First Four-Twenty Lounge: a sanctuary for when it's too early in the morning

I had an awesome first appointment with an acupuncturist yesterday....

Must be like a breath of fresh air to know you are on a good path now. The few times I've fucked my back up (very, very minor in comparison), I was reminded of just how much it's used for every movement. I don't think I'd survive long term back pain.

Bet the bugs were out in full force.

I forgot all about the bugs. Yeah, a drive would be better. No arms out the window either, lol.

I spent last summer attending a pain mgmt clinic. One of the physios there was an acupuncturist, and absolutely great at it. I would get immediate and substantisl relief in lower back for 24-36 hours. Now that we've moved its time to find another...

I also highly recommend acupuncture for pain. It takes time initially, or it did for me. I noticed progress after the 4th session. Each session is 40 to 60 min.

I was indeed up at 4:20am, and dunking a quick dab to get back to sleep.

I am one that avoids as much light as possible in the wee hours, so that I can go back to sleep... so I don't do electronics, either. I have blue-light-blocking glasses, too.

chest congestion. hot flashes.

We woke up to an inch of fresh snow and it's still coming down. Time to get out there, hook trailer to truck, and take ATV to the shop for a clutch. Then back to nature trails! We sometimes go way up in the hills on the ATV - hoping the noise chases the bears and cougars away so we can go for a walk/vape session. We live in a semi- isolated agri community and have seen a lot of cougar prints around the village, including all around the house, which explained why dog was going a bit crazy one night. We also saw some bear droppings down the street yesterday. Not grizzly so not bad - all the rest are timid. Maybe they are attracted to the vape? :)

It was a new edible medicine we tried yesterday... spent most of the night just awake. Wide, wide awake. *sigh*
Hubby had to be up early, as he was signed up to do some clipboard/survey stuff for the co-op. I cleaned. Like mad. Hoping to wear myself out sufficiently to sleep tonight...

and I wanna go to bed NOW! :)

I know the feeling!

I can't keep doing this. I see my GP tomorrow, and will be discussing this with her. I'll also bringing a bag of my hair that I've lost, just in the last week. I am going to show her all my sleep activity (actually, lack there of) from my Microsoft Band, and show her all the new OTC drugs (three) that I have had to start taking daily just to try to combat these side effects. I have nothing to combat the pain that wakes me up at least 5 times a night, or lack of sleep that these new drugs are supposed to be helping. Hopefully she makes some med changes.

Good plan, @clukx .

Roller-coaster ride all fucking night again... from 11:12pm on, every 45 - 90 minutes, I'm up with wringing sweat, light-headed, dizzy shit. Getting really tired of dabbing. too much errrl in my system. ended up hitting a pre-roll from the dispensary. instant relief.

shit.

Note: The following post was written this past morning and apparently I was unaware that I never finished or posted it.

Well, I'll revive this thread since I need it now. I knew it was going to be a rough night. Even though I did get a good 4-5 hours of sleep, I woke up in too much pain to continue sleeping around 4:00.

I did just have a really nice moment. I heard the toilet flush in the bedroom from my pallet mattress on the living room floor. That meant that I could go in there and get a couple minutes of snuggle and hug and "there, there" with my wife without bothering her sleep before the work day. I don't know how that sounds to someone else, but that moment with her was enough to recharge me with love for just a few more hours and let her still get the sleep she needs to bring home the soy bacon.

Also noticed that it got really cold in the night. Had I known, I would have lit a fire in the stove and in wouldn't be so darn cold in here. I called a dog to come sleep under my covers to warm me up and a cat on my chest too now.

(after some hours)

Well, I did sleep a little more. Sweet wife didn't wake me up to help her get ready on the morning since I had already prepared her lunch and packed her lunch box last night. But I normally make her breakfast while she showers and I really feel awful that she left without a bagel or a fruit smoothie. I know she will just eat protein bars or something on the way or at work, but making her a healthy fresh breakfast of her choice is one of the things I do to love her and I didn't do it and feel bad about it. I'm sure she didn't want ot disturb me since she must have discovered me actually sleeping.

end of this morning's post.

So it has been one really rough night and day and I'm getting ready for another rough night. I've got to get some rest and do anything I can to pump myself up for the 25 minute drive tomorrow to the acupuncture clinic. Assuming I am able to do that, I might be able to take a dog to the dog park and around the lake with my wife if I can drive to pick her up from work.

So, I'm going to go read my book, the PK Dick novel "The Man in the High Castle", which is awesome because it's one I haven't actually read and is being made into a TV series with the pilot available on amazon.

So, im pretty sure that I'll be around here for first four twenty tomorrow is anybody wants to hang out in this thread early in the morning.

morning everyone, up for work, i wish i could just go back to bed like some of you..maybe some day!
i hope everyone has a nice day
@clukx I hope an early bird like you has a great day too. It's 5:00 here on the west coast and I've spent much of the night resting in bed (or bed, other bed, other bed, couch) but only a few scattered naps tonight

I wasn't able to go to sleep until 1:00AM and woke up at 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. Now I need to go to work. Having the low back issue with pain down the leg. Have been using pressure and cold and a tincture. I need to make a chiropractor appt today.

A good thing I work part time. It would be hard to get through 8 hours.

@CarolKing I'm sorry you had a rough night. I had that radiating pain down my left leg prior to my spinal fusion. That's they only thing I can say the surgeon did a great job on.

I'm glad you are able typo go to work though and I do hope your don't suffer too much from it. I miss my old job so much sometimes, as I just cannot stand not being out ther using talents to help.

I'll keep you in my very best today.

@ChippyMalone I understand your pain. I've been of work for 18 months now. I'm fortunate I had a strong background in tech and research. That's what's helped me the most. I've just started volunteering with a Veterans trauma group and will be initially helping new patients find appropriate ways to medicate. It will be kinda quiet, which I like, and helping people with disabilities I understand. I'm looking forward to getting started!
