The Lotus Vaporizer

I figure worst case scenario I can sell it to a friend or someone here and grab a hand carved VaporGenie. I'll just have to figure out a reliable way to mate it with a water pipe.

Been there, done that. Hooking my genie up to water proved to be a real pain and my best hits were off a ghetto rig with plastic and shit. Just couldn't get it working with a clean, glass path. It's one of the reasons I love the Lotus so much. Out of the box it does everything the Genie does, but better, and it's a perfect fit for my entire glass collection. I broke it out again this week and was yet again very impressed with the efficiency, speed of heat up and force of the hit. I'm not a Jedi with it yet, so I don't get the best flavor (I tend to push the limits and get hot hits), but when I use it I think 'who cares?' To get this kind of performance for this kind of price is just ridiculous.

Take it from a guy who owns both...Lotus runs circles around vapor genie. I loved my Sherlock genie the most out of all the models, but the Lotus is way too easy with the WPA, so that's my go-to.

Did your Lotus come with a lighter, and if so why not that one?

That's what I've been using, its consistent, works fine, and is pocketable if you keep the tab to lock the button. Honestly requires enough force that i don't have mine locked, but I do have the flameguard on.

Idk if it classifies as a torch or a lighter, but it uses butane and its a "torch" flame....though it operates just like a lighter.

It did. This is my second (accidentally hit the Canadian border the day after getting my first... it was tragic). This one came with a half working lighter so I got some replacements. Mainly for looks and fear of the stock ones breaking; the stock lighters look cheap and breakable imo. They are actually my favorite of the lighters i've tried, wjich is kinda sad...

As for the j-hook - I bought a $10 china glass j-hook which my roommates broke before i used it. So don't go that route. I was given a grav labs hook and it's pretty solid. Would probably break if it were dropped a few feet onto cement however. The j-hooks have amazing airflow, but I dislike that I can't place the vape down flat. They look equally classy imo. If I were going out and about I would opt for the aluminum one. It's what I usually end up using.

I'll post a pict of the stirrer mod I did tomorrow. Or maybe tonight. I left my stir stick on because i'm not using much glass right now and it reaches the corners better. But it's pretty neat imo. :)

Lotus arrives today! Too bad my 19mm-14mm reducers haven't arrived yet.

Lotus got here. Can't seem to find any triple-filtered butane around me though. Hardware stores near me (True Value and Home Depot) only seem to have regular butane. Any help?

Found a can of Xikar at a local cigar shop! Impressions incoming.

I use whatever butane I can find. Never had an issue with the torch in the kit (yet)

Took me a few hits to get proper vapor. First hit was massive and got me extremely medicated. It's important to get the "red dot" of heat. Flavor is great, no butane taste at all from my v3. Taste is out of sight and comparable to my E-Nano, though there is definitely something different about it (metal stem maybe?). WPA is extremely well-designed. Right now I'm getting used to vapor production and packing.

The bowl is massive. When I pack my E-Nano it's a hit or two at a time. This seems like it could actually sustain a group session. How many hits can a full bowl last? I'd try it, but this indica would probably put me into a light coma.

Maybe it's the long-stem or maybe it's because it's 18F outside, but the Lotus has the coolest dry vapor I've yet to try.

The bowl is big, but in reality, less is more with this vape. I use just enough to cover the screen - maybe 0.05g - or about 1 scoop from the metal scoop sold by MT - for a large bowl, I use two scoops, and never more (performance and taste are compromised)

I typically finish a load in 3 hits

I'll pretty much never be packing more than a hit at a time when I'm by myself. Will be nice when I am with other folk though. That's why I'm trying to get a sense of how long a full bowl goes.

It's no regular bowl, but, yes, compared to a log vape it is massive. I'm curious how efficient it is with larger loads.

Yeah, it's not very efficient with larger loads.

Sure you can get a bit more vapor density with a larger load, but you'll find your load is less evenly cooked with "fully loaded" bowls.

I find a small loose pack is the most efficient way to use this vape.

That's funny you guys thingk the bowl is massive. Maybe compared to a log vape, but I consider this to be one of the smaller bowls in my lineup, which is why it is so efficient for the way I use it. Perspective, I guess!
That's exactly what I was thinking. It is pretty much is my only vape getting any use right now because it has the smallest bowl and is helping me cut back. But this really makes me want to get an enano even more lol.

