next generation e-nails?

That's great news! IFTTT gives the Wemo Insight a lot of options that can be adapted to the e-nail to make it a bit smarter. I really hope we see some crafty people integrate RasberryPi or Arduino and fully take advantage of it. Like add a bluetooth/wifi adapter so you can control the e-nail directly using an app on your phone, adjust temps, program timers and advanced settings.

Working on the arduino part as we speak. :) Kind of funny because the added functionality is fun, but not really necessary. But if I ever need to remotely turn on the e-nail... hahaha.

I put an Omron timer adjustable to 0-60 minutes between the coil and toggle/pushbutton switch to cut power to the coil.

As far as coil life, I believe having power turned off to the the coil will be best for me. The unit heats from cold to hot very quickly. Keeping the unit on "idling", sends pulses through the relay to keep the temp at the set level. You can see when this is happening because the output on the display lights up on each pulse, at least on the Omron. It takes a lot of effort to keep the temp at a steady level, so I really only want that happening during actual use, not just idling along.

Very happy with my Omron PID, but I must admit, not sure if it's a must to have a top grade controller. There is a setting called "hysteresis" that allows how much temperture drift is acceptable before the heater kicks in. Setting a smaller hysteresis will keep the temp hovering closer to the set temp... good in scenarios where temp drop off is an issue. Setting a higher value will allow more drift, which will save usage on the relay and coil. I would guess the PID would last much longer than the coil.

I've put the Gimido tested through 900 degrees F no problems. But haven't had any use other than cleaning for temps above 730.

@DieHard .. if you get a chance, ask your vendor if there's really no relay in there. And if so, are they using MOSFETs or what do handle power switching??

@syrupy heres a pic of the Errlectric inside. On the underside of the board is a fuse and a very small induction coil. It is a multilayer board and there also may be some other tiny components on the reverse.

So whatts a good drop down you guys would reccommend for the enail set up? There are way to many different kinds.

Man I have to save like 450 for the enail setup and 1500 for oz of shatter. Hope I get my desired amount in 3 months..... All this talk is making me so excited.

1500 for an ounce of shatter? Is that normal pricing?

Shit, ment to say 2 oz. ontop of that I'm in a non legal state as of now. The state is trying to turn it to legal, not sure how's that going since even PTSD soldiers can't use it for medical purposes in NYC.

It's not about cheap, if it's glass I rather spend a bit more for the adapter since I don't know how much stress the enail+coil can give to the adapter or joint and possibly snap.

I have been using China made drop downs (some from greenbuddha and some from dhgate.) I haven't been worried at all about the adapter breaking under the weight of the coil/nail/cable. They really aren't that heavy so they don't put too much weight on the adapter.

I guess I'll let you know if a disaster happens, but I'm thinking it is highly unlikely.

well yeah, but itll suck for me it would be my only adapter. Having too much glass pieces makes nervous since i usually knock it over it something. Having one drop down is enough isnt it? your suppose to gather alot of reclaim in one and not use so many.

So i got a reply from gimido saying that if i want it shipped FEDEX or UPS i would select fast shipping and leave them a message on the delivery comment part when you pay. So guess if you wanted the 5pin model you just have to add that comment in there when you place your order. Probably same place where you state what watt coil you want included if you dont want the included 100w coil.

Ok.
Please leave message to comments.

Thanks & Best Regards!

I guess it depends on who you ask.

Some will say one drop down is enough.

I say fuck no it's not lol. I have every size joint rig and bubbler (well besides 10mm female) so that means I need a drop down for each  haha.

Plus there are so many options of male to male or male to female or female to female. Gotta have them all IMO :) especially when you can get them from China for fairly cheap. They may not be perfectly straight but good enough for me.

I have a few in the mail that should be delivered soon. I'll post a pic of my finished drop down collection once the new ones arrive :D

And thanks for contacting Gimido about shipping options and the different size cables.

I really wish they would add these options on the site rather than as a backdoor option, saves a lot of hassle for everyone.

Well technically one glass piece and one nail is enough but I'm guessing the real limiting factor for most people here is disposable income and space :)

I limited myself to 2 dropdowns (for now) and took forever to decide on which to get. Settled on a 14F to 14M and 14F to 14F, the first to be used for torch dabs as well and the second just for e-nail use. By a fluke all but my BeerGlass are 14mm male jointed and I have adapters for any female ones. If the quality is good and there's a need I'll order more from them. Aside from general aesthetics, I'm mainly concerned about all the angles being correct and not lopsided.

