FlowerMate Vapormax V/V5.0/V5.0S/V5 Pro

No worries about knock offs. The legit manufacturer is one that makes knock offs. ;)

Care to elaborate because it's quite a bold claim... They do OEM for Atmos but AFAIK all their vapes are designed and produced in house.

Now if you said that because the FM5 is loosely similar to the original DV, all portables vapes are the knock off from some previous design...

My statement is because they are a manufacturer from China. Now I do take my hat off as they do have some of their own development happening.
I also apologize if not the case but IMHO, would be rare. For another company to make a knock off and price accordingly would not leave any profit margin. Or if like the Titan ll, made by different manufactures (all in China) under loose guidelines, has made that product sell for peanuts now. ($20 ea.) Which is good for us as consumers. ;) Bad for us as an exporter. :(
My statements are only from bits and pieces I've read on this forum combined with my own experiences in marketing. Lots of room for improvement.
By all means, we're here for the information and opinions.
Debates, and correcting when wrong, are all part of the fun.

@Pipes : I really think that nobody could really profit out of fake FlowerMates because Smiss is already producing them with such a small margin in the first place, it's not really worth it for competitors. Also my contact mentioned patents at some point...

What amazes me is that this company managed to release in only two years 7 vaporizers and is planning to release at least 3 new ones in a few months! The turn-around is more than impressive and if you look closely you'll see that the original FM5 price has already lowered, meaning they already made their money out of it and moved to higher grounds. And I'm not even counting their e-cigs products because it's their core business in the first place, let's not forget it.

Here's a quote from my contact explaining the beginning of their herb vaporizers journey: "We entered the dry herb vaporizer market in 2013 with the VaporMax-I, which is also called "AGO G5 Vaporizer" and which was famous in the market back then. We lacked the patent protection consciousness when we made it, so one of our competitor copied it and got its patent ownership. But luckily the VaporMax-I opened the door for us to work with Atmos in the US".

Then the story afterwards is as we know it: the FM4 is sold as Atmos LIV, the FM3 is Atmos Orbit and the FM7 is Atmos Transporter. They tried to release the G3 but it got awful reviews and was discontinued. And we have the FM5 and FM5-S, then the FM8 that are sold directly under the FlowerMate brand. Now they plan to release the FM5-Pro, FM5-Mini and the W100 (battery powered hybrid desktop) That's quite an achievement in my book, and no other company has been so productive so far.

I've been using my FM5-S daily since I got it and continue to enjoy it to date. I gave up on trying to clean the bowl area and the bottom screen: it's like stuff sticks to it then re-vaporizes and it never really clogs. On the other hand the mouthpiece screen needs to be cleaned very often. I decided to make a compromise: I'm ok to lose some reclaim to gain some ease of use in return, and I found that if I wipe that screen with a paper tissue while it's still hot right after every session, it's very easy to remove most of the oil and it doesn't clog. This still leaves me with plenty of reclaim after the screen and everywhere on the glass part of the mouthpiece.

My only real complaint is the temperature selection they did and in particular the lack of a low temperature setting. Blue works well no doubt but it's too high to preserve the flavor, the taste is good when starting then slowly degrades (with the fixed temp one it's worse, the taste is good for 2-3 hits at best then ABV/popcorn kicks in)

Excellent post!! Very informative on Smiss background. Never knew all that, thank you.
They really hit the spot at the right time as the vape market takes off. The infrastructure already in place sure must have helped.
The point that they are already at a low margin killing the possibility of clones is what I was trying to say as well. They are already in the environment where manufacturing costs are low.

I also found the mouthpiece screen a pita to keep clean. I'm still using my modified mouthpiece with no problem. Rarely need to clean and just touch the screen that pushes against the herb. Being adding some cotton in the upper part to catch any bits getting past the push screen. Once it gets full (and sticky), I throw it in with my ABV for reclaim processing.
It does seem taste good for very few puffs for the amount of herb.
However the effect is definitely there. Having an S unit would be nicer to play for sure.
What I like is the speed for a good quick incognito puff or three. Two or four times..

I am thinking about picking up a flowermate in the near future....

