No one said SB would be out of business. The speculation was "if they don't have a support staff dedicated to servicing their portables they may have a tough time competing in the portable space." Will SB be around in two years? I would assume so. Will the Crafty have a failure rate of x percent in a year? We don't know yet. That was the point. All we know is there are failures and the failure rate therefore is not zero. Other than that, we need time and data.

If you want to extrapolate the entire universe from your experience, feel free, but it's still meaningless in terms of an accurate picture of what other users are seeing. Or, to approach it from the other side...if/when your Crafty fails, will you assume most of the others have failed too?

Do you own a crafty or mighty?

I think I touched on the support staff dedicated to stroking an ego in the part above, it still doesn't make a vape work.

No we don't know what the failure rate is in the big picture of their world wide sales. Why are we talking about this? However in my world of vaping and info on vaping FC is King, so what is dicused and finalized in our minds I am perfectly happy with.

So glad my experience is meaningless about all this. In my world that is not something you say to another person when you want trouble. Do I need to call the mods, I always wanted to fucking say that (type that).

Do you have a point or are you just trying to say I am wrong? I am wrong. Feel better?

Seems all non owners love to take the thread off topic. I wonder why that is?

The Crafty/Mighty sure gets me stoned. How about you?

You want to call the mods because a member here has said that, in the whole scheme of things, anecdotal evidence is meaningless? The fact is, anecdotal evidence, on it's own, IS meaningless when talking about a wide-ranging issue such as the reliability, or unreliability of a product. No need to take that personally. It's a fact.

It's not a demeaning your experience but rather questioning the general importance that you are putting on that experience, eh?

It kinda of the same dynamic that was being discussed in this thread: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/you-are-not-being-threatened.16077/

If you felt the need to say that, you should've simply hit the 'report' link at the bottom of the post.

We can discuss this topic without getting personal, guys. Any off-topic commentary needs to be in the form of PM.

This thread gets more and more negative, not only about the product but also against each other, please stop it. If you have negative news about your Crafty post it but be fair. Maybe it's time for a big poll how many hours you have on your Crafty?

Hi Very high
Crafty Rules!!! Only thing is small battery life, hoping that can be resolved one day with an upgraded battery. I just did a session of herb, kief, herb, kief layers in the chamber must of been 4-5 layers of each. The bowl is packed!! Still going on standard temp of 180C and think ill kill the battery before I kill the bowl :ko:

I am not saying Crafty is a bad vape, It does gives me good fresh taste for first 2~3 tokes, and it gives me very good high, but rest of sessions after few tokes, I get a lot of plastic taste, when I use boost temperature of 385 F to finish the bowl I get really harsh and unpleasant taste. I get better taste from Indica's (Conduction vaporizer) highest heat setting.
I think the crafty is definitely overpriced!
Damn little expensive thing,, that only last 3 sessions(25~30 mins), take almost 2 minute to reach my desired temperature, take 2hrs and 20min to fully charge from drain, no user replaceable battery, and mostly importantly, its just made of plastic..
I don't know, maybe my crafty is faulty.. But at this point I prefer the experience from Daisy and Indica..

In a way I have to agree. While I love the crafty. Sometimes it makes me cough up a lung for no reason and sometimes it's extra smooth. I'm starting to think it's all in how you take draws from it. If you direct draw into your lungs it sits in the back of your throat and tickles. When you draw it into your mouth first it is a lot smoother but sometimes I can't control it and it's hard to only draw into my mouth. How to tell is if you can open your mouth before inhaling and a lot comes out and if you can blow a smoke ring like in one of the videos by oili. I notice most of the time when I take a big hit before inhaling I open my mouth and nothing barely comes out as if it's already inhaled. Does anyone have any suggestions or techniques they use to get the biggest smooth hits? I do find it harsh sometimes also...

I've noticed my Crafty has gotten increasingly harsh. This led me to doing my first cleaning, which did not seem to help as much as I had hoped. Since I haven't been playing with temps, and the thing is now clean...I'm not sure what's going on.

My theory regarding harsh hits from the Crafty is as follows.

I believe a small amount of vapor stays in the cooling chamber after a hit.

This vapor cools almost to condensation waiting till your next hit.

So your following hits all start with a bit of cooled vapor. Which I believe can irritate your throat.

My reason for thinking this is if I leave some vapor in my volcano bag for a couple of minutes it can irritate my throat the same way.

I'm still very positive about my Crafty.

Matter of fact, I got to hit some oil out of it last night for the first time. The conclusion I came to was that I will never hit one of those janky oil pens again.

