Has anyone tried both the gb-186 and the original piece it was destined to mimick? If so, how do they compare?

Gb 186 has very good functionality, it really can't be beat as far as a value proposition goes.

I still prefer my ion though.
Möbius has waaaaay better construction/workmanship, the perc looks nicer, functions better, it's all around a nicer piece.

Purely speaking in terms of function, the möbius ion is nicer, it percs a bit more smoothly, and has slightly smaller bubbles because of that, but it's def not 10x better function...

If it means anything to ya I sold off my gb 186 and kept my ion.

Wait, is the 186 the ion clone or the stereo matrix?

Well, I used to own a 60t, and I have both the 186 & 187...

I actually prefer the function of the china stereo matrix, but I think that's to do with the bubbler form factor.

Pretty much all the points above apply to both of the pieces -
The china ones are great, function well, and are the best in terms of value.
The möbius ones are fucking awesome and are the best in terms of everything except for value.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking. I don't doubt that the Mobius pieces are much higher quality overall, but how much better can a piece be to make up for costing a few hundred dollars extra?

The gb-186 is the stereo matrix 65b, btw.

hey for anyone with a 60b, or i guess 60t. got mine recently and found that the two percs are not perfectly vertical. I find one of them to be a little slanted? Is that normal? are all of yours perfectly vertical? Still seems to hit fine, but still ....

I would expect that from knockoff China glass like this, but not from Mobius. I hope someone didn't pull a fast one.:ninja:

I've gotta agree with @DieHard

I used to have a 60t, and te construction o it was perfect.

I've got a knockoff 60b and it percs are a bit crooked.

It probably won't affect te function of the piece too much, but honestly, for the price you pay for möbius, it should be perfect.

If it's genuine, all the logos should be laser etched into the glass. If it feels like a flat sticker than it's likely from China.

If I may be pedantic (;)) I believe the logos are sandblasted, not laser etched...

But yes afaik möbius only do sandblasted labels.
None of that paint/sticker stuff that most other labels are made from (it amazes me more high end American glass companies don't sandblast their labels. Looks way more classy IMO. Looking at you sovereignty )

Looking at my Clear, the big Mobius logo is etched in, the others looks to be sandblasted.

well I def think its a legit version got it from an authorized mobius east coast guy. Took some pics for you guys, some from when I just got it but percs present. Tried to focus in on the percs can see the top one is slightly tilted towards the front/downstem of the piece.

Let me know what you guys think :

Loving the clear matrix there - that's my highlander bong - "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!"

I didn't notice the lean in the first pic, but it's definitely noticeable from the 2nd pic.

It's a relatively small defect, it shouldn't affect function, and it doesn't look like it's too noticeable unless you're looking for it.

If it really bugs you, id contact the seller and try to arrange a replacement or refund.

If it doesn't bother you aesthetically, and the function isn't compromised (I'd be surprised if it was), then just keep it an enjoy some bitchin glass.
Maybe still contact the seller just to let them know some of their stock may not be perfect.
If they're particularly good you might get a partial refund or a discount on your next purchase...

thanks man appreciate the response...actually makes me feel a bit better knowing that its so minor, I looked at some pics on instagram and seen some other pieces with similar slant on upper perc....Like I said if i was in the store myself and got to pic it out...would have probably been a different story or at least I would have gotten to ask about it. Now its a month past but i'm still going to bring it up with the guy i guess...although i bet hes not going to do anything about it.

Was pretty pumped to post the side by side mobius pieces. Love his damn work. However seems like he is only concentrating on rigs now and no more flower pieces. All the new line are smaller pieces compared to the 60's and the clear matrix bubblers. I love me my flowers

Once again thanks for the reply

I don't know of anywhere other than ALT that sells mobius slides, but I just checked and they're all out of stock ATM...
aqualabtechnologies.com/scientific-glass/mobius-glassworks.html?dir=asc&order=price

If you're gonna get a cheapie, why get a counterfeit?

The mobius bowl I originally got was from yingmin's GB-187, it's very nice, but I just can't find it right now- heh, and when I can't find/or feel I no longer have something of value, my first reaction is to replace it xD.

never said anything about wanting any 'cheapie' or 'counterfeit'. Seeing how the bowl is over 2 years old, I assumed the bowl was floating around moreso on iOffer and DHgate than I thought; however, I already got a suitable response from yingmin. Now anything Roor, Mobius, etc. from DHgate is rarely authentic, or considered to be not a 'counterfeit'; in the end though, it comes down to the quality of the glass and amount of work gone into each piece's weld.