My only concern is with the V5 Pro coming out in ~march, it might be best to wait unil then... I do like temp control...

Decisions, decisions......

Was just looking on the wizard puff website, they list some odd sizes for the universal water tool.

Wizardpuff - water-pipe-adapter
I'm wondering if its a typo.

mod note: no links to the wizardpuff site please.

Liking mine more and more. Was worried it wouldn't do hash, as I prefer my medical grade of that as bud doesn't do much for me. A little bed of crushed bud, and load it up with crumbled/separated hash, throw some bud on top. Only get 3 or 4 huge hits, but dam.... I put my hot knives away for good I think. Just worried about the toffee hash we occasionally get, it liquifies at room temp, hope it doesn't drip through the bottom screen......

So I dropped my Fm hard today, both sliders flew off and the outside casing shifted a bit so I put it all back together and there's now something rattling around inside. It still works though, I just hope that whatever has come loose inside will be OK!

Not to be flip, but I'd start with reading this entire thread (but skimming pretty fast over the beginning sections)

charge it up, run it on red a few times and maybe blow into the air vents (to ensure it's all clean for use). then use it with the finest ground up ganja you got.
Thank you! While I did skim all pages of the thread, I saw some people talking about the screens in the mouth piece, is the stock screens bad or something? will they block airflow?

the 5 restrictor holes in the mouthpiece restrict the airflow a lot , so if airflow is a problem , just drill the holes bigger , just remember if u drill too much don't draw too fast , orelse the chamber won't heat up enough and you'll likey fill your lungs with mostly air and not enough vapor. I'm wondering if you don't use the fm for long periods of time , how to maintain the unit? Do I have to do a empty session once in a while and recharge it?

Well I'm not very handy with a drill :( is there any alternatives?

After you take out the original screen that should be enough for you to get a satisfying hit. As the above poster stated if you have big drilled holes, it will cool down the oven too much when you pull too hard esepcially if you take fast draws. Slow your draws. That restricter plate is there for a reason.

With clean screen the airflow seems quite good to me. I keep one screen soaking while I have the other in the FM. Switch it out whenever airflow gets too slow.

All you really need to do is enlarge the center hole just a titch (like to 5/64 of an inch if you were to drill it). If you have something like an ice pick, you could probably use it to enlarge the center hole (but I don't recommend it on the other holes). Or, maybe see if you could get a friend to drill it out for you. It won't take but a minute.

I tried taking out my mouthpiece screen, but I found that fine particles tended to clog up the restrictor plate too much. I think it's better to substitute one of the more airy screens that were discussed something like 15 pages back in the thread.

I cleaned my fm best I could , the bowl is all white like new , and the chamber screen is cleaned well but there might be some abv stuck between the crease and holes in the screen that I could not get to , I have spare chamber screens but i don't know how to change it , does any one have any tips on how to change it ? Because when i do dry burns I can see vapor or fumes rising when I shine a light on it , Im thinkin it might be the tiny bits of Abv stuck in the chamber screen but after two three empty burns on red setting i can still see the vapors rising ,I'm fine if it's just the abv , just worried it might be off gassing or maybe it's burning the tapes or wires in the fm, my questions are , if it's off gassing or burning wire and tape , what would the smell be like ? And also , if it's only just abv that's stuck in the screen, can it produce vapor after many empty burn off? I have dropped it only once in the past and have had no problems. The smell from vapor rising doesn't smell irritating or harsh , but I'm not really sure it's abv either as I'm new to vaping.im guessing if it's off gassing the smell might hurt my nose and be very obvious? Thanks for any advice or input you guys can give me

Does anyone know the specs of this charger so I can buy a spare? if so can you either post the actual listing o the item or something?

There's some discussion of chargers several (like maybe 8-10) pages back in the thread. The charger specs are printed right on the side of the stock charger (output @9 volts, 1 amp). You can probably find it just by doing a search for "charger" in this thread.

I was looking at the whole picture of the side of it, does only the output matter? or do all the numbers have to match

I think it's best to match both voltage and amperage on the output. There's plenty of wiggle room on the input side (AC voltage from 100-240 volts ok).