Every single wax pen I have ever hit tasted like electronics and circuit board.

It's so bad with those things that I was genuinely confused when I started sipping on that tasty mellow vapor out of the crafty.

Those pens distort the taste of the extract so much that it literally doesn't even taste like it should.

Could you please divulge how much oil you put in, what temp you vaped at and how you packed it ie with or without a liquid pad.

Also I'm interested to know how it compared to flowers. Was its a harsh hit or smooth.

Sorry for bending your ear, I'm a concentrate novice who is laying his hands on some absolute shatter soon and want to know if ill be wasting it putting it in my Crafty or Volcano and should just use a blackleaf bubbler with nail ect.

For the people using the liquid pad for 1/2 bowls, how often do you replace it? I get a weird taste after 3/4 hits, almost tasting like plastic/steel. My liquid pad also feels much harder then it was before, maybe some honey oil is gunked up.

Excellent point! I use the liquid pad and did NOT clean that. I'll drop it in some ISO and see if that cuts the harsh. Thanks, @Vapoz!

UNLOCKING "error 004"

this is for the mighty but may apply to the crafty as well. (also posted in the mighty thread)

ok, I had a "error 004" warning for a second a few weeks ago..... that with 2 battery bars while I was hitting.
it did not came up again until yesterday. I read some pages back (in the mighty thread)
that this happens with low battery @ 1-2 bars , so I charged @3 bars usually to delay this....

yesterday, again at 2 bars, was idle @200C...... but this time it stuck with "error 004" on the display.
nothing helped to make it work again..... cooling it, pushing buttons, charging..... nothing.
"err 004" on the display.

then, while charging I held the power button for a few seconds........and it unlocked it and it is working again.

if anyone tries this please post your findings, so we can eliminate if this was just luck....and if it's working on the crafty too.:leaf:

@tdriver, did you mean you did a factory reset? (holding the button for 10sec), also on the Crafty we don't have a display so no errorcode display.

I've noticed my Crafty has gotten increasingly harsh. This led me to doing my first cleaning, which did not seem to help as much as I had hoped. Since I haven't been playing with temps, and the thing is now clean...I'm not sure what's going on.

See what I would really like to figure out is why the crafty has "random" harshness where sometimes you get smooth hits and some times it just makes you cough non stop!

My theory regarding harsh hits from the Crafty is as follows.

Sounds like a possibility. What can we do to change this then? I still can't understand how only SOMETIMES it's harsh and other times it's really smooth. I really am starting to believe it's the way we are drawing because I will never forget the first time I figured out how to draw without directly inhaling it and I was loving the taste. Also I notice if you put hand broken nugs and dont pack it too tight in the chamber it gets smoother as well. It's sort of like when you smoke a glass bowl. If you know what your doing and draw the smoke into your mouth and THEN inhale you will get a smooth hit. But I remember when I was a rookie and I first started smoking bowls I just inhaled directly into my lungs and coughed up a lung!

I have to say it is a unique experience putting oil in the crafty. However I think the trouble is finding the right temp when mixing oil and bud together to get the best clouds without coughing up a lung. One time I tried a fully packed chanber packed tight with flowers and oil sandwiched between and let's just say I coughed so much I never did oil again in the crafty. I think my next attempt will be with a loosely packed chamber and half the amount of oil as I put so much and got clouds beyond belief

I don't know if it was a factory reset, or what exactly "error 004" is, it just unlocked the error 004 screen , and worked after that.
or so I think it did, we need to replicate this to be sure it was not just luck.

I think you can see the error codes when the crafty is connected to a phone or tablet.

Not sure. :hmm: I only vape at 180c and clean my CC once a week. Its definitely smoother when clean.

Do you think built up resins/oils/reclaim could re vape duing later sessions and make it harsher. Think this has been suggested previously.

I don't have a clue but am assuming oil vape is harsher. (Could someone confirm this)

Also I have noticed the density of the vapor this thing produces is insane.

There is a blue colour to it.
I have full led lighing throughout my home and I'm noticing that the vapor goes from a deep blue colour to a whiter colour during a session. The bluer vapor is smoother tastier, the whiter stuff is definitely harsher

Don't know what the hell that has to do with anything ... I'm pretty 'Craftied' right now.

I have had similar issues with my Mighty, once in a while it gets really harsh, even at low temps, even when clean, and I cannot figure out why.

I'm in a bad habit of commenting on the threads of vapes I don't own but here goes.

