Do you have the PA? Has your box been used alot?

My older one doesn't get quite as warm as quick as my newer one, but it basically works the same. I figure its due to buildup inside.

If you are just using batteries its very possible its your batteries not the box not running hot.

Yep, I am all hooked up now with a PA and WA. The 2700's are kicking great and the C9000 is keeping them in top shape. Thanks to your advise and video I upgraded from the LaCross BC 9009. I love the charger makes the battery component of the MLB a non issue.

Today I received what I thought was a genuine MFLB, that I purchased off a seller on Amazon (LINK). They made the claim it was the new 2011 "click lock" model. It arrived today. Tin looks legit. Charger looks legit, batteries. Build quality appears to be very high, on par with what I've read and seen in pictures. Every feature described on MF.com website is exact (with the exception of the "2011 lid locking mechanism", which is actually nice and works quite well). Did a quick charge on the batteries (they were done in 15 minutes), filled the trench, pushed in the battery (which also according to MF reps, felt exactly as they said it would, with the spacer in there). About 4 seconds, vapor forming. Wasn't used to the draw rate versus my VG Bat, so got a pretty harsh hit. But, about 30 seconds later, my medicinal Green Dragon had punched me in the head with the OMG I'M @%#&$%! BLASTED, feeling. Needless to say I was quite pleased. Could even see the little LED light up in front of the trench.

It even performs exactly as wiki entry explains. Incredibly efficient. Very little visible vapor on exhale, but 30 seconds later... it hits you like a rock.

But when I was looking into more about the method to this delicious madness, I kept reading about serial numbers, beta testers needing them, warranty work... now I'm completely bummed out. I paid $119 for a knock-off? I don't care that it works as advertised. Its not the real thing. And what really gets me, is I'm typically highly anal about checking every angle. I'll research everything, until I'm positive that's what I want. How could I miss something so easy?

Anyways, I'm attaching a picture (it also appears to be inferior wood... pine versus ash) of where the serial number should be and also asking members and the manufacturer, what I should do? I'm assuming the seller knows, he's moving a knock-off, even though he references the manufacturer as Magic Flight.

No. Absolutely no evidence of it being sanded off. Another thing, while checking out seller info on Amazon, I clicked directly on the link, form my cart. It took me to the exact same sales page, but the seller shows up as Just Vaporize (which does have a storefront on Amazon), fulfilled by Amazon. Yet, my order was billed to and fulfilled by CT Power Tools (which doesn't have a storefront).

I also read through some feedback and found a post from someone, noting the absence of the serial number. They said it appeared on theirs to be sanded off (though I say you would have to remove too much wood to remove a burned serial). The sellers response didn't really address it, but said Magic-Flight honors ALL warranty work. Well, yeah... sure they do... if its their product.

Looks to me, like there's a big scam going on.

Yes it will; however, it is especially helpful if people let us know where they bought the Box and what serial number they have, even if you have had no problems with it. If you elect to buy from Ebay, please let us know the details via email -- the feedback is both important and helpful.

One important exception is that units which do not have serial numbers cannot be warrantied. There have been some complaints about eBay vendors selling illegitimate Launch Boxes without serial numbers. In such cases, we strongly recommend that use the eBay buyer protection programs to get their money back.

a user on these boards sanded the entire quote off the back (minus the serial) and it came off very easily with little sanding needed.

I used a photo a GIMP program to isolate the photo, and I am seeing traces of a serial number.

You're right. It certainly looks like it. Man, I looked it over, several times and I didn't see that. When I have a bit more privacy, I'll take a lot more pics.

Get out in direct sunlight with a magnifying glass.. the sun should tell.....
I find some pretty amazing things peeling layers off with GIMP.

Yeah, I fired up GIMP and checked it myself. There's most definitely a 2 and what appears to be (2) 5's.

Definately a sanded-off serial number. I would be a little suprised if someone managed to make knock-offs (tin, charger and all) for resale. It would just be too much work and would be discovered pretty quickly. Word travels fast on the Interwebs.

OK... maybe I'm just to baked... err vaped, to catch on. Honestly, I'm smarter than this.

But, what is the purpose? Are they selling RMAs? and if they are... how would Magic-Flight know (forcing the serial number deletion), unless it was RMA'd thru them? But, then that would mean, they have knowledge of this. Now, I'm certainly not suggesting, I believe this. They come across as very reputable and from the posts I've read here... very interactive with the public. So that could be contrary to their nature, to scam people like that.

I suppose I can take some comfort in realizing its the real deal (I also reexamined the wood. It is indeed ash). But, I'm screwed if it needs warranty work.

Just got my MAHA C-9000 charger in today! I'm running the 36-hour break in cycle on all 4 of my new PowereX 2700's!

Look in the bag again, and in the brown paper... The ring can get knocked off if you unwrapped hastily.
If you have a battery pushback ring (a spare) it is the same.

Do the PA come with a warranty? mine suddenly stopped working 1hr ago i have the car adapter as well as two wall adapters and i checked them all no current (and i left my powerex home damn lol)
If they do have a warranty policy for the PA is it done directly through MF or Blissville and is it similar to the launch box procedure(ie new unit sent first)

Please recheck the connection at the unit. That sometimes needs to be plugged back in tighter.

Honestly, I took one look at that zoomed in image of where the serial number should be on your box, and felt like i could almost decipher all of it myself, even through a blurry image over a computer screen.. in real life, perhaps out in the sun or under magnification I sure hope you can make out the serial number! And if it's really just not clear enough or one or two numbers are sanded off entirely, perhaps if the box needed warranty you could send it to Magic Flight and see if they could discover the serial number. Couldn't hurt to email them about it in the case that your box does need warranty work/replacement. But may your current box launch long and prosper!

dam i was on ebay 2 weks ago and i saw some MFLB that looked like knockoff.
i wish i saved a pic.
it said magic flight under the plexiglass lid in the wood where the MFLB symbol should be.

with there track record they will fix you.

Here's a picture of the topside for you guys. Note the ball-bearing click-lock. Which actually works pretty well. I'm wondering if they make this mod, then sand the serial. For what reason... is beyond my comprehension, at this moment.

I'm in contact with MF right now, concerning the issue. I'll keep you all up-to-date.

That looks like new version of the MFLB... I believe you have a legit MFLB, just the seller for some CRAZY reason sanded off the serial numbers.
