Has anyone found a good universal ceramic enail (hopefully w/ cap) for use with the flat coil? I'd really like to not have to re-wrap the coil at all.

Domeless.com created a special FC code for 15% off = fc101

I posted this also in the next gen e-nail thread because someone ordered the new carb cap, not trying to clutter all threads with this info or anything it just seemed relevant for these 2 threads since there was recent discussion of the company's products.

I am not in cahootz with any company, although I am relocating to Colorado and would love to cahoot with some company out there. (PM's gladly accepted):D

Weird... My unit was working fine for the last hour since I got home but now the temp keeps dropping and then trying to get back to temp. As in dropping 300' It will not hold a steady heat.

I went to go for a dab and WTF the temps were 430 and dropping. I turned it on and off and then the temps started to come back up after a few seconds but would reach about 700' and then start to cool off again.

I currently am for it to cool down and then see if what happens when I turn it on again.

Does it sound like my coil is dying? Fack I just want to dab lol.

Even after the unit has cooled it still will not hold a steady temp. I cant even get it hot enough to dab. Fuck this sucks.

@Dr200 -- Sucks to hear that your setup is not working. Have you tried putting all settings back to default? Once they are all back to default I would power it down, unplug power cord from outlet for a few minutes then plug in set to temp and see if it makes a difference. If you have it plugged into a surge protector, remove it and go directly to the wall outlet just to test. Also while unit is powered off unplug your coil, using those release tabs, from the box as well. Make sure connections are good, no bent pins. Kink in the coil wire?

If that doesn't do it, I would assume coil is bad, per the Auber site: "Warranty: one (1) year for the controller; 6 month for the coil heater*.

Note: * Our warranty for coil heater only covers manufacturing defects; it does NOT cover damages caused by high temperature (≥ 1000 °F) use.
"

Looks like you're covered either way, but it sucks to have to be without until it gets warranted. Maybe see if they will do a "hold" on your C.C. for you so they can send you out the new part ASAP, and you won't get charged as long as you return the bad part in a timely fashion.

Keep us posted on how they handle your situation.

Couldn't help but think of this show after re-reading my post.

A little update.

I have turned all the settings back to stock, double checked that its set for the flat coil. Turned the unit on and off. Unplugged and replugged. The box works fine so Im I think its the coil.

I emailed Auber last night and received an email back at by 7am pacific time. They are east coast time I think. They said they could help and then asked for pictures of the coil and what temp normally run at.

I sent them a few pics of the coil and unit and I run 710 temps. So lets see how this plays out.

I received a reply from Auber early in the morning. They could not tell what the problem is via pictures. They asked me to ship the coil and controller back to them for inspection/repair. Gave me a claim # to include so they can keep track of it. They don't cover the full cost of shipping but for international customers but offer a $5 refund.

I was a little bummed about shipping it to them and then waiting to get the replacment shipped out after. Stupid usps/canada post took 2 weeks to get it to me. I ordered a piece of glass from China on the same day and received the China glass several days before I got me enail. Express shipping is just so expensive. I know shipping is not Auber but I still have to deal with it.

So I asked if I could purchase a coil and have it shipped asap and when they get my defective coil back, refund the amount. He said again that with out having the whole unit in their hands they couldn't tell if its the coil or the controller at this point. If it is the coil that's defective then they would refund my money. The shitty part of this is they are out of stock on the flat coils again. Should be in on Friday. No matter what I'm waiting for a bit to get back up and running smooth.

I think I'm just going to sent the whole unit back on monday and go from there.

Customer service has been very fast in replying to emails as well. I was getting replys back in 20 min most of the time.

@Dr200 -- Thanks for keeping us updated. Sucks you're down for a bit.

I think I am going to order a ceramic coil from domeless.com just to have a backup ready if that inevitable day of failure comes. I am starting to use mine a bit more than I originally expected. I noticed Auber is now offering a 2 or 3 year extended warranty for purchase and they also have "warranty" information regarding the coils up on the site as well.

I swear I saw that using ceramic with a torch may cause it to crack over time. When using ceramic e-nail I haven't read about anyones cracking yet

On the domless web site, they have a video of a torch being used to clean a ceramic nail. Would that decrease life more than just Cranking up the temp a bit and scraping after it cools down?

Are you still loving it?
Do you leave it on or take it off? If so, how?
How do you clean it?
What coil and temps are you using?
Still loving it. I also have a banger for the flat coil and prefer this. Its so efficient its insane. Also makes things as simple as can be. No need to cap like I have to with the banger. I leave it on all day at 700. I'm using the flat coil for it.

I honestly cannot say as I don't have any ceramic yet. If you were heating them constantly with a torch to dab, not with an enail, is where people had the issue. I would follow the manufacturer's instructions.

