Before he went down in history as one of the greatest film directors of all time, 17-year-old Stanley Kubrick was known for something else – New York City subway photography. Over two weeks in 1946, Kubrick worked for LOOK magazine to capture the everyday lives and intimate moments of the people of a bygone era.

While working for LOOK, Kubrick completed 129 assignments for a total of 15,000 photos. His photos captured the mundane and everyday side of an era often heavily romanticized in the U.S., giving us a closer and more identifiable look at their lives. They commuted just like us!

I have CNN's front page set up as my home page so this is the very first image that I saw this morning :o.

But please don't follow this up with any more catastrophic pics. I know this is supposed to be a feel good thread but this is the very first thing I saw this morning so I posted it up, but I will delete it if anyone suggests that I do.

Imo, this isn't just a "feel good" thread... it's a pictorial representation of life. So the above is appropriate. And I don't see anywhere that says it's got to be all feel good stuff.... But I agree; let's not venture down this path with a bunch of follow up posts.

So I'll follow with greeting from snowy Michigan!!!! A little snow never slows us down much.
