I JUST picked up mye very first bubbler ever, the D020-x I believe, from Sunshinestore on DHGate, and OMG, this is amazing! Nothing like the glassbongs we've got here!

I think I'll buy a new middlepart for the Vapman and have it ground down to fit tightly, but for now just holding the Vapman firmly down after placing in possition works like a charm.

Haha, oh well, my last living grandmother is from the time before modernity hit this northern wilderness*, and now I'm imagining her toking up hahah oh man

*seriously, she's from thee Olden Times, not as in being conservative, but as in growing up with out any of the stuff we take for granted today. She mentions facts like she was starving as a kid, and my grandfather was a teenage guerrilla soldier during WW2 as casually as we mention that we checked our mail an hour ago...

But to get back on topic: @vapman , You should really think about making a middlepart for the Vapman that is made to fit one of the standard bubler/pipe/bong sizes. I think it would sell, and also probably increase sales in the glass obsessed US :D

Just a wooden middlepart that fits snugly.

Agreed. But you might also try what I did: Wrap a few layers of PTFE Plumber's tape around the top part of the center section. Holds tightly and seals well.

Another option might be to make a replacement MP, which avoids the screen, screws and cross pins by using the existing center section. I bet if we asked Ed real nice he could make up a dandy and very pretty adapter (GonG on one end, tapered 1/4 nominal on the other)?

Edit: Now that I can see your rig why not put a F to F adapter on it, the Vapman fits lots better in the Female.

Signing off now, before the obvious, sexist crack slips out.......

very intriguing vape. love the hand craftsmanship, small size and ability to use off the grid (so long as the world's butane supply holds out)
i have a couple questions about the torch lighters needed to use for the vapman. almost all i find now are double or triple flame. wouldn't a single flame be easier to concentrate the heat? would the double one's be ok to use? and is there any such thing as a silent or really quiet lighter of this type? all that clicking and whooshing gonna attract eyes and ears i fears!

Sinhle flame only IMO.

The one sold by Vapman in combo with basic or classic is cheap, reliable, with a big long lasting butane tank

I agree, avoid the cigar lighters, we want concentrated heat on the metal only.....we're not lighting a stogie bigger than a hot dog.....

All the ones I know use 'clicker' ignitions and any torch is going to make some noise running due to the nature of the flame.

This is my favorite/recommended lighter. Dirt cheap at three bucks shipped:

Tough little guys (actually not so small), I've lost several, given away several more over a long time and have yet to have one fail seriously (one lost it's 'lock on/safety' function). I usually remove the silly little chain and cap before I break it off. I recommend ordering a few right now, no matter what 'better' lighter you might have, they are handy to have around and plenty cheap.

sweet, thanks Andreaerdna and OF, will keep both those in mind.
need another vape like i need a hole in the head but we know that
vas is a bitch that must be fed once she is unleashed.
forgot to ask, can you use any old butane to fill the jet lighters?
no need to look for the stuff filtered umpteen times like the iolite required?
thanks again

Actually I use the same (Vector) butane I use in Iolite. I bought a few cans and the lighters use a small fraction of what the Iolite uses so I just 'upgraded' when the Ronson butane ran out.

I would not fear economy brands if I didn't have the good stuff on the shelf. Given the lighter is three bucks (less than the premium on the butane), in the remote (IMO) chance it kills a lighter no big deal pitching it and you're still bucks ahead?

Yer welcome, for sure. Thanks.

I guess because i have a butane based vape....the hammer....i keep the good shit around. but on a 3.00 lighter yeah i run the fuck out of some ronson in that thang...but not so much in my hammer. However i don't think i would put some cheap butane in my vapman torch, that baby gets the best!!!

The Vapman received a whole lotta love at a biker bash I went to last night..... I have a feeling the VM will soon be blazing a trail on the back of a Harley or two...

It's St Dwynwen's Day today - Wales' patron saint of lovers. I'll be spending it with my VM :luv: - Love you always and forever Little Fella.....

Sorry I arrived late to the lighter discussion.

A long time ago, I bought two of those $3 lighter that OF mentioned - probably at OF's suggestion, but I can't recall.

They worked very well for at least a year and I ended up giving one to a friend, but about a month after that, my other one died on me and I was SOL.

That's when I bought that $30 Vector, thinking it had to be better but it was not! And it had a tiny Butane tank to boot.

I bought the Vapman lighter and I haven't looked back.

So for me, the two good options are either buy 4 of the $3 lighters so you have enough spares to not care if they die or get lost or buy the Vapman lighter which is very fine lighter at a really good price ($14/free shipping).

Both options are great, but I'd avoid the expensive ones since they usually don't work as well as the Vapman lighter and have tiny Butane tanks.

I'd use the good Butane even on the cheapos because I think it would make them sputter less. It may be all in my mind, but since the butane lasts so long for me anyway, I don't care that much.

One more thing! In case this happens to anyone else...

The other day my Vapman lighter started acting funny. The flame would keep going out almost as fast as I clicked it.

I thought it was toast, but then I just increased the flame size a bit with the black knob on the bottom of the tank and it estates working perfectly again.

I remembered that I had used it for something else and had messed with the flame size (which I never touch) and this is what threw me off.

Peace

Cool. That adjustment (flame size) is on the bottom of the $3 lighters, around the fill port, but usually doesn't need adjustment as long as the tank has a reasonable amount of fuel and the temperature is close to normal (pressure right), but if you need it, there it is.

FWIW I find I can lose things without regard to cost, in fact I'm more likely to not lose a cheap one.

However you do it, get a good torch of an appropriate size. Size matters.....but not in the traditional way.....

thanks for the help all. i figured the dual and triple flame lighters were overkill and the flame would be harder to concentrate that way. will pick up some good butane if i can find it, if not will use the cheap stuff for now. putting the cart before the horse anyway, don't have vapman yet:lol:

Cool. Ironically snooty cigar shops (the ones that sell the $100 3 flame stogie lighters) are bonkers for pure butane....... I bought it there, until I ordered a few cans from Amazon at a better price.
