I think I need to clarify once again that indeed I am nitpicking, because overall yes the vapor path is pretty good and straight-forward: no bad surprises here and kudos for Bauway/Ciggo in that regard. It's just that at least on the first sample I have, there appears to be a minute gap between the metal tube and the plastic housing (where the tube exits) and when you blow air without the mouthpiece (and you need to use some kind of straw to do that) then air can escape via the USB.

But does it happen in practice? I don't think so, or very very minally at best. I'm saying that *in theory* since there is a gap between the mouthpiece metal straw and the metal tube coming from the bowl, some air can be sucked in. Most of that air will come from outside (ie the top of the device around the mouthpiece) following the path of least resistance. Maybe a very minimal amount of air could come from the device internals but it will be at most just warm and not really hot.

As someone noticed it's possible that the new device smell is just due to the non perfect mating between the external shell and the top plastic housing, and we're just breathing the device internals through that, but that doesn't mean we will inhale that with the mouthpiece. The device initially had some smell when cold but even then, it didn't create any off-taste.

I just re-did an empty burn-in while typing this post and this time even at max temperature the bowl smelled completely neutral. No suspicious smell at all. The more I use this device the more I like it!

Updates from Bauway

Ludo still can't post on the forum for some reason, his commercial account doesn't get approved I don't know why (any mod reading?) so he asked me to post the following updates:

- They are trying to make a new mouthpiece according to the reviews
- I will receive a revised second sample with a few modifications implemented already, including:
1) with a button sequence it will be possible to toggle vibration on/off
2) with another button sequence it will be possible to toggle the multicolor LED on/off
3) with a third sequence it will be possible to toggle the OLED screen on/off
(ie the device will be able to operate in completely stealth mode!)
- They can easily make changes to the software if we have other requests
- They will try to make the mouthpiece easier to open and to clean
- The price some users posted is the wholesale price and not the retail price and they would like us to keep it private if possible (yeah I know it's too late but they wanted me to make it clear it won't be that cheap once it reaches your favorite shop)
- They are investigating the possible gap issue on some samples

All sounds good, like those new smart features and new mouthpiece would really set things up for longevity of the device.

Apologies if ibwasbt supposed to post wholesale price, only reposted what I saw here already somewhere.

@Abysmal Vapor mine definitely has air out the usb blowing through mouthpiece, with or with out oven covered. Guess I probably do deserve a replacement then? Dont really wanna ask or demand though since it was a sample to test

Dude their is think silicon when chamber connects it lets air when chamber is sealed with you finger.. which when pressure builds lets air into electronics... If you wanna see for your self that there is no air between moutpiece and herbchamber leaking u have to remove bottom part with a knife (it is easy and plug the hold with your finger.. plugging the plastic square door doesnt means sealing the the chamber... ) :) I hope i do not sound confusing..
There is more than enough passive airflow from the bottom so it is unlikely that air from electronics runs into chamber..

Ha a bit. I did mean plugging oven with my finger, not the door, door isn't airtight by design

Got my new sample. It is sealed, first one got banged up in customs/shipping I am guessing, anyways, will have a full review soon, my take away from it so far is that it taste slightly better then a PAX(Friend was here with Pax, we both thought so...). It gives out pretty nice clouds when packed and I mean packed, this thing puts out quite a lot actually, but if you don't pack it you're gonna have a bad time. It does not burn it, the durability probably isn't in the same field as some more higher end portables but its not fair to compare 200-300 dollar portables....

The vibration is way to loud also, I like it but it needs to be toned down.

I would say its worth it, will have a nice review up in a couple days, week the latest, wanna get some nice usage out of it first, not sure how the battery is yet, have no used it enough.

KeroZen are those updates possible to flash to our units? Any word on that? Also curious if the new mouthpiece is compatable with the current herbstick.

I had 2 HD samples sent to me.
The second unit came with an extra mouthpiece.
Neither of my 2 units leak through the USB.

I agree the HD needs to be packed very tight for optimal results IMO.

After drilling out the top and bottom of the mouthpiece, as well as removing the silicone MP insert (it has a small hole that restricts airflow) I find the HD more pleasant of a device. I did several burnoffs with no off gassing which I was pleased to see.

IMO the chamber is too large, as is the PAX. Using an Indica spacer does work as a quick fix for half packing.