I won't be ordering my enail from domeless until the week's end. Going to order the OG style enail without the side carb hole and the glass carb cap.

So I ended up purchasing a domeless.com ceramic enail + cap for use with my existing flat coil w/ RDK200. I reset my PID to stock values (including temp coefficient) and tried to do a dab at 710F @ 1.0 coefficient but it seems that the temps are way too low to do a proper low-temp dab w/out wasting product. I did let the nail heat up for 5 minutes or so.

I was wondering if anyone with similar set up has determined a proper coefficient for use with the domeless.com ceramic enail + ceramic cap (the newer one, as pictured in this thread a couple of times). I believe I saw someone specified 1.2 for their ceramic nail, but I wasn't sure if anyone else has had success with that value or not or determined its accuracy.

BTW: I really like the flavor the ceramic is delivering and Darid at domeless was cool to deal with. The flavor is definitely superior to the TI I've used IMO flavor-wise. Unwinding my auber flat coil to fit the nail was not very fun however. Definitely be aware of that in advance if you go down this route.

My measurements put the coefficient at 1.2 for a temp reading on the dish of the nail (using a thermocouple probe) that corresponds to the readout of the Auber unit.

Thing is, I am not sure that this is the ideal dabbing temperature or not! My thoughts on this are that the PID controllers of many/most other enails on the market have probably not been calibrated to the nail temp and therefore just read the coil temp.

So when people say they run their other brand enail at 710F, who knows what the actual temp at the dish of the nail is!

I have settled for 1.2 and dont feel like I am burning product or indeed wasting it.

With this coeffiecient I dab between 650F - 750F depending on what I am dabbing.

Thanks a lot for those details! Very helpful!

I agree with your thought that the majority (if not all) of the enails out there likely readout the temp at the coil w/out regard for the temp at the dab-side of the nail. That's pretty understandable due to the high variance in nails and materials out there. Also, since many of these manufacturers seem to focus on device quality rather than nail quality (likely rightfully so) most of the time the included nail will not see prolonged use anyways.

I'm going to give 1.2 a shot and try 650 and go from there but I expect that will work well. Thanks again!

I don't see how the display coefficient matters. I left mine at 1.0 and took the time to find the right temp for my setup. Now I could set it to display any number I want - who cares, because it's not like the dish is actually that tempature. Perhaps some particular point is that temp, but I can move my thermocouple around the dish and get varying temps.

My display reads 750 and feels pretty dialed in, but I'm still using the glass carb cap with mine.

The display coeeficient itself doesn't matter if you don't care to approximate the actual temp your material is vaping at. You obviously are doing fine without it.

I, on the other hand, would like to get as close of an idea as easily possible about the temp that my concentrate is actually vaping at. Especially if I want to assess whether one nail is performing better at an actual given temp vs another. With regard to that, the coeeficient is helpful. It's not critical - just helpful.

It's true that the temps will not be homogenous across the entire surface of the dish, but I don't believe it will drastically fluctuate +/- 50F. That a wild-ass-guess but that's my presumption. Even if it fluctuates +/- 100F, all the more reason I'd like to have an idea of the dish temp. I don't think anyone is expecting perfection here.

In my case, I had to unwind my coil to fit the mentioned nail and cap. I didn't have an easy time doing it and was having issues getting my nail to temp after the fact and wanted to confirm the values others have used with the same set up to gleam whether I possibly effed up my coil or not.

For any that do find value in it, 680F @ 1.2 with a proper warm up is currently working very well for me with the domeless.com ceramic enail n new cap.

I'm not all that happy with the results of fitting my coil to the domeless ceramic that I really like. I hope domeless will either sell coils that fit their threads or reduce their thread size.

Edit: have you cleaned your new dab cap yet? If so, how?

@jds32 -- Darid at Domeless.com said that he can make a coil to fit the RDK-200. From our conversations he seemed very familiar with Auber equipment. Something like a little over $100 for coil that fits Auber, ceramic enail and a carb cap is what I believe I was offered.

Running my RDK at anywhere from 660-700 depending on what concentrates are used. I should do a review soon, I feel for how it operates and what it cost me, I couldn't have done better. Got all the main features I wanted, sacrificed a few others, but hit a price point that, 1.) I could afford easily, 2.) allowed me to determine, affordably, if an e-nail was even right for me, and 3.) allows me to upgrade in a year or two, if new tech comes out, without having to feel guilty that I have to much invested.

I still need to get a nail/carb cap setup that perfectly "seals". I still feel the nail/carb cap combo that comes with the Errlectric is the shit. As much as I like that cap, spending $259 to get an Errlectric coil, nail, and carb cap is nuts(IMO), considering I paid less than that($214 for box, flat coil and universal nail)for my whole Auber setup.
