he's going to be running under the GOP banner, not under the Libertarian Party banner and as such, I think he would be viewed more as a moderate Republican than a right winged Republican, eh?

I think it's more about him supporting policy that if enforced on him, would make him ineligible for the presidency. Similar to other presidents, both past and present.

The term "libertarian" got hijacked somewhere along the way. I wouldn't consider him a libertarian, but that's what they package him as.

GO HILLARY!!!

I'm holding my breath for a Warren/Sanders ticket.

Careful. That can cause brain damage, especially when holding your breath for that ticket

All I know is I am sick of both the Clinton and Bush families. Haven't we had enough? Unfortunately I doubt the current system is capable of producing anything much better. Count me a cynic I guess.

And I have no doubt that Chelsea is going to get into politics. The grooming has already begun.

I like that ticket as well, but probably an unelectable ticket IMO. Bernie would be painted as a far left...dare I say socialist by the GOP opposition. The ability to court the ever so important independent voter would be severely diminished. Definitely a populist ticket that would get the left of the Democratic Party fired up. Power to the people!!

Deleted post -- because I can't solve these problems anyway and I just get angrier and angrier for it.

Whatever party you politicians are in, you are killing a great nation and ruining lives of the people you are in office to represent.
People, quit letting them divide us with our personal beliefs while they rape, rob, and pillage America.

I know. Even the DNC is scared of that one. They're two of the handful of politicians that aren't bought and paid for. Mitt Romney could make it into the office before either one of them do. I can hope though...

Definitely a populist ticket tomes the left of the Democratic Party fired up.

It could be argued that they are true libertarians, lol.

A fellow I met knew 'some people didn't smoke pot' Dan Quayle at Yale and told me Quayle was a well known dealer in those days. The hypocrisy of these people is breathtaking.

I really doubt that, given the progress in legalization today that anyone's experience with MJ is going have a huge influence on their electability. So I don't think this will hurt Bush. I think it is too late for that. Especially since he claims he doesn't do it anymore.

I'm holding my breath for a Warren/Sanders ticket.

I like both of these people, but they are unelectable at the presidential level in America today

There is a really good reason for this. Sanders IS a socialist. He admits it readily and runs on that platform.

We need to remember that Retuglican politics is "follow the money" politics today, and they aren't even shy about it. The Koch brothers, for example, have promised to spend $900M on this next election, and their favorite candidate seems to be Scott Walker. He is "conservative" enough for most of the party and has none of the bad historical positions of the other likely candidates, like Bush's history on immigration and education (Common Core). And he has been very effective in destroying union influence and power.

At this moment, Walker may be Hillary's greatest danger. He is also less likely than most of the other retugs to say something stupid like Jindal Cruz and Paul seem to do quite often.