@BoogerMan How long did it take to get a shipping notification from Gimido? I ordered the Fast DHL shipping and it's coming up on day 3 with no word yet. I sent them an email so hopefully hear back soon.

So...have been following this thread for a while, but do not see any mention of vendors that might possbly ship to Europe.

I have mailed a few of the vendors allready, but have not recieved any respons as to my simple question if they would ship to Europe and what the shipping costs would be for that.

Are there any European e-nails? I do believe seeing this pyramide shaped one in Spain, but have no idea as to what was the brand or name of it.

Are there any of the vendors mentioned above that could supply to Europe? Is the 110V/220V thing going to be a problem maybe?

I can't speak to any other vendors, but Gimido ships worldwide and the cart page will give you a shipping quote.
They also have coils in both 120v and 230v versions, you select which you want when you order.

Okay,

thanks for pointing that out, I indeed put it in my basket and it gave me a shipping estimate. Thing is, they are one of the companies I mailed about international shipping and I never received an answer...always scares me to send them a bunch of dollars if they do not respond to an email...

I guess I will settle on the 710whip for now. It would be the economically whise thing to do I guess hihi. As I understand from this thread and the great review from @BoogerMan it will not be a bad investment.

Edit: Actually, at Gimido(e-nail.com) when asking for a shipping quote it tells me to contact them because there are no shipping options available...just letting you al know...

I checked that one out too but it is unfortunately above my budget...otherwise they sure look like a good investment should I have the funds to spend on it...for now my budget is at about 300dollars, including shipping

Thx for the tips!

maybe they actually thought about what i said and started to change the website around, adding those details instead of having to message them about what you want and how you want it.

Gimido. If you can solder, the parts are like $200 shipped.

Looks like a job for!
I've used a handful of E-nails, some extensively some just for a few dabs some really fancy some basic.

Personally I have no desire to dab at high temperature, and I far prefer the taste of dabs on ceramic or quartz over TI any day.

So I went and got a 710 whip recently when the dab cap went live, after a week or so of use I'm ready to say this is a killer deal.

Cons:
  • 2.5-4 min heat time.
  • A hook tool and hot plate to set the dab cap on is needed, you really do want to lift and clear it out every once in a while if you leave the cap on while its running.
  • No on light, not that big of a deal but would be nice. (I unplug it now when I leave to ensure I don't forget it on.)

Neutral:
  • It is ever so slightly wobbly on all of my connections in all styles, good news there is its never fallen off nor gotten remotely stuck so it's actually very stable.
  • Always low temp, you are not going to get red hot on this device and thus if you wanted to do massive halfgram+ "dabs" or larger, the low temperature is not conducive to doing it all quickly in 1 small fast draw rather will spread it out longer instead. This also means my friends whom for whatever reason like to dab on red hot TI:puke: think its a POS.:dog: (Please don't misunderstand you can glob it up fine you are just not making any youtube videos like this easily, it would be longer at lower temp)
  • Kinda no point in the dimmer when max temp is basically the only one you are ever going to use, tho its nice to have.

Pro:
  • Literally the cheapest option available (everyting included) made even cheaper with our coupon code.
  • Great customer service with an actual phone # to call and talk to. (They sent me a free adapter even after I told them it was not needed as I had a workaround.)
  • USA made ceramic and customer support.
  • Perfect carb capped low temp dabs every time.
  • Comes with carrying case.
  • Replacement parts and coils are cheap.
  • Self cleans quite effectively by leaving on and letting moisture bake out then a gentle scrape.
  • Safe electronics (unlike some china re-branding "manufacturers").

So if you wanted a good cheap E-nail and you don't feel the need to have a digital readout (which may mean nothing if your pid/coil is not keeping up accurately) and you just want to low temp capped dab on tasty ceramic.

Then save yourself a good chunk of change and just go get the 710 whip.

Gimido got back to me, it's already in the US on it's way to Canada and should be here by Monday! Never got a notification so you might need to ask for one if you order. Not sure if they'll charge tax on delivery, hopefully not since it's 15% here :o

Woke up to find a message in my inbox from domeless stating they can ship to Europe (estimate of shipping costs came down to 22dollar). Very happy with this, just waiting for them to confirm it runs on 220V too and then I might just as well pull that trigger :haw:

Sorry for double post, could not edit anymore...

Communication with domeless has been smooth till now. Asked them about the possibility to run the 710whip on 220V. They got back to me to let me know I wuld need to get a converter and it needs 100W.

Just wanted to let possible European buyers know (and any tips regarding a good converter are very welcome, I know nothing about them)
