Zephyr Ion

It really depended on the temperature and how much we used. If I use it on 375 then 420 with a quarter full bowl I get two good bags with the Zephyr. 475 just milks it.

I haven't had much hands on time with the original volcano as the owner likes to operate it, so I couldn't tell you what he was doing. I not even sure what temperature he had it on, sorry.

I can really only compare flavor, and smoothness.

thanks, what was your bag fill time with the Zephyr?

Feel like I'm failing at this review lol

Fill time? Once I turn on the Zephyr it could take one to two minuets too heat up. Once it hits about 300 going to 440 only takes a few seconds.

Once I turn on the air it takes about 15 to 30 seconds to fill the bag.

I've never actually timed it so I'm going off my perception of time.

The reason I'm asking is that I have a used one and I'm curious how it compares to a new Zephyr

Well, one thing that I heard a lot that night, which I would have to agree with is. "Its pretty much the same". As far as flavor, consistency of the vaped meds color wise, and smoothness of the bags. It was pretty much the same.

As far as temperatures, heat times, fill times, and amount of meds, I wasn't paying much attention to on the volcano side. I could fill those two bags pretty fast though.

It's super easy to clean too. They give you a bunch of bags. I was eyeing that 6 foot party bag.

It's plastic, but it feels very solid. I've been told it looks like a blender base. Which is good I guess.

I just filled the bowl half way with some better quality meds, got two good bags at 375F and milked another great bag at 440F. So 3 good bags out of one bowl.

Edit: when I say good, I mean thick cloudy vapor. The way I like it.

The volcano's supposed to be the best, how does the ion's vapor/experience compare?

You're gonna love it, @grokit !
I owned the first Volcano (heating element died) and when i saw this I had to try it. Good: Nice taste, easy to clean, easy to replace bags, handles the herb well, works well (especially once you figure out how to stop the top o-ring from popping out- angle the screen downwards). I love the temperature control. Love the mouthpiece (especially when compared to the Volcano). Bad: Fills bags much more slowly than the volcano, does not completely shut off when you turn the power off (the LED panel still glows red when it's powered off, I have no idea why that's a good idea), and some sketchy sales and service (filled out a form on their website for a free whip, disappeared into the ether, never got a reply). The box I got a couple of months ago looked like it had been sitting on a shelf for a LONG time- but it works just fine. It's well built, and I like it better than the Volcano, especially the base model.

I got a tracking number on Monday,
just a few hours after I placed the order.
It's still dead finally tracked on Friday !

I miss my Ion. Nothing has ever gotten me as consistently high in a short amount of time.

Being that you are an LSV owner, I find that kind of odd. The LSV is my daily driver as well but I don't miss my Ion at all.

I guess there's something said for sipping on a bag of consistently vaped herbs.

I have the lotus, which I use with pipes and bongs. But the ability to just turn off the vape, bring the bag to my bed, and just leave it on my night stand with out having to worry about clean up after, is a big plus for me. Having kids I can't just leave my meds laying around.

I think just separating the herbs from the vaporizer is a big plus. Plus the Zephyr is a power house.

The Ion with a full basket would put anyone on their ass I'm pretty sure. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the LSV is weak or anything, but there's a big difference between taking a lung full of incredibly thick vapor with zero resistance or effort vs. the LSV where you're inhaling probably ~3-4 seconds of air, then whispy vapor, then finally thick vapor. Much easier to get stupidly high with the Ion than the LSV. Definitely don't miss it as a daily driver, but for those times when you want to pack a bowl full, throw some hash, kief, and wax on top, and get so high you can hardly see straight...the Ion does that well.

We must be using different LSVs because I have never had a wispy hit out of mine. I have an Ion and a Volcano and though they are fine, theres no comparison hit for hit with the LSV. Sucking vapor out of a bag isnt even close to hitting the LSV with an all glass vapor path through the WPA and a bubbler. No offense intended.

I totally agree with you. I've NEVER had a wispy hit from the LSV. The vapor to air ratio at any given temp is soon much higher than any bag vape can offer up be it the Ion or any other bag vape.

You say you are inhaling 3 to 4 seconds of air with the LSV? How in the hell are you hitting it?

I'm not here to rag on the Ion, but rather to clarify the differences between the LSV and the Ion.

This is the Ion thread and I really don't want to take this off topic but when someone draws a comparison to another vaporizer, I think I need to put my perspective out there on it.

The Ion is a nice vape but vapes that use a bag as a delivery system are not for everyone. They have their pluses, but they also have their minuses and those minuses is what keeps me away from them.
