No, I get the same vapor overall. You may have slightly less dense hits, but will have more hits in total to make up for it. Really bro, if you don't want to upgrade your grinder, just make less turns with the grinder than you normally would. This will provide a less fine grind. I do this all the time when I want to vape my kief right then instead of collecting with my space case. It's so simple man. I've never had abv in my cooling unit and I use the default screen instead of the fine one.

Don't you feel you get less vapor from coarse grinded nugs? When I tried that I didn't get vapor for nearly as long as when the bud was grinded

When I was using the regular coarse screen with the Orange grinder they provided which would seem the proper way to use it, I literally had to clean it every 2 sessions because there was so much ABV inside. I mean I didn't HAVE TO clean it but there was ALOT in there. So the only answer seems to be use the finer screen or oil pad which i definitely don't want to do as I like the free flow and an almost fully packed chamber or deal with cleaning up the ABV or use a coarse grind but then not 100% of materal gets vaporized as I do notice a reduction in session length and vapor amount when using coarse grind vs fine

I would recommend a higher quality grinder than the S&B model. Personally I like the Santa Cruz Shredder. The shred is the new grind . . .

Problem with that is its so cold my bud is dry even 3 turns makes the bud crumble instead of shred

So the Santa cruz shredder actually shreds the buds and not grind it no matter how many times you turn it? Even dry bud? This sounds like a good idea....

Great Scott!
As far as cleaning the "CU" every 2 sessions? Well that seems to be a bit hyperbolic to me as I've gone 20 sessions without cleaning and not had an issue with draw or taste. YMMV.

:peace:

Yes I'd call that hyperbolic. I tend to go more like 30+ sessions between cleanings. I just make sure to dump out the ABV when its hot, and blow the debris out of the screen while its hot.

I'm honest and when I use a fine grind and normal screen there is already a considerable amount in the CU.

ON a side note - which Santa cruz or space case would you recommend for a perfect shred and not grind? The 2 piece or 4 piece? What's better space case or Santa? Santa seems fairly more expensive.

Is that a 4 piece wth the screen removed? I feel like the 2 piece is better no? I don't want to lose THC each time in the screen just to save it for the end I was never into that. I rather maximize the effects each session

I recommend a cvault with one of the humidity packs. Throw the dry bud in there and it will breath a little life into it. You can grab one from most of the online vaporizer stores. I got one about 6 months ago. Super worthwhile purchase imo

Agreed, @Pjake! And, they do an excellent job of controlling the odor as well. Those faint whiffs of flower I was getting at odd times are gone now that Cvault has replaced the old prescription containers!

I have those but when the bud is really dry it steals the moisture from the humidity pack and alters the taste. To me it only works good at maintaining moisture not adding it

On a side note I did some quick research and it seems the Santa cruz shredder is the best for the crafty as it has a fluffy shred compared to others

Anybody else finding the mouthpiece on the CU a bit awkward to draw from ? Sometimes I find the smoke hitting the roof of my mouth or the middle of my tongue.Do you guys place your lips on the tip of the mouthpiece or from where the groove on the sides start ? Could just be me that this is effecting, I have got a fat tongue.

The shred is awesome. That picture is of their new 3 piece design. No screen to remove . . .

https://santacruzshredder.myshopify.com/collections/three-piece

Does it shred really dry material also? I really don't want to spend $50 on a grinder if it's not something worth it and different. I have a mendo mulcher I bought so long ago and never use because it's so huge and that's when I used to smoke fat joints. I tried using it and even that was a little better then the provided s and b grinder but still too fine and I only turned it like 3-4 times. Does the SCS shred no matter what or you still have to only turn it a few times or it will grind fully ?

Possible faults / Troubleshooting

Problem:

The LED display of
CRAFTY
flashes alternately
red/blue.

Possible cause/remedy:

Battery temperature is either too high or too low. Allow
the hot Vaporizer to cool down or the cold Vaporizer to
warm up.

12. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

CRAFTY Vaporizer:

Operating temperature: 5°C - 40°C / 41°F - 104°F

Hey dude, I have the same problem!

What happened ?

I have to let it cool all the time and it resets its memory and starts heating up to 210C !!

Just checked on my crafty. The unit is plugged in and I am not getting any blue light as in indicator that it is charging. When I try to power not on with it plugged in, it will start flashing red and stop. I'm guessing I have to send it back in. There is no red flashing light issue in the manual that I saw.