My ignorant theory on the harshness based on other vapes I've owned is that it may be a factor of how finely ground your material, how resinous the material is and whether or not you add kief to your bowl. Is it possible that the harshness is caused by more fine particulates getting through the screens and cooling unit into your vapor path?

Before I used a double chamber water tool with my main vape, I found my throat would be occasionally irritated by the vapor and by switching to the double chamber water tool, less gunk got to my throat and the vapor is much smoother.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums but have been vaping for almost a year now.

So I got a Crafty about a month ago and fucking love it. I cleaned it out last week for the first time and I've hit a problem when I reassembled the cooling unit with the base seal o ring on, it dramatically increases the draw resistance. It's like sucking through a milkshake with it on -- extremely annoying because it was so clear and flowing before. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? The ring is all the way down to the bottom past the two holes so the cap lock can lock into place.

This is my best guess. I haven't noticed the harshness until recently for the first time. The only thing I did differently...using the included cooling unit screen. Since then I've switched back to using firefly screens. I kinda just push it in, and it really just never comes out. Its noticably smaller than the original screen in diameter, but it still works.

I had WAY more plant matter and buildup in my crafty again like that nasty picture I posted before. With the firefly screen in there residue seemed to resemble a dabbable NICE looking oil. I didn't want to reclaim it I just washed and down the drain, but if I had a second cooling unit I'd try reclaiming with everclear. The FINE screen is really way better IMHO.

Hey All!

(I was planning to post this last week, but Etsy shut down my store! Thankfully I managed to build a new store on in under a week)

My Silicone Crafty Mouthpiece to Waterpipe Adapter (SonG) is now available for purchase on my store!
18mm Version - http://delta3dstudios.com/18mmcrafty-vaporizer-mouthpiece-to-waterpipe-adapter/
14mm Version - http://delta3dstudios.com/14mmcrafty-vaporizer-mouthpiece-to-waterpipe-adapter/

These are my revised Crafty SonG's - they are about half as long as the ones I shipped to @Stu

(Note, there may be day or two shipping delay while I process your orders - these parts take about 12 hours to cast. Freshly made parts will smell like vinegar for a week, early customers may need to wait several days after delivery for them to finish curing).

I read every page 1 thru 130 while enjoying my new Crafty that I bought last week. Its been a great enjoyable read and I want to thank all the contributors.

Im coming from the Pax. Before that blunts / bowls.

I remember when I first got my pax , I knew I wanted to switch to vaping for the obvious health benefits .. In addition I was also looking forward to the efficiency benefits that vaping supposedly provided.

Since there was prior discussion on what 'efficiency" means .. when I use the word , I am talking about flower conservation.

I enjoyed the pax. Since it was my first and only vaporizer , the taste (compared to blunts) was wonderful. Even better.. I could put that Pax on red and it would almost taste like i was smoking a blunt. All that said.. I would fill up the pax to the hilt (everyone knows a Pax is at its best when fully packed) then unpack the amount that fit in is chamber .. and it would be about enough to fill a blunt (not quite but very close ).

The Pro .. 98% of the time I smoke its with my wife , a friend here and a friend there.. Never really more then 2 ppl.. and the Pax would burn.. Its a great session vape that was instrumental into opening me up to the world of vaping .

The con .. For the amount of flower I was using .. almost enough to fill a blunt . I never came close to the effect vs usage amount efficiency rate with the pax vs blunt .. It would take a full chamber vaped, stirred and then vaped again(sometimes with a splash of fresh herb below the previous vaped remains) at the higher red temperature to get match how I felt after half the blunt.

Now I understand the there are other factors to that such as the additional effects of oxygen being killed by the carbon monoxide you are breathing in due to inhaling fire.

Anyways I write all that to say , although I saw the light in regards to vaping.. With the Pax at least , I wasn't feeling ay of the efficiency benefits I had always heard about thus was a bit disappointed about vaping as a whole and was inconsistent .

And then I discovered the Crafty.

Last week , I decided I was gonna go buy a bowl. I had gotten back to naming blunts pretty heavily. The pax was dirty and I didn't feel like doing the whole cleaning regiment. I had got some super special stuff to enjoy. So I headed to the head shop to buy me a nice lil bowl .

I get there and I start looking lovingly at the volcano. I always wanted one. But Im married with kids.. My wife just isnt with the idea of a blender ballon making thing-a-ma-jig that pumps out balloons of Pot .. Like if my kids walk in on that .... lol .. i see her point .

