Like I said, getting a glass adapter is not a problem. I want a set up that is glass free for safe traveling. What about a silicone expander?

If your not using it with glass what do you need a 19mm WPA for ? Since the wpa is made to fit into a glass joint what else would you use it with ?

Hitting it dry on te go all you need is one of the aluminium stems.

We now have a Grav Labs ash catcher available.

Really nice ! With a removable down-stem it couldn't have been more perfect ! Cleaning is much more easy that way. Clear glass, everyday !

About hooks dry use :
@Max Jitter Those jhooks are a new model right ? The model I had don't have the best angle to see on the plate even if it's enough and I can heat it properly.
I had a Jhook/Sherlock (broke) which was curved almost like a "U" so you would see from higher than further. Those are the best to get a nice view IMO.

Enjoy your Lotus everybody ! Since I'm living between carton boxes actually (moving out), I packed all my vapes except the Lotus of course, which I can hit here and there in both places, while cleaning, painting, (un)packing ...without hassle at all.

Still Love Mendocino Therapeutics !

So what are people using for lighters? Thats my biggest pet peeve about the lotus... Make a similar quality lighter! :p I've gone though:
5 honests - 1 taken, one broken by a friend, and 2 still in action but laggy, 3 on there way
2 vector volts - pain in the ass to adjust, low capacity, the trigger lid feels nice, expensive
1 Zico Ergo - LHS; broke after first tank of gas... just emits a tiny flame. :(
1 torch - my dads; more of a tool. reliable but too big.
3 gun style honests - on there way! Digging the swing cover. Concerned about the lack of a viewport...

Also have some new glass to share (2 actually - broke the first :( ) and a stir stic mod i did! :)

What about a mini-torch or lighter with a large fuel tank? I'd like to refill as infrequently as possible since I'll be likely using it daily.

I've gone away from lighters with my lotus after trying a few of them,
as I get more consistent results with my mini-torches.

This one's the most consistent, great for at home:

This one's more portable, still better than a lighter for me (ymmv):

Thanks man! I've been on the fence about buying one of those - particularly the pencil style ones. Do you find it comfortable to use? Seems like it wouldn't be too bad.

Yes the smaller one is comfortable to use, but a warning: it can empty its butane into your pocket because the valve is not a momentary release; it just opens or closes with a sliding switch. This eliminates the need for a flamelock, but I wouldn't pocket the thing without some duct tape over that switch :2c:

The bigger one has both a momentary trigger valve and a flamelock, and is ergonomic for me even though it's not pocketable. It also hardly ever sputters, the pencil one does sometimes when inverted (nowhere near as bad as the lighters I have though).

Did your Lotus come with a lighter, and if so why not that one?

That's what I've been using, its consistent, works fine, and is pocketable if you keep the tab to lock the button. Honestly requires enough force that i don't have mine locked, but I do have the flameguard on.

Idk if it classifies as a torch or a lighter, but it uses butane and its a "torch" flame....though it operates just like a lighter.

I am interested in the stir stick mod you did, and hoping you can post more info. I lost mine awhile back and have been trying to think of a good replacement.

I've already grown impatient waiting on a used one, so I think i'm going to get a new one. How sturdy is the J-Hook? How thick is the glass? I need a travel companion and the J-Hook seems like a good way to stay within my allocated budget presuming it is sturdy enough to throw in a bag.

I like the angle of the Grav-labs jhook, but the glass is pretty thin. It seems to do the job well enough, but mine did shatter into a million pieces when a friend dropped it onto a glass display case from less than 1 foot, so I don't know how safe it will be.

If you want extreme durable portability, I suggest getting the aluminum stem, that would certainly be sturdy enough to toss in a bag, hell, you could even use the long one in self defense! I swear it's heavier than you'd expect

The Bomb thing about the J-hook is it comes with the WPA if you get the J-hook Kit, So all you need is a 14mm Water pipe down the road. Im pretty sure the J-hook will be fine in a bag, id wrap it in a shirt or something to be sure though.

The J hook is about as durable as you'd expect glass to be. Dropping it or sitting on it will probably end badly.

If you put it a rigid case it should be OK. A Pelican type case would protect it against just about anything except maybe being dropped very forcibly.

I think most people would consider J hooks semi-expendable. It's not a matter of if they break, but when. For the price it's worth having one (or a couple) around.

My quiver includes a OGB J hook, which is a little heavier than the one's offered MT's website, and twice as expensive. I doubt that it's twice as durable as the cheaper ones though.

Yeah, I already have a 19mm bong and a couple 19mm-14mm adapters. I 100% want the aluminum stem, but I simply can't afford it right now. The J-Hook set seems like a good deal until I can pick up an aluminum stem later.

EDIT: What are the differences between the various versions? I notice the Lotus website has the v3.

You can get by nicely with the J hook. I prefer it over the the al. stem, but I'd recommend the stem as a means of being more concealable and as a backup to the J hook. I use mine all the time.

The V1 is the original style and V3 is the latest. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the V1 has a smaller bowl. The V3 and the V2 are the same except for the plates. The V3 has the latest version heater plate that is less inclined to crack due to use.