Looks like I will be without my crafty and esv for awhile. :(

I have that with a faulty USB lead, try another (bearing in mind some are better than others)

My crafty has been overheating much more often than it used to. Often, I can only get two or three big draws from it on boost before it shuts off and starts blinking. Am very curious if anybody else is experiencing anything similar.

@natural farmer Is this what happened to yours before it started having more serious problems?

I get this from time to time, even when Im trying to let it "breath" and get air through it, havent figured it out. I think it might be when the battery is very low its more sensitive to overheating?

I'm also getting the shutoff due to battery getting hot. I vape at max temp start to finish with 66 hours clocked on the crafty app. On a side note, does anyone cover the mouthpiece with a finger to prevent vapor leakage? I'm thinking maybe it can't breathe properly with a finger over it causing it to heat up more quickly.

Vapor Sloth
One thing I have noticed with my replacement Crafty is that the temperature is much less stable when it first heats up. It will overshoot the set temp by a good 5*F, then cool and undershoot a bit. Once the unit is in operation for a hit or two it calms down. There also seems to be a slightly longer delay in regards to what is happening on the device and how long it takes to reflect that on the phone app. There seems to be a slight "lag" on my new one. Everything works fine, the result is good, its just different.

Mine has always been that way. I just assumed it was normal.

The Vape of Things to Come
Just taken delivery of my Crafty.

Blown away by the quality, functionality, and ease of use.

I've owned a Volcano since 2006 (still works like a treat without any maintenance required) so I had high expectations of the S & B company when ordering the Crafty. Those expectations have been met and exceeded.

I happen to own a 10,400 ma/h power pack which I bought to charge my phone and tablet when I'm out and about, so the relatively short battery life of the Crafty is not an issue for me.

It's really nice seeing the temperature rise and fall in real time on my iPad mini. Also, the temperature alert in the form of a vibration system is very very useful.

It's just a wonderfully designed, life-changing device (and I really do mean that without exaggeration).

Now whenever I find myself stuck with boring company at a bar/party/whatever, I can just nip to a quiet corner (or the bathroom) and suddenly the world's a breezy happy place again. :]

Only problem is, there don't seem to be any ready-made Crafty carry cases on eBay. :hmm:

Mine too, overheats by 2/3C not really an issue. The Crafty really takes all the good cannaboids, when i was combusting i was buying top shelf weed, now when i'm vaping with the Crafty i can buy the leftovers for half the price of top shelf weed and still get high.

Lets not derail this thread. Here is a link to the last page of the grinder thread so you can read up on what people are saying: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/herb-grinders.15/page-209

Thanks for that

I never thought I would ever say this about a vaporizer especially portable but it really does get you higher then combusting gram for geam. I notice the most because some morning I smoke a nice bong session and sometimes I smoke the crafty and I do feel higher on the train when I'm craftied out compared to smoking. It's a different feeling also it's crazy. I never even got this high with the volcano. Possibly all the mixed in air

Thanks to another member here who posted this I ordered one and it's on the way. Seems to fit perfect based on dimensions and for the price you can't go wrong!

Nice grinder!

I have exclusively used the S&B grinder for years. It grinds the finest out of any grinder I've owned. I found that with the volcano, the finer the grind the more vapor I get. I assumed the same for the Crafty. I've actually never tried the crafty with the regular screen, I switched to fine as soon as I got it. Like some others on here , most of the stuff I get is highly cured and as dense as a rock. It crumbles if you look at it the wrong way. Would a "shredder" make a difference here?

Mine has always been that way. I just assumed it was normal.

This is how mine behaves as well, I've logged about 12 hours so far. I wonder if the serial # on the bottom corresponds to the actual number of production. Maybe there have been some revision or software tweaks since October.

Been a while :)

various:

- After some hours of usage I can not get my oven super clean and shinny like at the beginning so I use the same method that I did with the Solo, and that is a drill-bit I ad like in the photo below, it works really well. take screen of first ;)

uOhHlbz.jpg

Bearing in mind that I'm on 36 hours of usage :)

O4KNeIF.jpg

- By the way I have had my E-mod adapter staying on for a good while now and no sign of fatigue, its really a good product this J-B weld. SO much smooth and easy to apply. This time I used a clamp to make sure it would not fly away while gluing it.

nklpFKc.jpg

- I've had the bottom of a cooling unit in Ethanol 96° for more than a month now or even a couple and I can not see signs of deterioration yet :)

pzuunqM.jpg

- and on a last one I'm still as happy with my Crafty as the day I received it, actually no, I'm lying I'm definitely happier, now that I now exactly what buttons to press and how to press them
