Heya, yet another battery post. I had intended to pick up another pair of batteries from Blissville or puffitup, but impulsively (compulsively perhaps) found myself walking out of a local head shop with a pair. They appear identical to those that came with my mflb (model just prior to the latch) except they have markings on the side. They are marked as POWEREX AA1240-AAQO. According to a post in April on this thread "The batteries that came with my MFLB recently purchased from Blissville have factory inkjet markings of: POWEREX AA1240-AAQO".

However, Vitolo recommends the Powerex AAI240-AAAO or PowerexAAI240-AAAT from Blissville or puffitup. What is the difference between these and the (I assume older model) AAQO I now have? I haven't yet tried my new batts.

Also, by the way I also picked up the mflb wand which looks to be fine except only about a foot long of tubing unlike the 2 or 3 feet offered at Blissville or puffitup. The shop will be bringing in wood stems and brushes next week which I will check out. Hopefully they will know the type of wood - not that I've made any decision on wood type. Once I have these and the OEM grinder and spare push back ring (online) I should be done shopping for this unit. I do prefer shopping locally though it costs more - I like supporting 2 businesses.

Not sure what "tubing" you mean... if you talk of the MFLB whip tubing, it is sold in 3 lengths.. 1 ft.. 2 ft... and 3 ft.
The battery should be identical, just a new lot in same series.

@ Chimpy: I purchased some 2400's from Newegg approximately 2 weeks ago and the markings are as follows: AAI240-AAAM

I don't think you have anything to worry about at the end of the day. It could be how they keep track of batches of batteries or something.

The letters after AI240 are going to change periodically. They don't mean anything to us, just to MAHA/Powerex.

Man, I don't know if it's just me, but I can get through 4-5 good trenches with one of my Energizers from my 15 min charger. I've got 12, I've never bought any batts online, but do they last longer than mine?

quick chargers especially the 15 minute ones KILL you batteries so quick, I was using Eneloops and a energizer 15-min charger for a long time and the battery performance really suffered.

I now use the batts that are currently included in the kit, the Powerex AAI240-AAAO ones, plus a C-9000 charger and always have great working batteries all the time!

I just cleaned some vape honey out of my acrylic stem with some ISO, but now there's a film on the outside of the stem. I tried rinsing it with hot water and even used a little bit of soap to try to get it off. Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

No.. I use the stock batteries and get 4 solid trenches.
There seems to always be juice left, but my trenches get inconsitant after 4, so I dont risk the frustration of an unfinished trench!

@sydnee wipe with 91% Iso andthen rinse with hot water, and try "dawn" dont soak in iso.. just wipe off.

What is everyone's method for teaching new people how to use the box? I've had a lot of trouble trying to explain it in groups. It seems like everyone I show it to is unimpressed by the box's performance, undoubtedly because of the learning curve (although all of my vapor inclined friends definitely see the benefits of the MFLB).

Any tips on explaining the box to newbies? I'd really like some friends to enjoy this thing at least half as much as I do.

Use the stem so they can see the vapor.

Tell them to hit the tip of the stem like its a tiny hot roach and explain the slow pulsing technique.

Be sure to say "Don't hit this like you're hitting a pipe"

My buddy hit mine the other day for the first time and pulled a nice rip! I was impressed!

I hand them the instructions, and make them read it.
I make them watch a vid or 2 that I did not make.
Then I do a trench.
Then I pass them an older box, and we do one side by side.
I use cheerleading while they do their 1st "solo flight" ......
"let the battery out"... "keep drawing..."
It works on a one on one basis....
SO---->
I forget all others and teach one person.. Then I teach the next.
1st guy that gets perfect hits.... gets to "take over" my job with the rest of the group.
(While I use one of my prized personal boxes off on the side to give a secondary visual as another does the talking!)

Love your teaching method Vitolo! Mine is similar. First i talk a bunch about it and demonstrate it, then I carefully and slowly coach them through the first hit and the few following, same thing, you cant teach everyone at once, one-on-one is the best way to teach!

I would just say draw slow and steady- you will feel the heat if done right (no stem). draw for about 10 seconds and then pull the battery out.

Some people get the hang of it pretty quick, others take a good amount of coaching..

The novice doesn't normally bother me if they are doing it wrong unless they combust.. which in that case i give them a 30 sec talk about how that is the improper way of doing it and they need to pull slightly faster.

But honestly, I try to keep the box a personal thing just because yes, it is tedious to teach a new one.

HighSti,

I've shown a ton of people how to use the LB and one thing that really helped was telling them to "just let the vapor fall into their mouth" Smokers tend to draw too hard/fast even when I tell them SLOW.... I repeat S...L...O...W..lol. They just don't get it but when I say let vapor fall into their mouth - they catch on very quickly.

Lo,
Telling people to puff on it can be a hugely helpful shortcut. The brief pause between puffs allows the temp to raise up and so can give them an epiphany moment.

I hear the newer boxes run hotter than the older models, and also have a bigger air intake to reduce the learning curve.. Teaching people to use the box for the first time can be quite a chore.

Make sure the Headford you are looking at isn't this one because that has a male joint.

I assume you are between the Headford and the BW which are both good choices. I just prefer the taller, more "stand up" style bubbler. A big difference between the 2 is that the BW is 11" high and the Headford is only 7" which seems a bit small to me. You definitely want to stay towards the smaller side and the BW isn't too big for the WAMFLB by any means.

Here's a thread I started about MFLB Glass

Here's a good vaporpedia read on Vaping w/ a bong or bubbler

great, thanks man! i think i am going to make a drive down to their retail shop and check out the glass in person before i make a decision, it's too hard to choose!

Thanks to Vato805 & Vitolo for posting pics of the bag I requested! Can't wait to get mine!

Another question, can I vape kief in my mflb?

Just bought something to attach my MFLB w/ WPA too. So excited, first time I've had a nice glass on glass piece in a while! I really spoiled myself.
