Open Source Glass Thread

My FC-710 Diffusion Pump arrived yesterday! The piece looks perfect with no defects, probably the nicest one I've gotten from China so far. Comparing it to the original, it's slightly less refined in a few minor ways but otherwise functions and feels exactly the same as far as I can tell. I think I actually prefer the mouthpiece and neck on on this one as well as the slightly wider base which makes it less tippy. I'll take some pictures of them side by side later, but the general dimensions are the same for the most part. I'll try to get a full review up later after I've had time to properly test it out.

Okay. So last night I dabbed out harder than I ever have. Here are my initial thoughts on the diffusion pump. I LOVE IT. Holy shit I can't wrap my head around the fact that this is from China. The flavor is off the charts and its very cooled. The glass bead functions perfectly and it is mesmerizing to watch the bubbles flow up. I'm so in love with this piece. I'll try to post some high quality pics and videos later.

FC-710 is here! Anyone want to compare sizes? I measure 8.5" to top of mouth and 6"ish to top of male joint. I agree its the best looking piece ive gotten from China. Would recommend 10/10!

I honestly had thrown this piece up not to suggest it as-is (it's a bit pricey any way), but more to explore the concept. Thank you for the function video, as it confirmed what I suspected which is that it doesn't vortex. Looking at the angle at which the three drain tubes come together I completely understand why. I really love the concept though and don't see why it couldn't be pretty easily re-engineered to vortex properly. I, for one, think three vortexes draining simultaneously in an incycler would be about the most badass piece I can think of Anyone else??

Yeah thank god for credit cards. I'm a bit of an impulse buyer haha.

No vortex is cool with me. Obviously if Steven makes one and it's better I'll definitely get it and sell this 52glassware one (if it even comes lol).

It says you should receive an email shortly after placing your order that confirms your order.

I'm thinking I'll give it a week but if I see the charge show up on my card and I haven't gotten an email from them I'll definitely be shooting them a message.

I hope this doesn't turn into one of those "fuck, now I have to call my bank and convince them I never received the items I paid for and to please cancel the sellers payment."

So should the open end of the tube be above or below water? It cant actually be under without splashing so im hoping that doesnt matter. Also should water be cold or warm or room temp? Thanks!

Yup, still waiting to hear anything at all about my order, or see any movement in my bank account. It could just be an empty website with nobody manning it anymore... I guess time will tell.

I find a good water level is at the bottom of the slant of the tube opening, maybe a bit higher depending on how much splash there is. Temp is a matter of personal preference, I refill my pieces every few days so it's usually room temperature anyway.

Oh man the wait could not be any longer now that I'm hearing the rave reviews of the fc-710, might have to escape the forums for a few days until I get mine out of envy haha, damnit @grdwaste ! I almost thought that I had a package on my doorstep today until I walked up and realized what I thoguht was the box was actually just part of my house :/

Huh... maybe I'm just but what's the purpose of the other canister/female joint on the base? I can't seem to figure out what it's supposed to hold...

The mouthpiece, or you could put your dabber there while in use.

But... why would you want to put the mouthpiece on the base? And if it was for a dabber, wouldn't you want it deeper and without the blown joint?? I mean sure, sure. Those are perfectly acceptable answers but ...still.

Just for storage is my guess. I know my sidearm bubblers can get in the way with all my other pieces cluttering up. Damn you affordable China pieces!!!

Same size here.

Mine has 2 flaws, a crack in the base (no leak) and the end of the perc is cut very ugly and rough.

Other than that It's all good, works well and for a good while to come will likely be the main go to home unit with the e-nail on it.

I actually like the sound of the ball jingling in there.

Oof it finally got to canada and now I gotta wait out my weekend while it's in richmond less than an hour away :/ , the temptation/anticipation that I hopefully receive a good unit too, aww jeeeeez!