I would like to to see:
-The MP pre drilled for less restriction, with no silicone lining.
-The vibrating function vibrate only once, and only the initial time it reaches temp. By vibrating twice each time you step up temp is surely a battery killer, although my battery does last a long time it could be longer.
-An on/off function for vibration if your battery gets low.
-The oven lid to extend down into the chamber past the silicone seal. Maybe even one that will go halfway down the chamber for those "half pack" sessions.
-A magnet fix on the oven lid. My magnets will slide right out of the holes in the lid if there is a screwdriver or pliers next to it.

My use of the HD so far has been mostly positive. After drilling the MP and removing the silicone I quite enjoy the HD.

I must say customer service is pretty top notch from Ciggo who are sending us samples on their dime.
Also, I have never had an issue with trying to communicate with Ludo.

For a new chinese vaporizer I must say I am impressed with the unit and customer support.
I see very much potential in the HD.
When the final units roll out after Ciggo has taken all of our suggestions It will no doubt be a fine contender in the portable market.

Any other ideas for a spacer? If not this is still good for full days out based on the amount it fits, a plus in a lot of peoples eyes.

:)Here are my thoughts and impressions of the Herbstick Deluxe experience !
First of all i have to begin with their awesome customer service.. My first demo unit came with what proved later to be a defective mouthpiece which stucked inside, anyway u can see the drama and the guts few pages back if u like. The second one came real quick.
Package discreetly and the same as the first one. I got a lot of extra accesoaries this time ,really happy about it.
Build quality is awesome ,although that diamond is a bit annoying but since it is deluxe i think still fits the design properly.
Battery life is great ,charging don't take long , u get both voltage and battery level indicators which is awesome, cause u can track the health of your battery . I have never been left with empty battery but i am charging it everyday.
Chamber is rather large but with my diy spacer i can get nice clouds even with 0.1 loads. There is no water adapter but i mcguyvered some and its a real pleasure to combine with water..
It is the one of the most effective vapes i tried , on high temps it gives really nice couchlock effect.
This one is great for parties , ease of use ,stealthness, large chamber.. It went trough 2 raves and one concert ,and everyone that tried it ,liked it... I've never had experience before with a portable that can be passed around 5-6 people and get them all smashed.. I vaped like 6 grams top quality on that party and there was still battery left...
Another thing i like about it is when combined with my waterpipe is that u can stir and draw at the same time, no vapor wasted :D,also a novelty to me :).
Airpath is safe ,i don;t have airleaks like other users reported.. I have opened mine and it is a really easy thing to do, i am pleased with internals, + battery replacement seems to be user serviceble.. :) .
Unit is easy to clean, moutpiece can be easily opened with enough desire no need to drill in order to remove silicon.. Acutually i like it with the silicon better, it gives me cooler vapor compare to w/o it. Airpath is really long and vapor comes cool at high temps.
Overall i like this better than flowermate because of functions.. but i think flowermates and x-max 2 vaporchambers are superior to that one cause they give better taste !
If this could be make with the same ceramic chamber i bet flavour quality would increase .
Anotherthing i can suggest in order to make it better is to make the chamber narrower ,because it is heated by the sides and herb in the middle doesn't get as much heat as that near the walls, which is the reason the units needs a spacer or a full load to perform at its best.
Here is a short video of operation with water filtration

Yea mine can pair with water using @Ratchett's Indica SonG, and ive been using a plain indica spacer as well with very even results on a half pack.

Did you guys request replacements, or were they offered to you after you told Bauway about the taste and air leak? I dont really want to demand anything, a and maybe it'd be more worthwhile to wait for the new and improved mouthpiece design with one piece?

I would wait, got a reply, the current ones don't seem to be upgrade friendly.

"I am sorry to tell that the test one for you has not been upgradated with the vibration on/off function.
in this way you are not lucky as we just send your units out and then this function has been wrote on the PCBA.
thank you."

From: Bauway Ludo

I would wait personally for the upgrades and adjustments. I was offered it, didn't ask, would like to see how the new one performs with the upgraded PCB, hopefully someone gets those for testing.

Yeah I'm fine waiting, but should I outright ask for one when the mouthpiece is fixed and I can change vibration/led?

