Everyone asks about the Hercules black vs white rods with oil, who's tried a comparison between the rods with flower? Anyone use a screen for flower or just take the coils out and roll with it?

will try that when i get home from work tomorrow. My new kiss cart should be here today so i may justfully clean then put the sr74x away & order all the spare parts so i have extras when the kiss breaks again.
very interested in doing this as a temp. fix did you just squeeze down in the middle w. the rod extended fully ?
yea i pulled the spring loaded bit out of the tube pulled out the extention arm and crimped the lower section i will say it makes putting it back in the tube alot tighter but it worked

I experimented with herc sr-71 + flower all week. It was interesting, it certainly is a little more work than vaping oil you have to be very touchy on the heat to not burn, it's a very fine line between combustion and burning. I just took out the coils and poured finely ground flower all around the rod, no screen or anything was necessary and in fact would have probably hindered usefulness. I definitely left the oil screen in the MP though, helped prevent chunks in the mouth. If you have some, add oil to the flowers it will make it go a much longer way and also just vapes so much better, the ground flowers turn into what would normally be the coils and soak up all that oil and just let it all vape so smooth and nice. I unfortunately didn't have much oil to add so I was just vaping dry flowers mostly, and my results were mixed. A little moisture in the flowers definitely will help too, I think my stuff was too dry.
I have not used the black rod so I can't comment on it's usefulness in this procedure. It might work a little a better because it heats up much slower, yes? Which is the problem I was having with the sr-71 @ 6.4v on the core, I would jump right into combustion without even noticing it having started to vape. It would be a long slow warm up with the black rod I suspect but once you get it going then it would be easier to maintain the proper temperature.... well it's all theoretical until someone posts results!

Before you crimp it, you can try lowering your ceramic heating rod to compress the spring completely, leaving no room for oil between connections, save for that one friend who knows how to drown your shit. My gold connector is discolored from being torched, spring doesnt return, still fires just like new.

Same here, my friend. When the SR-74 option came about, I chose to keep my original SR-71's because they're completely user serviceable. Not to mention they're a bit more powerful than the 74 as well.

Please heed @bdmonkeyj3w words of wisdom; adjust the rod down further instead of intentionally damaging your parts. I've had my SR74 had been drowned in a pool of oil, center pin not springing up, 6 weeks since I cleaned it, and it still worked fine since the rod position had been set by a test-fit (leave the rod out further then it should be, leave the retaining collar slightly loose so the rod can slide, assemble the herc. The rod slides up as much as it has to, but no more. Take it apart, tighten it up, reassemble)

Just got 7.4 kiss cart, after 5 days on 2 day shipping... least conservative tool i own besides a torch and nail. Fabulous. do the 7.4 carta not come with black ceramic?

I tried that but I didn't work properly still. Ended up just crimping it which I must say broke it immediately. But I just ripped the spring out (it wasn't seared properly it turns out and was all mangled up) then put the post back in & now it's flat enough that it gets stuck at the top of the tube which allows the rod to make a solid connection
That didn't work for me. I ended up just breaking it & putting it together my way. Works now & should hold up until I decide to get a new gold piece. My kiss cart cane in today though so I plan on mainly using that for now.

So first thing i did with my black rod 74 was flower with no ti. Gross. Had to clean and reassemble immediately. Tried 1 ti with oil and some herb on top, was ok, got more flower flavor but still didnt vape herb well. Realized i no longer like herb. all herb turns to concentrates in my possession now. i really wanted the herc to run herb and oil, but i came to a point where herb was unappealing and stopped messing with it in herc.
Never tried herb in my Herc. Herc for me also, gets made into shatter. Although I still like to vape a load in my Solo.

Ill load the decade old volcano if i have an insistant guest, but i really try to stick to my oil. I know its clean, i trust the solvents i use, and its soooooo much tastier. Even volcano makes me feel like im inhaling debris.
Not sure if I mentioned this but the Kiss Alpha Centauri will go into production in 2 weeks. Stay tuned for more information like price and other things. The final version is not going to be what the price is listed on the site because of what the finished product is but I'm confident you guys are going to love it.

You'll need a stainless steel tube cutter. Make sure you leave in the mp while cutting (helps keep the round shape). Apply minimum pressure, cut slowly. I use this one:

The kiss mini mod in the Okeanos is a badass mod!! I recently did this after reading @Nube Scrutator success. It works well and is IMO smoother than a kiss cart. Not to mention I can load more into the kiss mini.
