How come clouds arent always what they seem to be?

Ok so this might sound like a stupid question, but as I was playing with the temp dials and vaping on my vaporizer earlier today, I decided to up the temp to see what kind of effects I got and if the clouds were thicker. (though I have played with the temp dials many times before, I have moved passed the learning curve and I have greatly improved my breathing technique)So this time it was different.

I use a bubbler and for some reason I like to look at the bubbler fill up through a mirror so because its so damn fun. The density of the vapor inside the bubbler still seemed very light. Though when I cleared the bubbler and swallowed the vapor I exhaled and the vapor was plainly visible and the effects were earth moving. Though the herb was browning out at a fast rate, possibly some combustion. I still didnt get the clouds I was looking for.

Now this question is in refrence to some youtube videos I see. When people milk thier water tool and the vapor gathered in there gets pretty dense, so dense you cant see through the other side of the water tool. White, white. And when they clear and exhale, its still pretty densed. Is there a technique to drawing this type of vapor? I use cold tap water if that makes a difference.

Some vapors are almost invisible and leave me totally blurred, some are plainly visible, yet they take time to peak and others are just mediocre.

what kind of watertool are you using?
I can whitewall my ehle straight tube if I want, aty least from my viewpoint, but I also have a tiny bubbler that I can't make white, however the clouds I exhale afterwards can be just as big, I think with the bubbler most of it just immediatly exits trough the mouthpiece, doesn't build up enough to really get white.

the most dense whiteness I've had with my ehle was with slightly below average quality pressed moroccon hash, a slow, long draw also helps to let it build up more(in those cases I can really see it build up, the lower portion of the tube becommin g dense white first, building up to the top).

but most of the time I'm not really aiming for that denseness/visibility in my glass, I like slightly less dense hits more.

Well my water tool collection will soon be two, as I ordered the D020d from dhgate and waiting for it in the mail. I have the mini hydrator from vaporbrothers. I know I dont have some nifty tools like alot of people here have, but It took me some time to acknowledge that vape is king. I would go back and forth from smoking, probably because I didnt find the right combination of breathing technique, herb usage, ease and convinience.

I have recently been more interested in clouds in since they keep me entertained and it somewhat resembles smoking. For me the the after effects and comsumption rate are most important, though the clouds have stirred a curiosity in me.

Fresh bowl yes. Vaporbrothers box whip, soon to be brand new e nano. About .4

I didnt know so many factors were involved. Lol....But from what I see so far from this, is that it could be the type water tool, vaporizer, how much herb....

That's so much herb. I couldn't imagine loading .2g the Nano will be great for conservation.
The biggest factors are amount of herb and temperature.
Decrease your bowl to .2g for testing. Try and pack the herb so it won't move in an odd position for when you inhale. Where do you normally set your dial at?

Thanks for your feedback man. Ive been leaving it between 10 to 11 on the dial. Yesterday I started fidgeting with the dial in a while and started at 12, like the instructions say in hopes to get dense vapor. I was of course pulling more vapor but the herbs were darkening quickly. though I was drawing faster than before.

I might want to add that sometimes I feel like Im straining pulling slower at lower temps. I did take the advice of some here to grind medium course and pack it lighter for better airflow.

I prefer quicker inhales and higher temps, herb will go through faster for sure.

You'd want to be starting around 12 for some nice clouds so it sounds like you're on a good start.

For me it's about matching draw strength to vapor production. At the beginning of the hit the vapor forms and thickens as temps increase. Here I draw slow and lightly. Once the vapor thickens, I draw slow and more heavily until there's whitewall. Then when the chamber is pure milk, a quick hard draw to gulp it down.

That's just my routine. But by varying draw speed and draw strength, and also the size of the water tool chamber, anyone can find their own sweet V-spot. There's lot of other variables too like dryness of material. Dry milks up better than moist.

To get the best visual effect you need contrast. Do you place a bulb or lamp toward your bubbler while hitting, think about when it's foggy out, your brights make it worse. Natural window light from the sun is best, but uncontrollable.

I recently picked up this guy from walmart, I can't recommend it enough, only uses up 3.5 Watts. The light is directional so it's not so stressful on the eyes like a CFL bulb.

Maybe give that a try, see what happens.

Yup, it's all about that lighting. If I hit my glass with my vapes at my desk with regular lighting it doesn't look super milky, but as soon as I put my iPhone flashlight up to the glass you can't see through it. Good lighting will make a big difference in how vapor appears to you and on camera. Personally I think huge vapor clouds can be wasteful but you can't beat the punch from a huge hit. I don't focus too much on visual clouds now, as long as effects are there. It is nice feeling the difference from light terp-rich hits and the throat hit from trying to choke down a massive high-temp pull, though.

Perhaps the chemicals that cause the opaqueness of the vapor, aren't necessarily all psychoactive.
Also, lighting. Lighting is one of the most important things for viewing vapor. Both the strength, and location/angle of the light matter.

So what you guys are saying is those white wallings that I see, are mainly smoke and mirrors? Or better yet, vape and lighting. Who would have ever thought?

I know, then vape thickness does not directly correlate with desired effects. Or at least I think it doesnt.

@Syrupy, Isn't draw speed and draw strength practically the same? Wouldnt one adjust draw speed through draw strength?

@Tweak, my apologies if I missed it, but what is a KIW?

I know its kinda newbie to think like this, though for some unknown reason, I need to see vape clouds when Im vaping. It satisfies a certain emotional need of mine, of being one with the clouds.

I appreciate everyone that has shared their point.