After a little more use with the HD I have to say I agree with most everything @Vape Dr. said, I've been using a plain indica spacer and it works well, but the two door sizes is brilliant as long as theres a good way to grip it without risk of burn. And yes better insertion of door magnets.

My mouthpiece isn't drilled and I find airflow fine with the silicone removed and bottom five holes screwdrivered into one big one. Open flow able to sip long and slow for massive clouds even on 347F. However taste is still needing to be broken in some more (hopefully it improves?).

I think the new mouthpiece will make it much more worthwhile for the longterm as well, single piece and no retraction so it stays secure (mine is wobbly, especially when using the SonG and a bubbler ofcourse). I keep it popped up at all times bc the mechanism is way too wonky and I dont want to risk it getting stuck. Just a little mouthpiece sticking out is fine, no need to retract

As it seems the manufacturer is listening to member suggestions here, I'll put my 2 cents in... I'd love to see a version without the "diamond" on the LED. I think just a plastic screen in front of the LED, flush with the metal surface, would look much better. Even better, a flat tip LED mounted flush to the metal. Anyone agree?

My fingers are super red, I can't seem to get the mouthpiece apart to remove the silicone, I am curious, maybe you guys are all muscle men :p.

Tried 3 different mouthpieces, all super tight, wont budge.

Edit: Of course as soon as I post this it comes off super easy O_O....nevermind guys/girls lmao

The bottom piece had a silicon square, any reason for it? It just came out...odd.

Yeah man just went through that. I found the best way was to thread the cylinder on, hold the mouthpiece flat against a table (tightly) then lightly hit the cylinder with something until it starts to budge. Once it starts to budge you can wiggle the cylinder by hand.

Took two large screens (probably 3/4") and used them as spacers. Made the capacity way smaller than before. Also I noticed the included screen is magnetic while none of my stainless screens are magnetic. Quick googling shows stainless can be magnetic in certain cases.

Tests so far are very favorable. New PCB is LEGIT. Are all of these new features or just the vibration?

From above:

New_Update_2.png

All features work great. Being able to use any combination of LCD, LED, and vibration is a great idea. Now that I think of it I think this was taken directly from crafty?

I love the form factor of this unit. It is very small and the popout mouthpiece is really cool. The new PCB seems great. Being able to easily shut off LED, vibration and screen is a great idea for stealth. I only use the screen but if I needed to I could set temp and then turn the screen off with a click of a button. Performance is very good (even better with drilled screen).

But one thing I really really dislike. Airpath is not sealed. Blocking the oven and inhaling, air still travels through. If the air traveled through with some resistance then I wouldnt be as disappointed, but it flows pretty easily. From posts here and talking with Ludo it seems to be the mouthpiece connection. I wonder when vaping how much air if any is being diluted with air from around the unit? This cant be good for flavor. Flavor, is hard to tell flavor since my unit was used with tobacco since it has the new pcb. I told Ludo how this makes it much harder to judge flavor (which he apologized for). I did an extremely thorough cleaning today because the tobacco flavor was really annoying; practically drenched the whole unit in rubbing alcohol some even got into the screen. Its powering up perfectly which is pretty cool.

Airpath probably the biggest negative keeping this unit from glory. I mean they are so close, but to me this is a huge negative. I dont want to taste solder/robotfart (which I think is what im tasting with the oven blocked, again hard to tell WTF is going on with that tobacco). All other negatives are minor in comparison. I like Ludo, he has given great communication and seems interested in fixes. If they could fix airpath, no screen/silicone in mouthpiece (better airflow), and provided spacers for that huge bowl I think it would be a winner.

Airpath seems pretty clean to me, it takes fresh air around the door, through your load in the bowl and in the stem to the mp, it's very simple, there is nothing in the airpath to pollute it (except a bit of plastic around the door and the components themself of the airpath).

Maybe there is some little "leaks where the stem is connected to the bowl but it's not a big deal, I like how smooth is this vape....

Can you do me a favor and block the oven door and inhale? Is it pretty free flowing or restrictive?

Yes I agree there is some leak but the airflow is pretty restricted when you block the oven door and I think the air will follow the easier way when oven door is not blocked....

Glad to hear it. I wonder if others could try this as well? In my case there is barely a difference in restriction. Im going to take it apart and try to fix it (might as well right?).