It's not a huge bowl, that's a fact.. but it does the job more than fine. Moreover, i find the adapter bowl a bit bigger than the stem one. And of course, the glass bong that I've bought has taken my "medication"(I really liked it like that :p) to another level!!

Do u guys have a suggestion where to look for either a glass pipe or a J-hook? Bong is nice but lacks in mobility..

Ya that's what I have been using too. Was hoping someone might have an idea that was a little more elegant. But the toothpick definitely works.

I've been using toothpick as well. But I tend to break or loose it with time use. It is fine though..

Lately I always have a paper clip. It is finer and easier to use then the Lotus plate pick. You get the small bits out more easily and it is super to take of the screen as well. Plus it can be magnetized if using the al-stem !

The replacement plate I got back in late september died today, after 4.5 months of heavy HEAVY use. No noticable cracks, but loads are scorching waaay too easy. I roast upwards of 15 or more bowls a day, so i wasnt expecting the plate to last forever. Oh well, I have a back up already installed.

Look on grasscity, they sell the same gravlab j hook, slightly less expensive than lotus site 16USD, it fits very well with a blackleaf spiral ash catcher ( http://www.blackleaf.de/index.php/black-leaf-vorkuhler-mit-kuhlspirale.html ). When it is in combo with grav lab j hook it stand by itsels even without water inside and it is very nice

I am considering purchasing this Vaporizer because I have heard it works efficiently and is very easy to keep clean. Now, to be honest, I have not read all responses posted here in this thread as of yet but I do enjoy having toys and choices when partaking in my "Favorite Herb." I am new here to this Website and have been enjoying the topics, and corresponding threads, and of course the bantering amongst members/friends.....

I am older(decades have gone by with my hair and beard turning gray and the wearing of bifocals a must)and am not completely sold on using only Vaporizers. For over forty years I have put the flame to the 'dried herb' through many types of devises(we used to go to the Hardware stores back in the very early 70's to create implements made out of solid brass)and have baked some mean Brownies and thoroughly enjoyed the taste. Now I not saying you do not experience taste when vaporizing but the taste(or lack of)is totally a different experience.....

Is it just me or have others felt the same way, I have found the experience of using combustion seem to "effect me" much quicker over vaporizing. Of course being a 'Newbie' maybe I have not made the most educated research as to which 'Devices' work quicker and better over others...I own only portable vaporizers so far and they include a MFLB, Sonic and just a couple of weeks ago I picked up the Atmos-Boss(which works very well for a Pen Type Vaporizer). And now I have my mind and wallet set on purchasing the Lotus Vaporizer.....

As many here have mentioned by going to a full service Cigar Shop you can find many types and styles of "Torch Lighters." And they all will carry triple filtered Butane which of course is the, "only way to fly." And let me mention...while there pick up a Cigar or two to smoke and check out. The selection is usually excellent in a specialty shop and they will have cigars ranging from a couple dollars a piece to up to hundreds per Cigar. Again, the name of the game is the taste of the smoke and many will have a lounge so you can sit with friends and talk!!!

Take care.....Frodo(time to slip the "Ring" back on)!!!

Any vapourizer that works will have vastly superior taste to anything that burns your cannabis. The nasty toxins in smoke don't just cause a host of medical problems, they taste awful too. If you browse more around FC, you will find many posts that advise against continuing to smoke if you want to get the full benefits of vapourizing. Your problem isn't your choice of devices, it's the confusion caused by the removal of the toxins in smoke. Once your brain gets used to not getting the effects of ghastly stuff like carbon monoxide, you will be able to detect the onset of vapour much more readily. Stop smoking completely for a week or two and I think your opinion will change. For context, I smoked almost daily for over 40 years before I switched to vapour. I can't stomach smoke now, and I think that feeling is almost unanimous among those of us who have switched.

OB topic: although I've never tried a Lotus, I think the form factor and the use of a torch would be quite familiar and reassuring to a long-time smoker.

I can assure you the vapor quality and density of the Lotus blows your present stable of portables out of the water. There is a very slight learning curve, but it is an excellent purchase if you want an indestructible portable with stellar vapor and no batteries.

I decided to replace my plate on my original maple Lotus, as it's been a long time. The old plate had had it.

I figured I would rub a little oil into it just to see what it would do. I had a choice between Coconut oil and Argan oil...and went with Argan. For what it's worth, I recommend everybody do this. My lotus was looking old and haggard, because I'd used it to death. The oil added a richness to the cap. It does darken the wood slightly, so people that like the Lotus a lighter maple color, avoid. Otherwise, I like the change.
