If only people would pay their carbon taxes this type of thing would never happen. Like everyone says climate change is bad so I guess climate stasis is what we need. Kinda like Camelot . . . ;)

Ya know, I just heard the most asinine thing that I think I've ever heard on Fox. When reporting this weather event, the anchor stated, "Well, I guess this just goes to prove that global warming is just a figment in liberals minds". Fucking idiots..........They can't even comprehend that global warming can actually spawn storms such as this.

@lwien - I love you man, I really do, but I worry you watch Fox News a lot. I fear for your health some times like you might pop a vein or something while consuming their product. I admit I use them for "radar" once in a while, and I like Shep's boyish looks and charming voice (I know save it for the man crush thread) but I go months sometimes without hearing them pedal their fear and I think I feel better for it. Of course YMMV . . . man I am in a mood today . . . :)

Shep is the ONLY anchor on there that can lay claim to being "Far and Balanced". Actually, I watch Fox for not only getting another perspective but also for some comic relief. Some of the stuff is so outrageus that, to me, it's kinda comical. The one anchor though (and I use the word, "anchor" very loosely) that ticks me off so much that I just can't take too much of him in one sitting is Hannity.

Watching Fox News is like reading The National Enquirer. Anyone who thinks, and uses their brain doesn't bother with either of these organizations. Notice I didn't use the word "journalism" when describing them. ;)

Hey @Vicki . . . when you find a source of "news" that doesn't have an agenda let me know will ya . .

Yeah, but having an agenda is one thing but being dogmatic about that agenda is quite another, eh?

But the bottom line is that it's a business and the current news business is to identify who their target demographic is and appeal to that demographic. Fox has been genius at doing this and they are raking in the big bucks. Financially............extremely successful.

The truth lies in a million shades of gray. One must take in information from many sources, remove the finely crafted commentary and bias, and then sift for facts and truth.

Oh, I think the truth lies in 50 Shades of Grey! I agree completely. I would need to thoroughly research this. Anyone else?

Wait.....this isn't the Parkinson's thread......oops. :dog:

My last thought on this thread derail . . . I once got yelled at, at work, for asking the same question from 3 different people. The senior sales person that was training me was quite irritated and he asked me why when he answered a question for me that I would then go ask the same question of a manager or someone else. I learned that the "truth" lies in many bits and pieces around different areas and that only by reflecting between different sources did I have a way to gage the quality of the information I was receiving.

I guess what it came down to for me is this: Am I going to just repeat what other people are saying or am I going to think for myself? By piecing together the best mosaic of "truth" that I can from multiple sources and viewpoints and then drawing my own opinion of what is real to me, then that is thinking for myself. I think . . . :hmm:

Normally when something huge is headed towards the east coast it hits us a couple days before, but this one never tagged us. And that was appreciated. They were fun when I was a kid, but not so much anymore.
