Open Source Glass Thread

I don't remember seeing it when the thread first started. It might have been added, but probably has always been there and I just missed it. I think I am not alone... ;)

I think its pretty funny how everyone wants that egg and no one has said a word before the 8th page.
Probably because there's a note right under the pic of the egg in the OP saying it takes too long to make and won't happen for a while...

There's been plenty of talk of eggs between the other glass design thread and the cheap bubbler thread, otherwise I doubt that egg prototype would've even been made...

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
They...are up. Damn @blankrider they look sick!

Thanks again to @blankrider for all his work on these!!

Cheers!

You Must Unlearn, What You Have Learned...
001 caught my eye, as well as the incycler til I saw that vid. What piece gets to be 007? That will sell just bc of the product tag. Can't wait to see some member reviews on theses pieces. I'm not bold enough to pre order prototypes.

If anyone looks at the incycler video, the piece he's using doesn't have holes on the top of the perc. At around 0:16 it zooms in and the top of the perc is smooth glass. I think that might be the issue of what isn't functioning properly.

Yeah the Incycler definitely is not functioning properly. Water level does look low too but something else is wrong.

Doesn't look like the perc has any slits or they aren't in the right spot. Also the holes at the top of the chamber where the water is supposed to get sucked into for recycling look possibly too small which would restrict airflow and cause water to be sucked up the return tube.

Steven needs to be listing joint size and height for sure!

And I guess we are only getting the bent neck option for the large pillar? I think In the other thread, Everythinghazy said Steven was going to make 50 bent neck and 50 bubbler style neck for the large pillar...

Anyways, here is how the Incycler should function as everyone knows:

The fact that they even posted a video of a torus that was that dysfunctional really makes me wonder about Steven's understanding of what he's making... It makes me wonder if they have any concept of diffusion or glassworks or if they even understand that these are made to be smoked/vaped out of, or if they're just copying pictures and wondering why the hell all these foreigners want such strange shaped pieces of glass... Otherwise, I can't understand how could they think that was a functional piece ready for presales.

Nonetheless the rest look pretty great. I'm especially excited about the large pillar, although I wish I knew how large we were talking. Steven really needs to be posting measurements and joint sizes on his listings. I'm trying to figure out the size difference between the large and mini pillars, and it's really hard to tell by just looking at the pictures and trying to compare joint sizes.

I look forward to @blankrider weighing in and hopefully providing us with a bit more information if he's got it, and eventually explaining to Steven what's up with that torus... Otherwise, I'll for sure be ordering one or two, and I'm stoked to see our designs and dreams become a reality!

Thanks again @blankrider, and cheers to everyone!

EDIT: @blankrider I'd also love to see an actual side-by-side picture of the two different pillars. Any chance of asking steven for one for us?

Maybe this will help.

Perspective is different and I have no clue what focal lengths he used, but this gives a better idea of the difference in size:

This was quick and dirty done in Gimp, which I've never used before. Don't have PS installed right now.

I may have scaled the mini too small, unless it's using a 14mm joint.

You can clearly see the large pillar takes up the whole seat.

I tried to do the same thing but I was trying to use the size of the joint as reference since it's usually the only standardized part of a piece. This became less effective when I noticed how strangely short the joint on the large one is. Then I realized I don't even know if they're 14 or 18, or even one of each...

Using the base as reference is much more helpful though. Thank you @Tweak. They both look pretty damn nice... :brow:

Also, side note: Check out that smog in the background. :puke:

OK, maybe I'm missing something and someone can explain it to me.

I've never hit a piece like this but I imagine that the pillars don't really add anything unique to the taste or diffusion of our goods over other more simple percs and designs, and the benefit of this involved and intricate design is for the visual effects of the piece. How it looks operating with the movement of the water and the vapor is what we are after. So, why would we want to add a MP that is directly above the action, making it impossible to see it without a mirror? Doesn't it make more sense to have something that comes off the side enough to allow us to witness the action? I mean, we are never (or very rarely) gonna get a GREAT view of what we are hitting, but shouldn't we be aiming at at least SOME view on a piece like this?

Definitely bummed out on that incycler test. Also by the price after conversion to Canadian dollars (damn you petro-state!). Will order once I get confirmation it is fixed. Probably the mini-pillar too.

Would have been on that mothership mini if I didn't have an e-nail already. Steven also posted a dabbucino with the hitman style hammerhead perc which looks kinda nice.