So after a long wait my fc-710 landed today! I think people are going to be surprised in how fast the clear is, and how hard you can pull with the piece. Initial impressions off my first dab before I go to the dispensary- amazing flavor savor, most likely going to be my best flavor piece that isnt a 10mm (although as soon as I dabbed it on there, I had the idea go through my head that this is about the same chamber capacity and clear as my 10mm rigs (got a GGirl 10mm swing rig and a worked mini 10mm that is about maybe a half inch or inch taller than a bic) and it actually hits like one too! You still get some recycling action going on (more if you pull slower) of a classic recycling rig and a little bit of chug as a result if you pull normally, but the vapor just travels through the tube so quickly you wouldn't imagine. This I see as the biggest factor in why I really like this rig, it functions like a mashup 10mm chamber size/ 14mm recycling monster, and also as an added benefit weighs much more than all my other pieces due to how much water you put into it- an added plus for an enail user or handsfree use. I really can't emphasize enough how quickly the vapor travels through this tube at a normal pulling speed, it's really like you're hitting a 4" rig.
Edit: ill have to throw up a slo-mo vid of a dab just for you guys to get the idea later on. Also, on my point of how hard you can pull, this just leaves me with a really easy piece to pass to friends, if they pull too hard all they are going to get is additional vapor instead of me having to explain to them how hard to pull on a piece.
Edit2: also RIP initial bates innovation, this thing works just the same as far as I can tell from various youtube videos and such, and could even go to the length of using one at my dab bar if i really want to compare the two, however I feel like this is nearly completely accurate to the original and for a tenth of the price it's just great. Also good to mention is that my piece is constructed perfectly with no scratches or anything, solid 10/10 for chinese prodo (which is crazy it being a prototype) but my dome is a little off on the fitting, it will fit some of my 14mm rigs airtight, but not the actual diffy pump (not quite airtight). In my eyes this doesn't affect me at all as I have no intention of using the piece with that dome- if I'm on the go I have a domeless, so your mileage may vary.

Thanks for putting the time in to review! I think the fc710 is the best value in glass for concentrates.

I just got off the phone with U.S.P.S. because they lost my FC-710. At a little after noon the tracking # shows delivered, "left in receptionist area". Well I have been here all day and I didn't see anything get delivered. As a matter of fact when the mail man did show up at about 1:00 I asked him about the package showing delivered even though he just got here and all he could say is call the post office. I always have items delivered to my office because I have had shipments stolen from my door step and at least this way I am always here to receive deliveries. Now all I can do is sit and wait for 3 - 5 days for them to investigate.

After thorough testing (lol) I have to agree with you. This thing hits like a mini rig ( a lil smoother from cycling) with the size and weight of a normal rig- I even lined up all my pieces together to see what the least tippiest was for enail use, it was the toro double micro (base is just huge) followed by this piece, even over my 13" hollow base bubbler and not so impressively the double barrel. I'll have to post up a detailed review in the FC glass review thread (WATCH OUT FOR IT GUYS haha), but I'll post up what I have now after some more testing. For people who haven't used a mini rig, for me personally when I use my worked like 4 1/2" 2 hole beaker I need to downsize my dabs by half, and still get the same results; I'm finding the same to be true to this piece, the dabs I would normally take off my toro hex-13arm are just huge in comparisson to what I can tolerate with the diffy pump, the vapor is just so much quicker / faster it really reduces the amount of concentrate you need, and not to mention I'd say the flavor is a solid 9.5/10 (although I did just grab a pretty nice scoop). (I'd give a 10 to a micro tube, not that it's as practical as the fc710, just flavor wise the micro/10mm just sneaks ahead). I was deadset on getting the male PHVES GonG for my Solo for my starbud cup, but now this thing I think just changed the game, I figure I could pull so hard on the solo to milk it at low temps that I might get a 14mm female. (on that note what is the recommended option? turbo/shorty? and anyone have experience with the vortex?) All I can say is that this piece has met my expectations and more. Especially for a FC prodo piece on the first run- I can't really see any improvements to be made, maybe a larger ball? It wouldn't function like the normal ones do in that case though. (albeit he did have them all redone [great seller qc right there steve!] which might account for how accurate they are). In all, thank you @blankrider for making this happen.

If his new torus style actually gets a good functioning vid I think he has a buyer here! Was pretty set on the new mini pillar but this diffy pump has just met my dabbing needs for that size. The torus clone on the other hand I think has a ton of potential if he puts in the holes that he clearly got spammed about by every person who saw it (even I did and sent him a link of the video, so probably countless lurkers did too and he hopefully got the point). Might have a purchase in that, did a few water tests of some toruses (?) in a store by other glassblowers and the pull is pretty nice. I'm just hoping he can get it done for around ~50$ as that's kind of my benchmark now.

Is there a fc-710 with a 18.8 female joint? I need that.