So me and the store owner our talking .. about our wives.. And long story short , he starts emphatically recommending the crafty. as he is talking I pull out my iPhone.. start checking out reviews.. I saw that the paper critic guy gave it super good score.. I also saw that video y'all have posted earlier in the threads where they did a comparison of the top vapes and each and every reviewer had a crafty (or mighty) as one of their top 2 choices.

So I bought it .. This was wednesday last week. I started at page 1 of this thread and have been coming back and going thru my new journey with my crafty almost in sync with you guys as you went thru yours.

About the Crafty .. what can i say that hasn't been said?

I Love this thing . My method is i pack it to the tilt .. (thats about 1/4th of a blunt fyi) .. I start at 182c and hit that sucka nice and slow for about 15-20'is rips , then i Boost by about 20c and finish it off in another 10 or so rips.. I notice with indicas that thing will just keep on going .. ohh wee..

In terms of efficieny / getting that combustion feeling .. man the crafty is even better then combustion ! There have been multiple times I have ben reading this thread , enjoying m crafty , and completely and utterly unable to even work up the courage to turn the boost on to finish the bowl.. what I'm saying is .. Ive literally tapped out . Now Let me tell you.. I smokes! I can easily face a blunt to my self .. But this crazy man .. like its really an accomplishment to finish a fully packed bowl.. I be wrecked ! lol.. And its not that sleep , just breathed in mad fire high you get from smoking .. its a damn I'm super ridcoulsly high of these flowers effects .. but .. i .. can't . stop ... sipping ... it ... tastes ... so .... damn .... good!!

I went back to the head shop today while i was in the neighborhood .. walked up and shook my mans hand and told him thank you no lie..lol.

I cleaned it for last night .. Im thinking this is gonna be a weakly cleaner. I kinda like it to be not perfectly clean though . Like I'm def not gonna clean it between every session . Im thinking an every sundae regimen.

As I got to the end of the threads , I of course started seeing the threads about the negative issues. I sure hope mine doesn't break ..lol. My pax broke.. the return process with them was fairly simple, I am ok with the fact that it might / probably / eventually at some point obviously definitely break (it can't work forever obviously ) all i ask for is that t either A: gives me my full two years as Storkz and whoever promised me.. or B: If it does break in those two years , they process my claim and get me a new one promptly.

As for my pax.. I gave it to a friend who I think i have a reasonable shot at converting to vaping . I told him he has the pay it forward clause though .. The Pax is great , but I look at it as an entry point into vaping as a whole.. if he is sold on vaping he will eventually want to explore other more capable devices (or devices that better match his particular needs).. at that point I made him promise to give that pax to someone he things he has a reasonable shot at converting to vapeing .. with the same pay it forward clause.. So hoopefully that pax will do for others as it has done for me .. and be the stepping stone to meeting what is in my mind the end all be all currently of portable vaping .. the Crafty.

Oh and one last point before I end this behemoth introductory post .. Evolution is constant . The crafty is cool and the king (for MY particular needs and desired vape style) for now.. But hopefully , just like the crafty came and supplanted my pax , in 2 years when my crafty warranty is about to be up and my crafty is on its last legs,, hopefully something even cooler , better , more efficient comes along .. and then ima be on to that..

But until that day comes.. WOW .. what an upgrade from blunts and pax . Its like night and day . Delicious super thick , milky clouds.. and i get some really great shit .. Its been wasting all these years while i was basically lighting it on fire.. To be able to just sip the sweet vapor nectors !! fucking wow. The Crafty to me .. has been a revelation and a mile stone in my flower smoking career

I tried the fine screen and I didn't like the way it pulled it had noticeably more draw resistance which threw off the whole experience I was used to. The screen definitely isn't why. I just did a slight experiement. I held my breath while drawing to guarantee Im closing my throat and nothing is getting in until I inhale. It made a big difference. It's iust really hard to get used to that.

I'm in a bad habit of commenting on the threads of vapes I don't own but here goes.

I did notice that as well with hand broken nugs it tasted better then what I grinded it. Makes sense because it does leak through to the cooling unit way easier when it's grinded. What I still can't understand is if they really designed this vape to build up a lot of bud in the cooling chamber. I mean I only had 5-6 sessions out of it and there was brown gunked up vaped bud in the cooling unit especially all stuck in the crevices. do other vapes do this? Because my girl has the pax and I never heard of her cleaning out actual bud just resin I think :-/

Wow man well said. You had me dying with the kids volcano part. I agree completely Im used to smoking bong rips and now I'm finding I like the crafty better then the bong almost
